Jesus Christ, Trump is going to demolish Biden. What are you thinking, America? You got so close to unseating Trump with Bernie but Biden is going to be a cakewalk for Trump. Half the time Biden isn't even coherent anymore.
How anyone can think this at this point is insane. There is ZERO empirical evidence that Bernie would have beaten Trump or that his chances were better than Biden's. He's getting beaten like a drum.

Polling says otherwise. And Hillary barely lost, and Biden is far more popular...

So WTF are you talking about?

Btw Bernie doesn't actually oppose capitalism. His policy platform would be considered right of centre in most Scandinavian countries and I hate to tell you this but those countries are still very fucking capitalist. It might not seem that way from the US, but social democracy in say Sweden is still underpinned by an extremely capitalist system it's just far better than what the US currently has.
tbh i think sanders does oppose capitalism. there's a difference between how you might package ideas (hey hey we like Scandinavia dont we folks) and the reality of your belief. Also there's a difference between what someone might want if they could wave a magic want (complete end of capitalism) and what he can feasibly call for in the congress (modest welfare provision).
there's no real reason to believe he's radically changed his views he held before when he explicitly said he's against capitalism. he's just much better at presenting his ideology to an audience. i really do think he's a socialist

I DON'T FUCKING KNOW, BECAUSE THE MAN IS NOT WELL AND HE SHOULDN'T BE PRESIDENT.

The other guy just went on Fox News and did this! Young people and independents like him! WHAT THE FUCK ARE WE EVEN DOING.

I like Bernie's positions. He's got great ideas. I enjoyed seeing him over the years on Bill Maher and shows of that nature. But he's a loser. He can't win in a general, he can't win in a primary. He has a hard ceiling of supporters and no one else wants him to be the president. I'm sorry that it hurts, but it's the stone cold truth.

The question was around the interaction with the dude whose face he got in. He says, verbatim, "well i'm surprised that sanders is joining trump, ya know, i'm just surprised..." then he mumbles and gets rushed into the car. Like, what the fuck? Was that supposed to be an attack? It comes off as an old fucking man who CAN'T PROPERLY COMPLETE HIS THOUGHTS.

Oh ok. It's a you thing.

If they don't want the republicans to win, maybe they'll need to actually fucking listen to us then. Otherwise, that sucks. I'm done with Democrats using the right like it's some hostage negotiation.

You're literally advising a small rump of militant socialists try to take everyone else hostage unless you get your way 100% of the time.

You can't be for real

I obviously meant Trump when I said "the other guy" I like Bernie better to but not enough people voted for him in the primaries.
Fair enough, my point still stands though. Joe Biden is a disaster of a candidate and I do not think that he can beat Trump. I'll vote for him, but that doesn't mean he'll win. And when that happens, people are going to be INSUFFERABLE.

Two points. First, the race is effectively over. Bernie literally cannot win. So yes, it makes sense to call for unity. Two..GOP wins. In this case, the "team" is vastly preferable to Trump so yea..root for the team.

I'm absolutely rooting for the team, but I'm not gonna give the thumbs up and pretend it's all good when Biden does something I'd expect from Trump, or brush his past transgressions under the rug and pretend they never happened. I thought that was the difference between the cult Trump turned the Republican party into and the rest of the country.

If Bernie can't win a primary of the Democratic base how's he supposed to win a general?

If he actually had the support he needed from the party in the General he absolutely could. Bernie got as far as he did fighting an incredibly stacked deck against him. The Democrats are so terrified of some mild socalism they are going to fail to stop actual facism.

I'm heavy leaning "Won't vote for Biden", but even if I do manage to choke that down, I'd still advocate for all the progressives to leave the party. It's very clear they hate us, even if we are a large part of their constituents. Let them have this last election, and then split the party so hard they won't be able to win again unless they work with us.

Jesus, stop taking this so personally. It's becoming crystal clear that Bernie is not a candidate the party sees as a leader, not a wholesale rejection of progressive ideals.

