Imagine instead of celebrating Bernie's all but certain victory (very sad for Warren but am happy with Bernie getting the nom as he's my second choice) some of you just can't help yourself but to be petty and hateful and attack the 2nd most progressive candidate running by far.

Stay classy.🙄

Also go away Pete/Biden please and thank you.
Did you miss her speech? She literally attacked Sanders, and then talked about uniting the party.

I'm talking over a longer period of time. NH was supposed to be overwhelmingly Bernie territory. For him to barely beat Butti in NH is a much better night for Butti than Bernie - regardless of what the last week of polling showed.

Its really not though. The major takeaway is that Bernie won and butti is eating bidens lunch. Bernie still has his base and butti has 0 path. This only helps Bernie.

She has shown who she really is.
basically. very little respect for her now
I think this is unfair. Anybody reading this thread knows I'm a socialist and, naturally, a Bernie supporter. But they're running for president, both firmly believing they're the right person for the job, and one is on the brink of collapse.

This whole cycle, prior to that one spat, they barely said anything that could even be construed as a criticism of one another, despite constant goading from the media. And her "attacks" on him now cast about as much shade as a pane of glass. Hell, even if she got really salty, I could probably forgive it considering how swift and dramatic this nosedive has been, when she herself knows she's at least the second best candidate.

On the richter scale of primary sniping, this stuff doesn't even register.

That is unless I'm misunderstanding and you two are talking about her walking back her position on M4A. That was fucked up—though I still believe she ultimately wants something at least resembling M4A.

It was really frowned upon here to question Biden's mental acquity but it's clear that he needs to get out of the race for his own health at the very least.

His mental state has been getting worse and worse over the past year. I can't imagine how he will look like come November.
He should drop out for his own health's sake but also for the sake of the democratic party cause if he keeps declining mentally like he has the past months, he's gonna embarress himself on the debate stage against Trump

Buttigieg is significantly overperforming.
I hate it but ever since Iowa I'm real fucking suspicious of Buttigieg.

The only way I can explain this is all the moderates that wanted Biden saw him as the gaffe machine he is and thought, "we need someone younger!" and migrated to Buttigieg. That's literally all I can think.

I think Warren is probably the biggest loser of the night (who hasn't dropped out yet).

At least Joe is in South Carolina.

From what I heard even if Buttigieg does well tonight it's much much harder for him going forward. Guess we'll see.

Man, the convention is really going to be shit, isn't it?

It's like every time there's an array of options, we always end up at maximum chaos and miscommunication. Sure as shit doesn't benefit anyone.

I will get super depressed if Pete ends up winning. Like Amy I would just cope with, but Pete? I hate him, and can't wait for him to face the music in a state that isn't 95% white.

Bernie sliding closer to 25% in New Hampshire of all places has me kind of nervous, actually. Those aren't the numbers that makes you the "uncontested Democratic nominee" - if he slips under Pete again it's gonna be chaos for the next few months. But even if he doesn't, I was pulling for an unquestioned 30%+ finish.

It's kind of hilarious that the very online folks are turning on Warren already. And the same folks are criticizing Biden for focusing his campaign strategy on playing to his demographic strengths.

I won't name names, but this is why some people have issues with the Bernie crowd. Y'all's boy has a clear shot to the nomination, is leading in national polls, and has a ton of things breaking right (Klob/Pete siphoning votes away from Biden; Warren not viable)... can't we all just be happy?

I can't speak for other, but surely you can't blame the socialists here for supporting a fellow comrade. Warren may be better than most, but if we have the choice, Sanders is the guy.

Right, they could have changed their votes, but they didn't vote at all according to that graph.

Democratic Presidential Primary |February OT| It Can't be Worse than Iowa, Right? (Discussion Guidelines in OP)

Interesting data from exit polls (via 538) - looks like 2016 Bernie voters aren't really showing up? He got 60% of the vote last time, so like half of his voters just didn't bother coming out. Did they think it was all locked up or something? Very strange.

Last post I'm responding to about this because literally nobody is understanding what I'm saying, or what the original poster was even mentioning it for. Obviously with more choices the votes and percentages will be split more. That's not what the graph is showing, it's from an exit polling question regarding who the voter supported in 2016. If 100% of Sanders supporters from 2016 voted in the 2020 primary, regardless of who they voted for this time, Sanders would have a minimum of 60% on that graph. But he only has 30% to Clinton's 50%. Therefore many 2016 Sanders voters didn't show up for this primary.

So yeah, I'm done responding about this because I can't explain it any better. And again, this isn't even a bad thing (for Sanders) because it means Sanders has more supporters that just didn't vote today.
Yeah I get it now, people misremember who they vote for it's an unfortunate and very common recorded pheonema recorded amongst pollisters which is why you always have to take data like this with a large pinch of salt. Some of those people may not have even voted last time either but thought they did.

So while it may be true that Bernie under-performed as you say I wouldn't really use that type of poll to really say one way or another. The shifts can be large.

Buttigieg is fucked in the primaries to follow, right?

Please someone assure me
Pete has like -0.7% black support. The only reason he's doing well thus far is because of the demographics of Iowa and NH, and because Iowa was a caucus state. Additionally, Iowa's where he spent his money, time, and effort. Pete has no path to the nomination unless he magically convinces older black voters that he's a horse to bet on, as they tend to be pragmatic people. But that's a chicken and egg problem, because he's not going to be viable candidate without their support.

I mean, that's why Pete pivoted into the moderate lane early on: to be a younger alternative to Biden. And, so far, it seems to be panning out. However, Pete's in for a world of hurt after New Hampshire though.
