any body getting major drops in the cutscenes? its weird cause the game is running well above 100 fps and then it just drops (basically stuttering) when Nico shows up in the van. For context im running a 2600x and a RTX 2060.
RE2 is more demanding in cutscenes than gameplay as well.

Oh it is - notice how AO is "variable". All options labeled "variable" do not show up in gameplay. It is really obvious that the game has no real AO in gameplay. They fake AO shadows under dante and enemy feet, sometimes cars, but that is about it.
Sorry, but what do you by "no AO"? The games has got 3 AO options to choose from and all of them work during gameplay.

I've had trouble in the morning with the resolution. The game defaulted to 4k DSR, but changing to 1080p (my native resolution) made the game screen small, like the native resolution still was 4k, but with a tiny 1080p square in the middle. Could not solve it before going to work, anyone had the same trouble?

Capability=DirectX12
TargetPlatform=DirectX12

By default it run on DX12. Doesnt seem to have any performance effect on me switching between the two. So far.

Thanks for confirming. Eager to try this out at home.

If it's anything like Bayonetta, I fully expect my wife to throw shade my direction for playing video game porn.

Yeah, I assumed there had to be AO during gameplay because my GPU usage went way up when I went from SSAO to HBAO+, though I can hardly notice a difference.

I have tried but I could never get it to work for some reason.

Is there much difference in 60fps and 110 FPS I'm having a hard time telling the difference.

Although I have a 1440p monitor running it in 4K ultra looks stunning. Not sure to drop it to 1440o for more FPS.

Using dx11 also gives a huge performance increase with a 1070ti.

100fps is definitely smoother than 60fps. After 100fps it gets more and more difficult to notice easily. You can "feel" the difference though, especially when you have to come back down from those higher frame rates.

I have an 8700k... 1080ti.. 32gb ram... and a 1440p 165hz monitor.. Can anyone help me out with recommended settings? I'm kind of new to PC gaming. Prefer higher frame rate.. but want it to look great too. Just have no idea with these aliasing options and all the.. TIAA stuff. Don't know what to turn down or what to turn up.

Setting framerate to variable mostly fixed the stuttering, but I still had a cutscenes go out of sync.

My one concern now is that the game kind of looks washed out, at least compared to the PS4 demo.

What framerate are you getting at 1440p/Max settings? You probably won't have to turn down more than a few Shadow settings, but give me some kind of idea.

First off make sure you have the latest Nvidia drivers and that you changed the rendering mode from DX12 to DX11 in the INI file (instructions in the OP).

Max out everything. Use HBAO+ and TAA.

which is considered better looking, SSAO or HDAO?

(I know HBAO+ is the best looking of the three, but it costs too much frames for me)

HDAO looks a bit too strong all around with very very dark occlusions across the scene. Just look at character's face with HDAO enabled.

I would suggest going with SSAO.

Anybody with a Vega 56 able to get steady 60fps at 4k? What settings are you using?

I get close but no cigar and I wanna get there

Whew that depth of field looks so bad. Went into the ini and turned it off. Such a vast improvement. Why wouldn't they make that a menu option?

Also turned off bloom, blur, and ca. Everything else is maxed with 100 resolution scaling. Rock solid 60fps at 1080p on 4790k/1070. Game is gorgeous after turning off the junk.

Just a heads up. Looks like the guys at the wsgf site put a .exe fix up for ultrawide. Not sure if it fixes cutscene though. Still at work, so I will test it out later myself. Hud and FOV is all good on it. Looking forward to playing in ultrawide! If someone else has a chance let us know if cutscene work!

21:9 fix

Edit: it's on page 4 got to scroll down

Okay I updated my drivers.. Changed the ini to DX11. I forgot to mention my 1440p 165hz monitor is also GSync.. so since this isn't a FPS, I should have G Sync on, right? And I should have V Sync ... off? And resolution scaling at.. 100? And last thing, not sure where to turn on HBAO+? Google said Nvidia inspecter? But was thinking this would be in the normal control panel or in game. Thanks for the help guys I really appreciate it.

Turn off vSync is correct if you have GSync on. I leave resolution scaling at 100%. HBAO+ will be part of the ingame graphics setting.

Just an update, the denuvo free .exe so far seems to have fixed my stuttering entirely. I'll update if it starts happening again but as of right now the game is running perfect.

I just did the prologue with the options you and others suggested. Looks gorgeous and I'm right at 160fps during gameplay.. down to 100 during cutscenes.. So I guess that's about right for my setup? I absolutely loved it.

From the moment I first launched it, it defaulted to fullscreen and it absolutely fucking tanked, even while creating the first save and calibrating the brightness before you even get to the menu.

Switched it to borderless window and now I can max it with no issues.

Very weird.

HBAO+ is on the game itself. Regarding Gsync, it should be off in game and forced on in the nvidia control panel.

Anyone with an old pc? How's peformance on similar hardware to the base consoles… say FX 6300 and GTX 760? I've seen the GAMEGPU report but would like to have anyones input if possible.

Yeah I found it! I just didn't go down far enough in graphics options to see it. And I have Gsync turned on from the desktop nvidia control panel. Thanks for the help!

i5-2500k (4.0 Ghz), RX 580 (stock, 19.3.1), 16GB DDR3 - Max settings at 1080p

Only looked at the very beginning of the prologue but comparing DX11 vs DX12 (default for me) and the two .exe files, I get the following performance:

DX12, Denuvo - 83 FPS
DX12, no Denuvo - 89 FPS
DX11, Denuvo - 103 FPS
DX11, no Denuvo - 107 FPS

So going from the default DX12 + Denuvo to the tweaked DX11 + Denuvo-free, I get a 29% boost in the prologue.

Anyone tried out resolution scaling using a 1070 with everything max out under 1080p/60fps? I am thinking of using 140% but I'm afraid of the drops - looking to get a locked 60fps.

Rock solid 60FPS @ 4K on my 1080ti + i7 7700. Dips to 45 on many occasions in cutscenes though. Everything maxed.

I had this bug where the game starts with heavy purple tint then becomes green. I edited the ini to change the resolution and got in game to adjust the settings properly. Somehow it doesn't like 4k full screen / borderless. There's no problem playing sub 4k fullscreen, nor 4k windowed.
I too have a purple tint on my screen. Whatd you change the resolution to? I really dont want to have to play in 1080p or else I wouldve just bought a console. Every game lately has had this issue like Anthem and The division 2

I've had that issue with a couple of unreal engine games in the past....literal slideshows when they default to fullscreen to the point i can't do anything, but finagle them into borderless and we're good to go. I know this isn't an unreal game but that sounds suspiciously similar.

I have a 1070ti with i5-4690k, with a 1080p monitor

I have pretty much everything max, except for things I don't actually like (motion blur, chromatic aberration)

I was testing it at 150% resolution scaling last night and had no problems getting 60fps. in the first couple levels it seemed to average in the 80s, but I didn't watch the framerate counter constantly. it was fine
