Yep, first impressions are very significant stuttering in cutscenes and gameplay. Averaging around 110 FPS but seeing drops to 70. Plays pretty terribly as a result. CPU usage and GPU usage is low.

Running max settings, quality DLSS using a 3700x, RTX 2070, 16 gigs 3600, G-sync on.

...slowly backing away from the purchase button now. Will be watching to see how this develops.

I'm getting a fair amount of stuttering during the opening cut scene. Anyone else?

(2080Ti, 8700k, SSD, max settings 21:9 with DLSS)

EDIT: OK I see I'm not alone.

I've had zero issues with the game on my end. And I'm running it on RSAA 2.0.

Here are my specs:

AMD Ryzen 3700x
RTX 2070 Super
16 GB RAM

First time playing this.Really enjoying this so far but only have done the prologue.

It is fantastic to see at a high framerate and also I'm so happy with the controls options. Has official steam controller support, even though I still adjusted them to my preferences it's still great overall. The vibration also works just right through the steam controller.

Plus the best part I wish all games would have is the ability to choose which button prompts to have the game display! Nice option in general and in particular for the steam controller I like to use mouse input while the buttons still are gamepad bindings, having it auto switch prompts between kb/m and controller constantly is always an annoying problem. Just by having the option to show specific button prompts you want is a godsend.

I'm getting a little screen tearing and I have a gsync display. If I turn vsync on I get the stuttering.
9700k and 2080 super.

Update to this. Stuttering went away when I changed my monitor's refresh rate to match the max FPS set in game. Originally I was set to 100Hz in NVCP (This is to allow 10 bit color while in HDR mode on my CRG9) so I changed it to 120hz. Not a single stutter in the opening cut scene.

Could the stuttering be a Denuvo issue? DF didn't mention any stuttering in their analysis video, and they tested on different setups.

2080Ti, 2700x, SSD, 60Hz monitor, vsync on, all maxed out: stuttering in the opening cinematics and in the opening scene on motorbike.
Very first area seems to be OK, but I haven't gone past that.

Just launching the game but seeing "Sony interactive" at the begining is very funny to see on a pc game haha

I'm about 2 hours in and holy shit what a difference 60fps makes, also DLSS 4K in quality mode looks much clearer to my eye than the 4K mode did on my PS4 Pro.

BTW does anyone know if this supports HGIG HDR, because it kinda looks like it does?, when I toggle between the 3 settings on my C9 HGIG looks the most accurate and it's definitely doing something cause it looks worse when it's off.

Also I have my PC set to 8bit full RGB and the black levels on my C9 set to high with HDR enabled... am I doing it right?

It was stuttering and hitching for me as well during the start but after an hour in I haven't seen a single one, maybe it's a shader thing?

32k players, game is doing better than i thought it would. Puts it around 300k copies, on launch day. It could potentially hit 1 million in a couple of months, bodes well for horizon numbers.

OK, I've decided I'm actually gonna compile all the moments in the open-world where music plays and put it in a big video. I already have a list of when this moments play so I'll keep an eye out for them.

Is there a PC performance thread?

I'm 100fps+, everything maxed with DLSS on at whatever the 21:9 resolution is which is just amazing. It's odd to me that I can't set the 21:9 resolution option to 3440x1440 (or, I don't have that option). Just me? The closest option is like 3800x1400 or some such which leaves a little real estate on the edges of the screen that I can't use.

I restarted the game with DLSS quality + 60fps limit in game, and stuttering has completely gone at the beginning...time to properly play the game now :)
That was my experience. Seems smooth now.

Awesome!

lol don't worry it'll be well worth the wait, the game already looked gorgeous on PS4 but god damn it looks fucking amazing on PC and my 2070 super and 3600 are having zero issues running the game at max settings with DLSS 4K in quality mode at a locked 60fps.

Yeah, they render the game in real 21:9 ratio (PC monitors aren't quite that). I fixed it by hex editing (replace 55 55 15 40 by 8E E3 18 40 in the exe in a hex editor of choice) but now I'm limited to 3440x1440

Regarding your PC settings to the LG C9 TV, I would say you are not doing it right.

Check out this recent thread which has suggested settings in it when playing HDR games on Windows - https://www.resetera.com/threads/hdr-gaming-on-pc-what-settings-are-you-using.245782/

The game doesn't support vsr right? I'm trying to downsample but more than 1080p resolutions doesn't appear.

Playing for nearly 1.5h now and the stuttering is gone.
I had to previously cap the framerate.

Nice! thanks for letting me know dude, I have a 2070 Super as well. That sounds really good.

Weird to see Death Stranding and Horizon Zero Dawn on Steam's best global seller list.

Yup, plus MCC and Sea of Thieves up there too somewhere.

cross posting this on the DF analysis thread to see if anyone else is getting this:

"So everything is working great for me except sometimes during cutscense the frame rate dips pretty hard, not sure why. I'm using Alex's optimized settings, I have RTX 2080, i9 9900, 32GB RAM. When I'm not running vsync I get 75+ FPS. My GPU is always sitting at around 75% usage so not sure what's going on there. "

beautiful game can't wait to get off work and actually play.

*takes notes*

Will definitely reference this if I decide to take action. I didn't realize 3440x1440 wasn't real 21:9, though. Maybe I should keep it as is, then.

Looks like my stuttering has gone away completely now, and I've not touched my settings one bit to try fixing it. Almost seems like the game was processing shaders in the background, kind of like CEMU does with Zelda BOTW.

505 Should consider doing a patch that allows for a shader preload if this is indeed the case, similar to how Call of Duty: Modern Warfare handles this because it leaves a terrible first impression of the game.

Runs great on a 1080ti.

Have experienced some stuttering in the beginning cutscene with a bike but they were gone shortly after. Also, noticed some areas fully max out my CPU (8600k @ 5Ghz) which is weird as nothing is happening in the areas.

if Ghost of Tsushima wasn't out in 3 days I would be all over this, god damn.

Launch window is definitely the best time to play this game too with the social strand system.

True 21:9 res with hex editor

Okay, got my (at this point in time) exotic 4K UW resolution to show up proper. For anyone who only sees the "uneven", true 21:9 resolutions in the settings with the black bars left and right:

2560x1080 = 26 B4 17 40
3440x1440 = 8E E3 18 40
5120x2160 = 4E B4 17 40

Replace 55 55 15 40 with desired value above in ds.exe in a hex editor of choice (i. e. HxD, 010 Editor).

Any 6700k/1070 users here? I need a performance report! The game is like 70 bucks here in Norway. More than what I paid for the original PSN release.

Had some initial stuttering during the opening bike sequence but it's smooth sailing now. Leaving this thread until I beat the game :p

Yeah you are getting that thing that I got once, no clue. They are generally always 60, but then randomly are not sometimes?!

That one time I had it run at 60 but have 30 fps animation was the weirdest one.
I had this in the cutscene after you deliver Morphine to Bridget. I had to alt tab out then it went back to 60 FPS, really odd.
