Anyone know how to downsample? Locked to my monitor res, 1440p, no option to change in game.

Did you try setting your desktop to the DSR resolution before launch? Might work.

Stupid question... If you alt-tab out of the game, does the audio keep playing (ex: in borderless mode) ? I want to be able to listen to the audio while working on something else.

6700k + GTX 1080 (@ 1440p, 144hz G-Sync with an RTSS cap of 141hz, max settings)—played the first 10 minutes or so just to see how it ran, had pretty significant stuttering during the opening cutscene. Wouldn't be surprised if that's related to shader compilation/caching.

Was getting ~70–90hz in game, though obviously with a very small sample size.

Guys the stuttering has to do with the in game v-sync I think. If you disable in game and enable in your graphics control panel for example nvidia control panel set v-sync to ON you shouldn't see any stuttering in cutscenes and so on.

One thing I'm confused about. DLSS doesn't increase my FPS? if I have it on it's the same framrate as off?is it meant for high resolutions like 1440p and 4k? I play at 1080p.

It's not going to increase your frame rate if you were already hitting your vsync ceiling. ;)

Edit: Plus what Waffles says a few posts below.

There is zero reason to use DLSS if you are playing at 1080p because any card that is capable of doing DLSS can run the game at 1080p with zero performance issues.

for what it's worth, the music always plays at the right moments.

but yeah, that's something i missed in the ps4 version.

Yea, I know the music kicks in perfectly. But it would be so cool to have a mod for the majority of the time when there is none. Then again, it might make the moments hit less when it does kick in, which I remember being some of the best parts of the game.

It is probably why Kojima took it out of the game in the first place.

Yeh the intro cut scene during about half way had 4 stutters and cutscene after waking up as at 30fps, it stuttered once and went back to 60fps but otherwise this game looks right beautiful and very smooth

Question about dlss, so I just enable it? I dropped the resolution to 720p from 1080 for the performance bump but didnt do anything, probably doing it wrong lol

Damn this looks amazing on pc. 60fps makes a world of difference gameplay wise. Animations look so smooth.

So I'm playing on a 1440p Alienware UW at 120fp using dlss. Looks great.
Is there a way to supersample? Have the game render at 4K but display on my 1440p monitor?

Nvidia control Panel --> Enable DSR (2.25x should be 4k for you if I'm not mistaken) --> change your desktop resolution to 4k.
Voila.

I had it straight-up crash for me an hour or so in, which hasn't happened with any other game on my new PC (new in February, I think?), but other than that the performance has been wonderful at max settings, 1440p, DLSS 2.0 on. I have a 3700x and a 2070 Super.

DLSS is cool but the weird drifty ghosting artifacts around the edges of some stuff is still too distracting for me to leave it on, tbh

Holding off on a purchase. Still running a GTX 970 on my rig with plans to upgrade soon(?). Also waiting for graphics mods like AO in foliage.

If this is your first time playing, one thing I will say is pay attention to the strands in the sky. It'll save you a lot of trouble and help you plan your path a bit better.

Double dip urge so strong rn because of hearing this and looking at the DF stuff.
If you're a fan of the game. Get it. It looks phenomenal. Game can run over 60fps easily. What a great fucking port. Can't wait for the insane mods coming.

This bolds well for the horizon zero dawn port too.

I'm really looking forward to the mods for this game. Hopefully there's one that can remove the ghosts entirely lol.

Since I'd barely started the game, I decided to restart the game to test this theory. If the stuttering was related to shader compilation, it shouldn't happen again the second time through. Sure enough, it was totally smooth the second time. Shame that it mars the initial experience of the game, but if this holds true it means the stutters should become rare or nonexistent as you play.

Edit: To be clear, when I say there was stuttering during the opening cutscene, I mean it started (and was worst) immediately at the point where it switched from playing a video to real time rendering, and I still had some stutters during initial gameplay as well. That's consistent with it being due to shader compilation.

How well will this game perform on a NVIDIA GTX 970 with an i5-8400 and 16GB RAM at 1080p?

I really really want to buy this but I'm going to hold off until next month since this month I have already bought a bass (instrument) and I don't have money right now to spend on a new game. Hopefully I won't miss anything by waiting a bit (since there's a lot of online stuff going on with the assymetrical gameplay) right?

Okay, got my (at this point in time) exotic 4K UW resolution to show up proper. For anyone who has the "uneven", true 21:9 resolutions with the black bars left and right:

2560x1080 = 26 B4 17 40
3440x1440 = 8E E3 18 40
5120x2160 = 4E B4 17 40

Replace 55 55 15 40 with desired value above in the exe in a hex editor of choice (i. e. HxD).
this should be bookmarked or added to the OP vestan

On top of Full Steam Input support for all sorts of wild customisation across so many controllers, the game does have a setting for enabling the original BB soothing motion controls!

Definitely pretty weird that it heavily advertised ultrawide support and then I comb through the resolutions available and see "3360x1440" instead of 3440, easily fixable with a hex editor but I shouldn't have to.
