Biden needs Obama's support plastered all over his campaign and he'll very likely win.

Otherwise, I think people are underestimating Trump and to think that "people are scared shitless of Trump that's why the voter turnout for Biden is so high" is just the same bubble thought process that made Bernie so "big". The more likely reason is that both Hillary and Bernie were just very unattractive candidates last season.

obama going balls out for hillary didn't do jack, fwiw

i think deal with biden is midwesterners aren't particularly enthused with trump, biden could conceivably be "their guy". added the standard dem turnout, on paper it should be a not too hard win... but if 2016 taught me anything you can't rule anything out

Fuck this country dude. This was our last chance. Here's to more deportations, more people dying because of no health care, more people drowning in debt, more racial injustices being ignored, more wars killing brown people in other countries. But at least white liberals will be happy. My disdain for whites, specifically white people who pretend to be allies grows everyday.

If we don't get out the vote this fall then the redistricting for a whole decade will just push the policies we wanted further down the line. We have to vote Biden in november if he is on the ticket (honostly baring some huge ass gaf, he will be).

I'll be honest with you. I didn't think either candidate - Biden or Bernie - has a shot against Trump.

Not a knock on them. I just think tons of American's like Trump. He's a lot of things, but boring isn't one of them. They like the spectacle of it all. Think people are going to be surprised come next election cycle, and I don't think it's going to be particularly close.

He has less support now than he did in 2016, where he won by less than 100,000 votes against a historically unpopular candidate.

This.

I'm sorry, but some of you are NOT seeing what's going on out there. Some of you are underestimating Trump and his conservative machine. But Bernie cuts through that bullshit. I'm sorry, but if Biden is the nominee, we are in for more Trump.

PS: Bernies chances aren't that great either.
What bullshit does Bernie cut through? Just because his base sticks with him doesn't mean others don't react to criticism of him.

I have never understood this argument.

this doesn't make any sense. they got destroyed in 2018 and the appetite to vote out trump will be huge in november.

At least I'll get to listen to Obama talk more.

Now that's a nice consolation prize.

Is there any validity to this? I'm a Bernie supporter but I'm more than happy to vote for Biden. Fuck I'm even going to donate to his campaign.
A quick Google search will answer this. I didn't mean to infer that all of his supporters were like this, but there are literally dozens and dozens of people in this thread that seem to be getting their talking points from alt-right sites or tweets. I'm not a Biden fan, but he's a good enough candidate. Flawed, but at this point I'll take a flawed Democrat over any Republican, especially Trump.

I'd really appreciate it if leftists put as much effort into winning the nomination as they did into speculating about what will happen when they win the nomination.

Or, if you're of the opinion that the nomination is rigged, not wasting time with it and instead focusing on places where you actually can enact left wing policy.

The idea that there is a HUGE appetite to vote Trump feels like hyperbole. Go to middle america, or any conservative town/city/suburb. They might not be as vocal about it, but there are a TON of Trump supporters.

America likes a show.

I agree...as much as I like AOC too...this forum seems to not understand how much irrational hatred people have for her...

I guarantee that AOC, who is from the bluest blue NYC district and is a Justice Democrat, will never be on the ballot for President in the General Election as a Democrat.

It's substantially more likely that our first true progressive Presidential Candidate is somebody we're not even aware of yet and will come a little out of nowhere kind of like Obama. And they won't be from an ultra-blue bastion.

Seriously. Like trying to get progressives in the House or the goddamn Senate.

Whats Bidans record on schooling? like free university or is he ones of those assholes that wants you to pay

Basically Obama's plan circa 2014. Free two year trade schools and community colleges. Double Pell Grant. Freeze loan interest and repayment on all income less than 25k, with 5 percent of discretionary income due to be paid back to loans. Up to 50k loan forgiveness for public servants.

Bernie being crushed in my State of Michigan just makes me lose faith in my State. And there was nothing even left to begin with.

I wonder if ill even be motivated when November comes along.

There are less than there used to be. And, again, he won by less than 100,000 votes.

I just want the general to be over for Trump early. I'm taking Obama in '08 style where the night was over before my Chinese food was delivered.

Sanders won't speak publicly tonight.. Hopefully that means he drops out by the end of the week. Lets get in GE mode.

Irrational is putting it mildly. It's borderline pathological.
Completely...sometimes I wonder when people bring her up as next progressive candidate for president if people realize that in order to pass progressive legislation...you have to win. AOC as great as she is for the party...is never going to win a national contest...

anyway its promising that young people liked bernard overwhelmingly. its promising that socialism and singlepayer are polling so well. maybe we can actually build on a leftward movement in 10-20 years when age demographics shift around a little.

Did shit happen in North Dakota?

Who knows, I don't think any news has made it south of the wall. I was speaking about the entire cycle though. The states that have had caucuses have been a mess, and the states that switched from caucus to primary are showing how drastically unrepresentative the caucuses were

I'm sure we will see the same in ID tonight, where Sanders won almost 80% of the caucus in 2016
