Astro, Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Demon's Souls would be a great 1st party launch lineup, alongside all the 3rd party exclusives / timed exclusives and multiplatform games.

Did people think this game was far off or something?

Even if you considered the June event to be all realtime/in-engine stuff, DS only showed what you'd normally consider a teaser - not any gameplay. So I think based on other games showing more comprehensive gameplay, its pretty reasonable to have considered DS a little further out vs some of the other games that were shown (GT7, R&C, Sackboy, Spiderman for instance)

Interesting if true, but I'm not sure about Sony's approach. The only two exclusive titles will be niche games?

Niche? Dark Souls series sold 27million units till now, i would say that is a very lucrative niche.

having the remake of Demon´s Souls at launch would be a BIG selling point for many players around the world, even if its not a From developed title.

there are loads of Souls fans who never experienced this game, it will be a big hit.

and if it makes it, how is Miles Morales niche? or was this post a joke?

We have screenshots of gameplay and this has been in development for years. Bluepoint ship titles every 2-3 years, this wasn't going to be any different.

Feels like it would be a solid March game. Kind of what Second Son was to the PS4, or Oblivion was to the 360. Just outside the launch window, and keeps the momentum going into the spring.

I believe it's a joke referencing a poster(s) calling Spiderman "niche."

Demons Souls was a niche game in its era, but yeah, the visibility and awareness of the series has changed drastically since then.

Yeah, maybe the post was referencing the "Niche-Man" memes, i am never sure when stuff like that is written other that someone marking it as joke or sarcastic :-)

and yep, Demon´s Souls remake will be a major driver of PS5 sales as Bloodborne was for the PS4. this series is not niche anymore, many people are eager to see its origins in splendid fidelity.

I'll definitely consider buying a PS5 on launch if it happens. Nothing really interests me even then I already played Demon Souls and we don't know what new content is in the game.

I'm referencing an infamous post! I absolutely agree Dark Souls has put the IP in the spotlight and both games will be huge.

DO IT

This is the right game to go alongside miles. I hope they can make it. Sounds like not too long of a wait, either way.

It would be a very strong title to launch with. Shame if they can't make it. I'm not a day 1 person but it would tempt me.

I had always figured it was gonna be a launch title... until that trailer with no release date rolled around.
I'll buy a PS5 as soon as DeS launches, that's for sure.

Interesting. So the trailer didn't have a date because they weren't sure if it would make 2020? I wonder which other games are like that if that is the case.

I've felt for awhile now that Demons Souls might be a sneaky launch title to pair up with Miles, at the very least if it can't make it at launch it shouldn't be too far long after before it releases.

Yeah, but very few people played it relative to the rest of the series. Its new to 80 to 90% of everyone who bought Dark Souls 3.
I just thought that post was silly because they were talking about the magic of discovery in a new game unknown to the world and filling out the wiki or something. Everything has been known for over a decade. There won't be any significant differences, if any.

So anything that's not a 3rd person story driven game is niche now? I could care less about Spider-man (or any super hero game) but I wouldn't call that and ARPG games niche.

I'm not confident that will be the case. There are significant differences between vanilla DS2 and SOTFS and this will be a far more extensive remaster than that was.

You can absolutely be certain that enemy and weapon placement, equipment variety, and spells will get a revamp because that's trivial to do and some of that stuff was super broken.

I'd also expect the tendency system to be WAY less obtuse than it was.

I would be surprised if DS doesn't make it this year. Seeing what Imran says, it's very plausible that things might have shifted due to Covid which is unfortunate. But still, I'd be utterly shocked if DS isn't in our hands before 2021 or at least first half strikes.

Bluepoint has said that they consider SotC 2018 a remake, and Demon's Souls to be a re-envisioning as it goes beyond what they did on SotC 2018.
Do any of the insiders know if this means we are getting the 6th zone?

Can we really expect this game to be ready less than 3 yeas before Bluepoint last project? I hope it is but the time frame alone makes me very skeptical that this will be day 1.

I used to think Xbox Series and PS5 were neck and neck where launch titles were concerned until now. Umbasa!