Awesome. Cool. Real glad that we're propping up a rapidly decaying old man just so he can be a rubber stamp, instead of electing a man who has a vision and has a solid fucking record in the most important election of our lifetime. Real awesome. Good job, America. Good job. Glad to see you can learn from your mistakes.
Biden didn't beat trump yet, could we get him in there first?

bernie didn't lose by a little he lost by a lot. You can't blame the voters after last week. They don't want to put forth a person who has no chance in the places it matters most.

So at this rate we're what, 20 years away from the electorate getting to an age where an actual liberal progressive can be elected?

Can you really blame them based on how Sanders and Leftists are being talked about in this very thread? Ever since ST this thread has been mocking and kicking down those of us who dreamed of a better world, don't be surprised if people are turned off the Democratic party because of it.
The problem is that almost every message from Bernie supporters here in regards to Biden either starts with..

1. Dementia
2. Billionares Won
3. Hes a Conservative
4. Rigged Primary
5. Warren is a snake..

etc etc

Thats the jumping off point for a lot of the conversation with Sanders supporters here. Thats what people end up responding to.

Dream scenario: Biden gets nomination, picks Hillary Clinton as VP. Biden defeats Trump, then dies from Coronavirus before taking office.

Hillary becomes president.

Damn this is sad. Bernie was Americas one chance for social democracy. Now it will be all status quo even if Biden beats Trump.

Sanders is underperfomring. His 2020 numbers are worse than 2016, he doesn't have a Hillary to hate on anymore. But but he is persisting to repeating the convention bullshit like 4 years ago.

Sanders should drop out. If not, the Biden camp needs to go nuclear with Fidel Casto attack ads in Florida and nuke Bernie into non-viability in the Sunshine

People keep blaming "the establishment" and other things for Bernie's losses, but at the end of the day Bernie did almost nothing to reframe socialism in a 21st century way to the 45+ year-old voters who are scared of the word, or see giant price tags on government programs and wonder how it's going to affect their taxes. He ran a very traditional leftist campaign and his message suffered for that with a skeptical electorate.

Additionally, Bernie refused to be honest with himself about the fact that the big turnout for him in 2016 compared to now was due to Hillary protest votes, not because his message resonated with all of them, and he built his campaign around the idea that all of those votes in 2016 were baked in. And thirdly, black voters just didn't feel comfortable with him for many reasons and he never did much to reach out.

Exactly.

Bernie has a ceiling. I happened to be a part of that ceiling, but the man needed to outgrow voters like me. Young bucks that don't give a shit about capitalism. He refused to grow his base, he refused to change, his consistency is a great asset but also his greatest weakness. Like, Obama was THE MOST popular Democratic President in living history. He put states back on the map we'd been missing for decades. And yet, Bernie is out there trying to pretend that didn't happen and even attacking his work. How do you think that plays with the rest of the voters that liked Obama?

He needed to show he was ready to lead the Party, to be the frontrunner, to grow his base and he failed to do it. The results are what we see. I'm bummed as hell, but it's a bed he made.

Biden wins by a lot. Thanks millennials. As someone in a later state (Pennsylvania) I'm not even going to get to vote in the primary because y'all didn't vote for Bernie. Stop with the complaining and conspiracy talk and push for change within Bidens group.
Younger millenials definitely disappointed, but the older ones sit between 30 and 39. The 30-45 bracket actually had decent turnout increases (even beating the 45-64 bracket in some states!) across the board across all the early and Super Tuesday states iirc.

The question is about Sanders and Trump both targeting him over the exchange. The reporter asks
The Sanders campaign and the Trump campaign are both targeting you over this exchange ... any regrets about how you handled it?"

People are underestimating how badly Hillary was hated. Biden is going to pick up a lot of support in the general because of him not being Hilary.

The issues are going to be how he's been white washed by the liberal media. From him talking about cutting social security to the crime bill to his disgusting treatment Anita Hill to his back a fourth on abortion's going to be weaponized by the media on the right. Also Hunter's going to be a total clusterfuck from corruption, to being with his dead brother's wife, to him ditching her for a younger women, to the drugs.

There's a real issue of dem voters being demotivated going forward. Also it's fucking awful morally but the DNC don't give a fuck about morals so they should probably keep him from debating anybody.

What progressive policy does Biden have? What *any* policy does Biden have? I've listened to most of the debates and all he ever said was "I worked with Obama on something like that before".
