I'm one of those people who doesn't even like having socks on, so shoes are shot off whenever I get home. I don't care what others do when around, have wooded floors so easy enough to clean.

Having grown up where it's very normal to keep your shoes on, but having spent half my life taking them off, there's only one answer
I don't think I could not take my shoes off going into a house, it just sounds wrong.

I don't take my shoes off until I go to bed.
When I change into my sleepwear, I put on my runners and wear them until I lie down.

After living in Japan I can't go back. The idea of wearing shoes in the house, unnecessarily tracking mud/dirt/whatever all over, just seems alien now.
If I'm home (with shoes on) I'm either sleeping, standing, or sitting at my desk in my computer chair. I don't put my feet on much of anything.
I'm relieved to see the results are so in favor of shoes off.

You're watching sitcoms, i.e. actors on a working set, of course they're going to wear shoes. Don't assume they reflect reality.

Maybe their feet wouldn't stink if they, you know, took their shoes off regularly.
We take ours off for comfort but it isn't a rule. When we move I would like a place with a better entryway to facilitate quick shoe removal.
It's not an American habit.

Yeah that map is wrong. The first hit was Reddit and not Wikipedia, who have a different map. I was also surprised by Iran.

UK is blue, yeah,that's fishy. Unless it's a house party, every place I've visited, it's footwear off.
