Why are people freaking out over a close run up here? It's literally like 1% of overall delegates and Bernie has far more name recognition.
I'm obviously playing
Hence the America's mayor thing

also, comeon, Iowa can't be important when we think one candidate is winning and unimportant when another wins

Its stuff like this that makes me hesitant about thinking a Warren drop out as a net-positive for Bernie, a fair amount of those Warren supporters are the upper-middle class folk that supporter Hillary in '16 and are more likely to go for Pete.
A Warren drop out won't be a net-positive for Sanders unless she endorses him. If she actually dropped out at some point I can't see her endorsing anyone else, BUT I could also see her just not endorsing anyone which would hurt Sanders the most.
Everyone about to reverse their feelings about a recount
I'll be voting for Sanders and I was thoroughly done with Iowa a day ago. People take this "he didn't get to have his victory moment" shit too seriously.
Surprise! It's Tulsi.
Don't you put that evil on me, Bernie Sanders!
lol, Nate Cohn of the NYT/Upshot just said "there's no chance networks can make a call off of this info" and then a minute later CNN calls it for Pete. Good work CNN
Goddammit CNN! Also is that Heejin as your avatar?

...Honestly, this is the sort of situation that should have a recount. There's been a lot of errors on multiple ends and the delegate counts are absurdly close. The only reason people don't want to do it is because of what a clusterfuck Iowa has been already.

Which is so fucking naive I wonder what he's been doing for the past 30 years in the Senate.

It's not naive at all. What's naive is thinking that popular and effective legislation doesn't emerge from the people and that it's all the product of cloistered wonks and policy auteurs imagining them up in a vacuum. Historically everything big came from a popular movement.

The only thing CNN cares about are the ratings they get from the drama they manufacture by creating this horse race.

How did the campaign to influence GOP senators about Kavanaugh go again?

Policy emerges from the people sure, but the Senate is unfairly balanced to serve a minority of the country.

No we're talking about how to get things passed against a Republican senate.

Right wherein you'd expect the electorate to care less about say raising a injunction against Kavanaugh because that's largely court intrigue and representative of the broader failings of our institutions which people have already resigned themselves to; while caring more about someone speaking up for and organizing for basic material interests like healthcare. It's just not really an analogy.

I was even at one of those rallies! One of the many votes Heller f*cked himself over with, but it turns out that he didn't care.

Always keep in mind that what ever McConnell needs to do to crush Sanders, he will absolutely do. What we saw during Obama's second term was just a taste.

Iowa's always been important for media coverage/"momentum" reasons but as far as actual delegates are concerned it's really not. I don't think it's a huge deal in this situation either way because I don't think Pete has a real path to the nomination so Bernie's gonna be fine.

Goddammit CNN! Also is that Heejin as your avatar?

Yep!

Oh ok

People just didn't understand the importance of a supreme court nomination, yep that's it

What are your thoughts on this?

Congrats to Pete. Also drop out, Biden. 0-3 on presidential runs is nothing to be ashamed of...lol.

I mean, the point is just that having someone actually advocate for these simple and easy to understand positions and so engender a popular consensus towards them is clearly a part of a broader strategy and one that no one else is really arguing for or adopting. Typically you start with popular positions and draw up the details of legislation after.

Steyer is turning on Bernie!

He targeted Biden and Buttigieg directly, then made a comment about how Republicans paint all Dems as "a bunch of socialists". He clearly knows where he's looking to steal votes more than anything else.

Congratulations for Bernie winning the popular vote, but I'm waiting to see until SDE is confirmed though he has great momentum going to NH. Biden should drop out if he can't win this coming primary.
Biden's entire plan was to muddle about until the southern states start rolling in. He's not going anywhere until SC and NV. If his grip slips in those states over the next few weeks then he'll have to consider folding it up.
