Yeah so many people hate Kojima here so I fully expect a hell of a bad review thread.
Who are you to decide if Twilight Princess has no right getting that? Many people love the game, and even a "bad" Zelda is still a really good game.
I'm pretty confident Death Stranding will be at least somewhat divisive, or get its share of outlier or more negative reviews. Not everyone is going to have the patience for it, nor enjoy the copious amounts of exploration and traversal, especially when a lot of it may be much slower paced. But we'll see I guess.
Review Negativity Cycle:
1. "This particular reviewer sucks anyway. No one quote them anymore. This is a happy topic full of real people who actually play and enjoy video games."
2. "So what if several reviews are dogging it? The game is art. It's not the fans' fault that some mainstream reviewers are paid shills anyway."
3. "Chill the fuck out with all the negativity, people. Metacritic's score literally doesn't mean shit anyway. It's baseless and critics are always, always professional bullshitters. Stop paying attention to this thread and play the game. That's what I'm going to do. What? Why are you bringing up that I'm this thread's OP? So what. Reviews are stupid. Go away."
4. "The games media is a liberal front designed to tear away at all forms of capitalism including my beloved video game. I hate you."

Look, I get that's subjective, but 95% average? That game is not a near-perfect game and I don't think anyone would contest that.
Just listened to the beastcast, sounds like Dan was doing everything he can to say he can't fucking stand the game without breaking embargo lol. I found it quite funny.
I wouldn't sweat it, the game certainly isn't going to be for everyone and I'm honestly expecting reviews to be pretty divisive.

I'm talking about the two clear-cut cycles that I've seen fill review threads depending on the trending Metacritic score of a given game. Sometimes, I've even seen people switch from one cycle to the other, if reviews start trending upward or downward out of nowhere.
No chance I trust reviews on this one. The pace of reviewers just does not align with how I will play this game.
Don't think it's as "clear-cut" as you're making out but whatever, everyone has their own narrative I guess.

That guy gave us series like MGS or Zone of the Enders...
And people with the knowledge of a few gameplay demonstrations who will hate because the scores are too high, can not be taken seriously...

I just hope no one attacks any reviewers for giving the game a 6/10 because WHEW, some people take their vidya too seriously.
Honestly, whether someone loves or hates a game, so long as they aren't negative number 4 I can remain friends with them. LOL.
As someone who was incredibly hyped but ended up not liking RDR2 after I beat it, I'm extremely excited for Death Stranding. Mainly because I feel like it lacks the problems I had with Red Dead at face value.
1.DS allows for incredibly fast speed with exosuits.
2. DS actually has a hard mode so the micromanaging systems will actually be necessary.
3. DS doesn't have auto aim (i Hate auto aim)
4. DS looks like it allows for a lot more freedom in how you tackle obstacles.
I hope this game commits to its systems, I felt like RDR 2 held back so they could market it to the masses while feigning depth. This may turn people off but it looks right up my alley.

Hey if you hate it, you hate it. I hate or am indifferent to some popular games. For instance I would give Shadow of Mordor a 2, Skyrim a 4, and Mass Effect a 5.

This doesn't seem like the type of game that will have a high metacritic score in my opinion. I think it will be pretty divisive.
it's the type of game that will have multiple tens, and multiple 2's. a median would probably be more accurate than an average but in the end all that matters is how you personally feel about it.
I believe if the scores are mostly positive, the review thread will be civilized.
A few will try to write something negative but they will go down under a big wave of hype.
It's Death Stranding and majority of the people in this thread are fine with this.

Forgot the one where people ask why does anyone care about reviews in a review thread.
There's plenty of video evidence of Dan saying that this game doesn't look like it's for him, so I'm not sure why people are freaking out. He probably wouldn't like Snatcher or Policenauts either.
He only did so because he ran into a game-breaking bug that meant he couldn't' continue playing. No idea if he rescored it or anything but that was the sole reason he gave Hellblade a low score.
Was this somehow guaranteed? Ppl are assuming its DS because it's Dan, not saying it's not DS either but we also don't know if it is.
Nintendo games never deserve the high scores they get!
