I still have faith that the character of Phasma could deliver something great.

As far as Fett goes, I would totally watch a limited series where he takes his name back from Jodo Kast. Mainly because Jodo Kast is the man.

Legends EU spoilers
He crawled out of the Sarlacc Pit, and his end was being a very old man who was the last Mandalorian leader who played a role in destroying Darth Caetus. In doing so he got infected with a nanobot virus that prevented him from returning to Mandalore.
Also everybody is now mandalorian if you truly just believe it! (Those storylines were awful)

Phasma was explored heavily in canon and basically all of it was trying to explain her actions in dropping the shield while still being an elite military soldier who led all the first order troops. Oh and explaining how she survived Starkiller Base too (while hunting down anyone who knew about her being a traitor and covering it up).

Isn't the Mandalorian about Fett? The trailer even has Fett's chief rival IG-88 in it along with Han frozen on Carbonite.

So Far in canon, The Fetts are not Mandalorian.
Boba is a clone, Jango it's still Ambiguous While Mandalore Government dismisses him as a common bounty hunter but Jango claims that he comes from Concord Dawn.

If anything, the next series will be a sequel to Rebels, with Ahsoka, Ezra, Thrawn, and Sabine at the forefront.

If they're ballsy enough, they go live action. If not, they continue with the animated approach.

Do a "Tales from Jobber's Palace" or something where all the cool but useless characters have adventures and lose every week.

They are already setting this up pretty heavily in the last Thrawn book with that new species that is sort of the new canon Yuuzhan Vong. That's definitely the direction at least one branch of the canon is going.

100% agreed - and I was hoping that it would lead into the films a bit and maybe get Rey + Kylo and the Resistance to join forces with the First Order to battle against the common enemy, but as time goes on that becomes more and more unlikely.

It's a weird thing. Many of the books have alluded to a galactic-level threat coming from the unknown regions, with Palpatine building toward it and constantly being vigilant against it...but the movies have, thus far, made no mentions at all.

Both Phasma comics do nothing but make her seem like an even more horrible person. All she does is fail over and over again and essentially everyone around her dies. Her first comic mini series is nothing but her hunting down and killing everyone who knows she failed in TFA. In the other comic she's just ruthless and so extremely unlikable.

So who wins in a contest of unlikability between Phasma and Doctor Aphra?

We need a series about the Galactic Senate written by Aaron Sorkin. With Palpatine as the lead.

Aphra has fun adventures? Phasma literally just murders everyone around her and is always angry and serious.
Fair enough. Havent read any of the Phasmas books personally, but I've just been kind of confused by what they are going for with Aphra generally being a relentless jerk-ass to everyone she meets for issue upon issue.

Why are Star Wars fans so obsessed with trying to make Boba Fett happen? He's a little bitch of a character. Let him be.

I'm not much of an Aphra fan but she has some light hearted moments and bit more fun in the series. She's kind Mary Sue-ish with how she gets involved with every character in the SW universe it seems and somehow one ups them all always. She's a shit person who they try to write off as 'she knows she is', so we feel sorry for her. They keep straddling the line with her as shes bad!!!!.... no shes not that bad... but then does bad things.

Phasma is just a bad person, and she only gets to her position of power by being a backstabber

Phasma has to be one of the biggest disappointments of this new series. Get a wonderful actress and throw her in a totally uninspired costume to have her be completely useless in both movies.

Pass.

You are getting a boba fett series - just with a different mandalorian - since he had no personality its the same

Phasma is a terrible character

Just squint while watching The Mandalorian and it will basically be the same thing. Same costume on the same planet working the same job with the same associates.

I think the best you can probably hope for with Phasma is that they cement her Kenny status and bring her back for one more round in TRoS.

Cool design. "Man of mystery". Years of stories some of which manage to turn him into something more than a glorified extra/jobber. But yeah, still, overall its not much of a loss to just move on at this point, which is part of why I'm excited that The Mandalorian is NOT Fett. Keep what works about the character but ditch the guy that just stands around and then dies a fools death.

Phasma is about the lowest tier a character can get in my eyes... I'd much rather they do something with someone more interesting like a Darth Bane/Revan if they don't want to give them movies.

Hot taek, but I don't like the Phasma design either.

I imagine every episode of the Captain Phasma series plays out like a Looney Tunes cartoon where she keeps getting dropped into different kinds of holes. Sort of like Wile E. Coyote constantly having his ACME tools blowing up in his face.

I don't get why The Mandalorian couldn't simply be about Boba Fett. It's the same appearance/armor and the same job (Bounty Hunting). All they needed to do was to set up a scene about Boba escaping from the Saalac Pit.

because then you have to tell the story about a clone whose dad was murdered by the jedi right in front of his eyes and who got dumped into a Sarlacc and so on and so on.

Like, the amount of baggage Boba has is gigantic. The storytellers were looking for more of a clean slate here.
