lol masks off. 100% going for the brokered convention route.

You can go through my post history - every time people have clamored for Warren to drop out, I've made the case for her staying on. She had great debate performances, tore Bloomberg a new asshole and split the moderate vote for Bernie.

All that said.

Warren needs to drop out NOW if she cares about getting a progressive into the White House. Every single delegate counts. Every delegate she gets on Super Tuesday is one essentially robbed from Bernie. She has no path forward with Biden surging. The net effect of her staying on for ST is literally only hurting Bernie.

Yeah, no. SC are a much older voting base, and more conservative.

I'd argue a lot of them would fit with the Republican Party if they weren't so damn racist. That's actually a lot of the Democratic base from my impression, a lot of minority groups are pretty conservative. In Australia that's definitely the case, "model immigrants" (god I hate this phrase) like Asian Australians and Ethiopians are pretty damn socially and economically conservative.

Gun to their heads, who do you think Republicans would be more willing to work with? Biden or Sanders?

Pull the trigger.

This is a Republican Party in which Chris Christie got dragged for complimenting the Obama Administration for their response to Hurricane Sandy.

Somehow that was the defining issue people had with him, not effectively shutting down the George Washington Bridge to get back at the mayor of Fort Lee, which resulted in the death of an elderly woman who passed away in an ambulance stuck in traffic.

Not too sure about this. The polls so far haven't really shown her support to be strictly people that would otherwise vote for Bernie if she dropped out. That might just be online progressives and not necessarily representative of actual voting blocs.

Look Biden's campaign was pretty screwed if he didn't win SC. So he bet all of what he had to at least get back into contention and make it a 2 person race with Sanders. Given how many candidates there are (and at least 3 others share the same moderate lane as him), he really needed to put himself forward as the alternative to Bernie to stand a chance. Looks like at least in SC that's paid off, but we'll see what happens on Super Tuesday.

For those of you who support Sanders, what about him appeals the most to you? Secondly, of all his plans, do you believe he'll get anything done? Will he be willing to compromise on some things? If so, why? I'm just curious what draws people to Sanders the most. I think the main thing for the Dems is to keep the House, win the Senate AND the presidency in order to have anything constructive being done. Secondly, they need to be united in WHAT they want to get done.

South and North Carolina aren't too different on the surface demographically. why is sanders so much more competitive in NC than in SC?

Bernie has been in congress for 100 years. he's made plenty of compromise votes

Sad truth, another poster hit the nail right on the head. If Republicans weren't racist, we'd be living in a one party country. Dems would never win again. We live in a very conservative society, despite what bubbles we place ourselves in.

As someone that grew up in the south and moved away, southern conservatives are on a whole other level. They will make you hate Republicans more than breathing. I always laugh at California conservatives because they have no idea what it looks like in the south. They would turn in their cards if they really knew how nasty they were down there.

Warren looking worse and worse as any kind of compromise candidate. How she finagled her way into the anti-Goldilocks zone of being palatable to neither the Left nor the Right of the Dem electorate is beyond me.

yeah 57%, 58%, and 62% aren't even splits.

I used the word roughly and the numbers being a few percentage points higher than the mid 50s doesn't really go against the point I was making, hence me not being precise with the numbers.

The approval numbers are not good when considering that this is just Dem voters and not the general electorate, hence my initial post: the framing of healthcare will need to be changed for the general election to make it more acceptable.

You're right that it's not like 100% of her supporters are second choice Bernie but it's not 0% either. Plus the vast majority of her voters in Massachusetts are definitely progressives.

If Republicans weren't racist, they'd have a much smaller portion of the white vote. It'd probably balance off in the long run.

So I guess we're at the "SC won't vote blue in the general, so all these black people's voices don't really matter" stage of the primary
The electoral college exists. Some states matter more than others'. That's why you also sometimes see Biden supporters saying it doesn't matter if Bernie has high hispanic support. That's why people tout head to head polls in Wisconsin and not Oregon. But black support is actually pretty important for certain swing states.

That's just a ridiculous thing to say.

Bernie isn't owed any delegates, they aren't his by default. They belong to the voters.

I'm a socialist and Bernie's socialist rhetoric is very appealing to me. I want this country to become more open-minded to left-wing politics besides things sold to us by billionaire donors. He's also spoke frankly about the blood on the hands of the American Empire and I want a President that isn't a war hawk. His policies and platforms are pretty much all things I agree with, barring maybe gun control. He's pretty much the only President I think could actually bring meaningful, long-term change out of the current batch.

I don't know what he would compromise on, but I'd rather have the most stubborn President if it comes to a matter of compromise. I'd prefer to worry about those things once he's in the White House and if we take the Senate back.

The primaries are one of the best places for minorities to have their voices heard in the process. These southern democrats would literally have no voice at all if their states didn't matter in the primary

I live in Arkansas and it makes me literally hate humanity itself. I work in a factory full of your typical southern racists. We even have a giant American flag with a blowup picture of Trump. He is like the second coming of Jesus Christ to these people. Makes me want to vomit.

Was Steyer projected to do well in any ST states? Is there any breakdown of where is voters' second choice lies?

I might be wrong but i feel like we have a lot of schools, like everywhere you go theres a college. Greensboro has like 25 schools in a 25 mile radius. And i imagine a lot of hipsters live in asheboro lol

I still see trump flags here though, unfortunately.

NC also went blue in 2008 for Obama. It's a demographically very different state than SC.

Thay said, I don't know if we can win it this year. I see a lot of Trump support around me. :/

People keep saying that despite plenty of racism plaguing Europe as well. The US has lagged behind on a LOT of things socially, but we've made pretty tremendous strides that will hopefully continue. Don't forget less than 50 years ago women couldn't even get a credit card without their husband or father in the US. Progress can take time, but each generation has generally been much better than the last.
