Timing of this is perfect for EA's incoming investor call, Andrew and co can just point to this to keep analyst concerns down.

With the almost radio silence to customers until today, they've at least kept shareholders happy right?

So many people saying this fine, game is fun... Etc etc.. And then blame the rest of us for thinking the sky is falling. Well given by the current popularity of the game, we aren't alone. Unfortunately your optimism won't be enough to save the game. Others have mentioned, BFV was abandoned with much higher player count that this game will have by when season one comes out... Ya this thing is dead. I regret my purchase. Hopefully more people will join me in bfv now.

How could they even launch this thing in this state? The BF name already suffered significantly due to these other launches.

Considering the lack of information about any new content for Portal Mode. I wonder if EA will try to salvage the Portal Mode from BF 2042 and try to release it as a F2P game on its own.

I hope Portal can get spun off or placed on the back burner, it's just another bog for them to work through. 2042 seems to need all the help it can get, and personally I didn't buy this game to play old maps. It should've been it's own separate thing from the start rather than this weird 'other side' of 2042.

You're much more consistent with your posts about BF 2042 than anyone here.
I am openly critical of the game and recognize that it needs massive improvements. I think that people are perfectly justified in their reasons for feeling disappointed and wanting to leave it for something else. It's also something that I'm having an extreme amount of fun with and my lifetime Battlefield squad and I play consistently. I also think that while complaints are valid, many people are addicted to the negativity and despite the developers indicating that they're working on improving the game (this is a good thing), they're getting roasted for when it will improve. They also would have roasted the developers had they stayed silent. I firmly believe that a certain base of Battlefield fans are ready to strike when DICE does anything.

That said, I've engaged in dozens of threads about this game and acknowledged the positive & negative aspects of the game. So yeah, if I'm being consistent, I'll take it as a compliment.

I wish the focus of the feedback was about performance and game improvements, those are actual issues that have hurt the game since the beginning.
The other issues are real as well. It's just that fixing them won't matter (to me) if the game runs like garbage.
That's the whole problem with 2042 - there's just so much wrong with it ranging from minor things like the eor quips to map design, gameplay, music, performance and so on.
Prior bf games released broken in one or two departments but bf2042 is in a league of its own when it comes to the sheer amount of problems comparatively.

Still not playing this game if there are specialists. So that will be never lol.
Specialists instead of proper class is exactly why this game will never work for Battlefield fans. Many love it but not enough as we see from the dropping player counts. Man all we wanted was an updated bf4.. Neck a remake would've been fantastic. Fuck EA

Fuck you EA. I mean credit to DICE for trying to fix it but let's be honest, 2042 as a Battlefield experience is fundamentally broken. It can't be saved. Take this effort and put it into BF6.

I think something on the scale of Planetside/Arma would really benefit Battlefield, even if they had to tone down the graphics. Keep the core gameplay, classes, and features, and then expand the action across multiple fronts in a semi-open world of sorts.

A BF3/4 Remake would also suffice lol

I just think back to that Gerstmann interview with Phil Spencer years ago. He asked "What's it going to take for games to kind of stop shipping in a semi-broken state." This new BF is about as good an example as can be. If this was a new IP I would give them more slack but they have been making BF games for many many years now and they make this abomination lol.

Gotta love the people that try and shame others into not complaining. If a game is shit and people spent a lot of money on it then they have every right to complain. If people used to be big fans and the franchise has gone to shit then it's going to get roasted. If the first year of a games "content" is just finishing the game then the company needs to know that is not ok.

Battlefield is my favorite mp series and this whole debacle has been so disappointing. It's absolutely astonishing they've repeated the extraordinary mistakes that occurred with BFV.

There's potential with 2042 and I've had way more BF moments than I ever did with BFV, but man it's hard to be remotely excited about the future of 2042. I'd love to see a turn around like what we saw with Battlefront 2, but that took quite a long time and I won't be holding my breath.

If only the foundation of the Dice core from BF4 and BF1 break out from EA and just give us something new. EA has all but ran the title into the ground and what we have now is almost unrecognizable.

Wouldn't count it out. There is a huge Battlefield fanbase. If DICE releases a polished game by the end of the summer, they could re-launch the game with a bit of marketing and some good word-of-mouth and the player base will eventually be there.

There's a Battlefield fan base waiting on a Battlefield game. This game is built on a shaky foundation and is rife with poorly thought out design decisions that've been immediately and widely criticized by the community at large as soon as they got to try the game.

This game could've released completely bug free and it still wouldn't be any fun to play for most of the fan base, though I suspect this was an attempt to gain a new audience.

Hard to understate the sheer level of regression this game has been compared to previous entries in so many aspects.

With this news, I'm expecting them to move on from the game the instant they are finished with their Season 1 content.

I think we just need more edgy quips from the specialists, that will surely entice new players.

May I add…… we are also talking about EA here. Repeat offenders.
If one company can afford to delay a game….. it's EA, thanks to their annual sports games. But nah, they pull this shit way too often (Anthem, Andromeda).

Getting back to the same old BF system when every class had a defined rule.
I agree with people wanting that. But that doesn't mean that the Specialist approach is "broken". It's just not preferred by you and many others. It's a different flavor of playing classes and fulfilling roles. There are still tactical advantages to selecting a specific Specialist or combination of Specialists that increase your squad's odds of capturing a point when working together.

Continues to amaze me people are still defending this game, honestly.

They lied about this one, basic features are missing, hit detection is a disaster. The list is long and we all know it.

This announcement just confirms to those who have played this series in the past that the days of EA/DICE making a competent BF are over.

And yes, people should be refunded for this game. No matter the edition ordered, but EA/DICE are scum and won't do it.

I seriously hate myself that i bought the gold edition. Twice. Feels like a scam.

I only bought it once and I hate myself. Should've just got origin access for a month like I was planning to from the get go but I fell for another modern battlefield hype. I sure as hell won't be doing that again.

It's sad to see what happened with BF2042. I'm also a bit baffled that the big update that is coming three months after launch will bring features that should have been there day 1. Is there a FPS that does not launch today without a scoreboard, voice and player profile?

It's sad because we were lead to believe by DICE/EA that this is exactly what happened between BF5 and 2042. "We're cutting support for BFV but the next one will be so much better and we're giving it an extra year and it's ahead of schedule and we've learned from our mistakes, we promise!"

Edit: the EA investor call this afternoon should be interesting...

The lying on this one was extra disgusting. The went out of their way to throw shade at people complaining about the BETA too. I got thread banned for saying Remember this tweet when the game releases; tell me lies sweet little lies. lol.

Sorry DICE, that ship has sailed, and it's fallen off the edge straight into Davy Jones Locker. Frankly you should just rename the game to something.....else, because it isn't Battlefield. Spin off Portal into its own thing and we can talk.

this ain't sustainable, why should people buy an EA game when likelyhood is that its broken or just got bad game decisions, you're getting your money now EA but your next bf hype trailer aint gonna mean shit
