As HBO continues to plot an expansion of its Game of Thronesuniverse, more clues emerge about what directions the expansion could go into.

We hear that HBO is developing a trio of ideas for new projects set within George R.R. Martin's fictional world. They include 9 Voyages aka Sea Snake, Flea Bottom and 10,000 Ships. Of the three, the Sea Snake project appears to more fully formed, with a creative team on board to develop it including Bruno Heller, while the other two are believed to be ideas that are being explored with no writers attached yet. HBO declined comment.

The 9 Voyages series refers to the great voyages at sea made by Corlys Velaryon aboard the Sea Snake ship. Velaryon journeyed to places including Pentos, Dragonstone and around the bottom of Westeros as well as to Lys, Tyrosh and Myr. He reached the fabled lands of Yi Ti and Leng, whose wealth doubled that of the House Velaryon, and him and the Ice Wolf headed north searching for passage around the top of Westeros, only to find frozen seas and icebergs as big as mountains.

The Mentalist creator, Rome co-creator and Gotham developer Bruno Heller is understood to be involved in this project along with Martin.

There is also a project set in Flea Bottom, which is the poorest slum district in King's Landing, a maze-like warren of narrow streets and dark alleys filled with tanneries, brothels and ale houses. It is featured in the first four seasons of Game of Thrones, including when William's Arya Stark takes refuge there after fleeing the Red Keep. Characters from Flea Bottom include Ser Davos Seaworth, played by Liam Cunningham, Gendry, the bastard son of King Robert Baratheon, played by Joe Dempsie, prostitute Armeca, played by Sahara Knite and Karl Tanner, a brother of the Night's Watch played by Burn Gorman.

Lastly, there is a show based around the 10,000 Ships, a reference to the journey made by warrior queen Princess Nymeria and the surviving members of the Rhoynars, who travelled from Essos to Dorne following their defeat by the Valyrian Freehold in the Second Spice War. This migration took place around 1,000 years before the events depicted in the A Song of Ice and Fire novels. Arya Stark, played by Maisie Williams, named her direwolf after Nymeria.

I really wanted the backstory of Dorne expanded upon, so I'm interested in the Nymeria prequel.

But I really don't want all of these prequels :(

This is the least interesting prequel idea of the ones they have developed thus far.

All these stories sounds kinda meh.

Would prefer an adaption to Martin's The Ice Dragon. I know it's not supposed to be connected to ASOIAF, but fuck it. Say it is.

Nah, you guys are wrong.

Corly Velayron's Sea Voyages are the most interesting prequel they can do.

Especially since they've cast a black male to play Corlys Velaryon in the House of Dragon prequel.

Imagine a GOT prequel headed by a black man. That'd be great.

Also we'd get perspectives of so many other different cultures too.

For the record, this is who is playing Corlys Velaryon in the House of the Dragon prequel:

The only thing I'd really be interested in at this stage is "The Legendary Adventures of Sandor Clegane"...but he's dead .

(although he was alone with Melisandre for a while when Arya went off..so I suppose they could bring him back with a dash of fan fiction).

Completely agree — and as someone who enjoys the world outside of Westeros but would like to see it made a bit more three dimensional, I think this is a great direction for the tv adaptation of ASOIAF. Very excited to see the Sea Snake's travels!

I have no idea what they're going to do with Flea Bottom, but the other two sound like great ideas for shows.

At first I thought that they were going to do a SAND snakes spinoff and was losing my mind

The Sea Voyages idea sounds the most interesting to me.

Oh man, this is one I didn't expect, but it's now definitely the one I want the most. I loved hearing about him in Fire & Blood and World of Ice and Fire.

Wherever
A Sea Snake voyage show would be kind of a dream for me. I just want anything that displays more of this wide world. My worry is that it would be ruinously expensive, but I guess the original show did indeed cost a pretty penny so maybe it's not a worry. Nymeria show would be cool too. I want to see Sothoryos and the mysterious ruins of Yeen!!!

You shouldn't need to do a prequel or a sequel, you can just tell a story inside of that world.

Prior to the final season, if you had told me that HBO had multiple prequels planned for Game of Thrones my hype would have been uncontrollable.

At this point...I'm indifferent. I expect the worse from HBO on this, and I doubt I will tune in.

I thought 9 Voyages aka Sea Snake, Flea Bottom and 10,000 Ships was the name of 1 show and thought, yeah that sounds like GRRM.

Theres no way the 1st game of thrones ever gets a contuition

Like making a sequel to super man 2 that ignores 3 and 4

Super man returns is not something to be repeated

I said it mostly cheekily, but it's not hard to imagine a world in which, had season 8 not sucked, people would be quoting that line expectantly like a damn Twin Peaks shtick.

Like they can take any of the characters and give them a mini-series, Arya would be super interesting, and Jon would definitely be popular. I know getting the cast back together is probably logistically and financially impossible so that would be the best option.

Dany gets ressurected by some mysterious red priests in Valyria and comes back for revenge. Burns the kingdom again.
There are 30 of those type of show canon fanfics

Time travellingbkids versions

Peggysues (unrelatedbto normal sue terminology in fanfic, refrence to movie, basically conciese transfer to the past like wolverine in that xmen days of future past movie"
Like howl of the dragonwolves

Though most peggy Sue's take after hypothetical book canon and send characters back from an others bad ending like the ravens plan

Unrelated to time travel The one with the valeryia secret society called darkest of days or something is probs the best post season 8 dany returns fic

Now a flaw all show canon fanfics run into is that they ar continuing off something bad and a song of ice and fire adaptations are not a thing that can have a single bad season and recover like some network comedy show or something

The most likley thing an contuition movie or season 9 would be is a final story probs with a returned dany or something that ends on an intentionally unsatisfying and vague point of an ending

Like a worse version of el camino (which isnt that good of a breaking bad epilogue anyway)

What? Did I miss an interview or something where this was said?
No one has ever heard back from people that have sailed west of westeros, closest thing is corylys claiming to see a ship of elissa carmen at asshiah but that's unreliable,
Brandon the shipwright dispearringbled to brandon the burner dearoying the northern fleet

Theres been no tech uplift of boats and sailing in a game of thrones to believe Arya would make it to planetos america or essos succesffuly

Same way mo sis t of the unsullied died to butterfly fever on naath
