Lolol this response got me lmao.
I'm a little nervous to play online. I'm so rusty and I haven't played DS since it came out, only for a few hours.
Lolol this response got me lmao.
lol, how dare the "community" enjoy a game mechanicAgree. I've done the same for every souls game. The community for this series is insufferable.

You know the funniest thing about the scraping spear? All these people who can't handle an invasion. Awful stuff. If you can fight a boss, you can fight a player, scraping spear or not. Its even available to you as a player! Maybe try and have some fun for once.
If you're referring to people who disconnect, it does, though. If people are playing online, and I invade them, and they disconnect when I arrive in their world, they are affecting my experience.Let people play the game how they want. It has no effect on you.
They kept acid cloud...Scraping spear was taken out of subsequent games likely because From knew it was a broken weapon
I'm talking about people that stay offline the entire time, thank you.If you're referring to people who disconnect, it does, though. If people are playing online, and I invade them, and they disconnect when I arrive in their world, they are affecting my experience.
So for someone new to the game and is paying $69.99, or $89.99 in my country's case, should just accept getting occasionally harassed because it's enormous fun for those who are better at the game? I don't see how disliking that is poor.Too many @'s to really quote all of them but to those saying I should stop worrying about how others play the game, I will of course worry, because theres very clear intent in the design of the game to facilitate fun with invasions. Being hunted, or becoming the hunter and aggressively pushing the invader, is enormous fun.
Also, sociopathy? So people who want to win in any other kind of competitive game scenario are "sociopaths"? Nice handwaving of the argument.
The bottom line is that invasions are a great standout design feature of Souls games and backing out of them because you're afraid of fighting someone else is poor.

This is the answerThe funny thing is you can just not wear armor and be really good at rolling. You can shut down Scraping Spear users and enjoy the salt.
You could also look at invasions as being exciting, dynamic fights and not "occasionally getting harassed", plus you'd get more money's worth out of the game if you played online anyway...co op, invasions, messages. It really does add a lot to the gameSo for someone new to the game and is paying $69.99, or $89.99 in my country's case, should just accept getting occasionally harassed because it's enormous fun for those who are better at the game? You're joking, right? You're making it sound like these people are kicking puppies or something. It's just a dumb game.People who pull the plug or suicide when getting invaded are actually punishing the people who are playing the game as intended. Absolutely despicable behavior. Just stay offline.
Play offline. Done it for every Souls game.Seems like everyone in here is salivating over "owning noobs" and I'm just going to wind up having my experience with the game made much worse by veteran invaders who know what they're doing and are out to destroy my armour? It would be one thing to be whooped by random invaders, another entirely do have to deal with lasting impacts like that.
Lol I suicide when I don't want to deal with invaders.People who pull the plug or suicide when getting invaded are actually punishing the people who are playing the game as intended. Absolutely despicable behavior. Just stay offline.
be prepared to wait a couple of seconds before invading again? LolI love disconnecting when people invade me. I love imaging the tears and rage on the other side. No skin off my back. You invaded, be prepared.
No, it makes me quite mad. I wish it didn't but it does. You're joking, right? You're making it sound like these people are kicking puppies or something. It's just a dumb game.
Just think of it like this, those people were never going to give you the fun fight you presumably were looking for in invading people. You were going to destroy them and it would have been easy and not fun for either of you, so who cares if you have the minor inconvenience of someone dropping out.
Exactly. And it is an option. And staying in soul form is an option.I mean, rage-quitting always sucks and is truly pathetic. But playing offline, if that's an option, sure ain't.
Enjoying a game mechanic is one thing but shaming people who simply don't enjoy PvP or want to progress in their games on their own terms without getting ganked by series veterans is a completely different thing.

Fair enough, no worries then.I'm talking about people that stay offline the entire time, thank you.
That's also what people are missing. It's not like it's limited to invaders. You can totally just use it on invaders as a host or blue phantom yourself. Hell, you can even have 2 of your buddies with you and gank invaders, the invaders are actually at a disadvantage. As I'm generally a non-invading kind of player, I have zero problem using the scraping spear on invaders.
I am not talking about posters who simply prefer to play offline, but about people who demonize players who simply enjoy PvP and invasions.Enjoying a game mechanic is one thing but shaming people who simply don't enjoy PvP or want to progress in their games on their own terms without getting ganked by series veterans is a completely different thing.
When people call the Souls community insufferable they usually mean the elitism which is on display even in this thread.
I agree that invading players just to get kicked out because they disconnect sucks and that is truly bad manners from the person who disconnects.
However, if people want to play the game entirely offline then fucking let them without calling them out for it.
These games are hard enough without a PvP veteran hunting new players down to make things even more difficult.
What's so bad about people who enjoy PvP to play among themselves? I mean the ability to play offline exists in the game for a reason so it's the creator's intent (something Souls fans hold in very high regards *cough* difficulty *cough*) to be able to do that.
Watch people freak out if Elden Ring wouod ever end up being online only.
I love disconnecting when people invade me. I love imaging the tears and rage on the other side. No skin off my back. You invaded, be prepared.
I'm sorry to be the one to break this to you, but when someone disconnects when I invade, all I do is laugh, wait for the loading screen (which will presumably be very short now), and press the button again to invade someone else. Meanwhile you have to wait for your router to reboot. In the original Demon's Souls at least, you'd also get kicked out to the title screen.I reboot my router when I don't feel like dealing with invaders. Cry more about it 🤣

Couldn't disagree more. The PvP mechanic has added longevity to these games for me. While it's true the netcode has been... questionable (it sure could be improved, no argument there), some of the most fun I've had in Souls games have been invading or being invaded.Invasions are a terrible mechanic across the entire Soulsborne library because none of the games are built for it. Demon's to DS3, the netplay has been terrible across the board. Combine that with the fact that invasions grind the pacing of a level to a dead halt, and you have a mechanic that is fun as an isolated idea but really obnoxious in practice. I've only ever done one playthrough of a Souls game online and it was the worst out of all of my Soulsborne experiences by far.
Immediately playing offline to avoid all the dumb shit the invasion stuff brings. Makes the games completely insufferable.
Fair enough, no worries then.
