Anyhoot, my take on the trailer is that a GOTG tier experience is incoming. The only things I'm meh on are 1. MAKE AMERICA WHOLE sounds far lamer than what the world seems to be and 2. Calling a female character "Fragile" could be a pretty bad move, thankfully a couple details here and there seem to hint it's a plot point.

I love how if you paid attention to the previous trailers, nothing in this new one is that surprising. Everything that was hinted at is basically confirmed.

Yet you still have people like "what do you even do?" lol.

Other than finding it super weird to see film directors like Del Toro and Winding Refn as characters in this game, that trailer was fucking awesome and this game is going to be one for the history books.

3-4 years to build a studio from scratch and make a new IP of this grandeur. Phenomenal.

Pretty sure Kojima is speaking through Mads at the end there.

"you'll see it all soon". "you can travel anywhere. the whole world. Even the moon"

holy fuck please tell me we go to the moon. this is entirely bonkers and i'm here for it.

The terrorist organization though???? I couldn't understand the name--I kept hearing "Homo Demons"????

Midgar, With Love
I'm gonna remain kind of skeptical until launch after my feelings leading up to MGSV and the unfortunates validation therein. We may have just witnessed moments from almost every cutscene in the game. At least Kojima isn't talking about replacing what would have been cutscenes in previous games with radio tapes. We haven't heard anything similar... yet, at least.

Look, I want to believe! I truly do. Game looks amazing, sounds amazing, and the gameplay itself looks right up much alley too. But the jadedness won't either away until... well, until it does, hopefully.

I don't enjoy raining on parades though so I won't post much about Death Stranding for now. I hope it's as GOTG as it has the potential to be. :)

This is everything I've wanted, and more..

Oh my god. This sounds incredible.

Journey between life and death

Begin your quest to save civilisation in a broken world rife with supernatural dangers.

Face unique challenges

Arm yourself and take aim at a variety of objectives in your mission to reunite a broken nation, while balancing under the weight of your cargo as you travel. Protect your supplies from wild bandits, and stay safe from the terrifying Beached Things… or face failing those who depend on you.

Explore the world

The Decima Engine renders a hyper-realistic landscape utterly transformed by the Death Stranding. Unpassable obstacles block your path and force you to find different routes, while supernatural elements alter the physical state of your surroundings.

Death is not the end

There is no traditional 'game over' state in Death Stranding. Lose your life during combat and you'll find yourself in an upside-down realm, searching for a way back to the living. Choose your combat methods carefully, as killing your foe is almost never the solution – and every death carries a consequence.

Assist other players

Help other travellers without ever crossing paths via asynchronous online gameplay. Send supplies, share safe houses and walk in the footsteps of fellow couriers to reunite civilisation.

I think there will be an in-depth look of how it plays eventually.
This trailer was more focused on giving a synopsis of the game and reveal the release date.

This sounds awesome, and probably the clearest description of the game so far.

It might be a reference to that movie and Sarah Connor is one of the most badass woman in any movie at least that's my opinion.
I don't think it's a homage, Kojima isn't subtle when borrowing from his icons. Sarah Connor like Ripley before her were steps forward but don't stand the test of time. People praise Kojima for The Boss but she was rooted in old school ideas of how to make a "strong female character". Kojima has fucked up gender politics (in regards to men too, see Otacon, Vamp, and Raiden) and doesn't understand women nor wants to.

Something about that KojiPro aesthetic, always easy on the eyes.

Time to start saving some dollarydoos.

I wonder how interesting the environments will be to navigate? They look beautiful but they also are very empty and seem to have little to no landmarks, camps, animals, or anything else for that matter. Aside from that war setting where I assume you go when you die.

It is refreshing to see that with real actresses, kojima had to dial down his pervy tendencies for their clothing/character models unlike the models he cast for MGSV/MGS4.

I think that may be intentional. Vast, open, lonely tracts of land you traverse while avoiding BTs and Homodemens/demons (not sure if the guy in yellow are part of the latter group or not). Then in "Hades", it's in war and death and action and stuff. A contrast that may work in the game's favor.

I really want to see behind the scenes of Lindsay Wagner's performance eventually

Those paragraphs on game details have sold me. I think it's the open world that Kojima wants to make, I did fear (and do continue) that it's just walking between long cutscenes.

Everytime I see Lindsay Wagner's character I think it's Tricia Helfer.

Howling at Troy Baker's character removing his mask only to reveal another mask.
