Wasn't there a Golden Axe revival thing last gen that was terrible?

Surprised Sega NEVER tried anything with Streets of Rage. The series still has recognition to this day and yet they really never released a new game post-Genesis.

About Suikoden... the main series has been dormant since 2006, but a DS spinoff was released in 2008 and a PSP one in 2012. (Never played either though)

Man, this thread is depressing. So many good things with plenty of potential left on the table.

Tried to play the DS one but never finished it. It was an ok game but not very Suikoden.
Would like to try the PSP Suikoden but my Japanese is very non-existent.

Burnout hurts so bad. I'd love even just a remaster of the first 4 games released as a pack.

If that's not possible get them on BC. Do something.

Hm I haven't thought about remasters, i really dont know If remaster should be considered as a New game, remake its easier to accept since the game is remade. But remaster is in the Middleground of Port and remake.

Lol, it does get blurry.

For me, a remaster is a game that was released on old gen consoles and rereleased on current at the time gen consoles and given a bump in resolution/fps, such as DMC, MGS, TLoU, FFX, GTAV.

But then you have games like DMC4:SE, which is like a remaster but they gave us new playable characters and a few new cutscenes.....and I think new modes as well. That's the tricky one lol.

Wing Commander is dead. One of the greatest SF universes ever made for gaming medium. The last proper entry in the franchise was 1997's Wing Commander Prophecy. The last time anyone did anything with the IP was Wing Commander Arena for Xbox 360 in 2007.

c013b9f5ac51fc4c28a6cac5ac22a55c25ff9fdb

Another one is Novalogic's Delta Force. The last truly new entry in the series was 2003's Delta Force: Black Hawk Down. Then we got two remakes, with the second one, called Delta Force Xtreme 2, coming in 2009.
Novalogic was working on sequel, called Delta Force: Angel Falls, but it was cancelled. A year ago THQ bought the rights to Novalogic' games, so maybe this one will get ressurected.

You wouldn't want to play the PSP Suikoden.
I played it and got all 108 "Stars of Destiny", and the only reason I could do it is because it has the name Suikoden.

The Lost frontier is that bad?

Kind of. It's basically a pretty damn good aerial combat game, with a mediocre version of the PSP Ratchet and Clank games but with a Jak & Daxter skin. It also has a nonsensical plot; an example being that they spend the whole game with this character who doesn't say his name, then at the end he reveals it, and it's of absolutely no relevance to anything. It'd be like if Darth Vader announced to Luke that he was just a guy named Gordon or something.

It's also glitchy as all hell. On my new game + playthrough, I skipped about 70% of the game. Basically, there's a level that you go through at the beginning, then come back to right at the end. When I went to enter it for the first time, when I left it treated it as though I was leaving for the last time.

come on. this would have been valid until last year but it's no longer valid. Samus Returns is better than several of the good Metroid games. only the absolute best games in the series come on top of it.

I would have said Toejam & Earl, but there's a new one being made so woot!

For me that leaves Desert/Jungle Strike games. Man I would love another one of those to be made.

1080° from Nintendo (2003)
Kessen from Koei (2005) - well, we can count Bladestorm as an entrance to the franchise. More or less.
Snowboard Kids (1999 if we dont count the DS one) since Atlus is printing money with Persona they forgot about the Kids. :(

The DS game is the only Suikoden I've played. It felt like a very generic RPG but I had fun with it. It also had a shocking amount of voice acting for a DS game.

Ah that sucks :( Well I will never play those Pachinko machines anyway!

Yeah I have Desert Strike for MegaDrive and remember playing Nuclear Striker on PS1. Would love a new one.

I miss Castlevania :( altho all these awesome Metroidvania indie games fill the void nicely. DeadCells and Hollow Knight are the most recent ones i really like.

Really hoping Bloodstained can compete with em since it's made/directed by the guy who made the awesome igavania CV games.

Pretty sad to see lots of fantastic videogame franchises dead on the list.

Eggerland/Adventures of Lolo-series. Last entry was 2000 or 2001 for Windows.

criminal. such an easy win for nintendo to pop some new levels on switch and include a level creator. lolo still has placement in smash brothers right? this one is a timeless puzzler like tetris, and should never be discarded.

The Secret of Monkey Island (2D point and click), - The Curse of Monkey Island "1997"

The last remake of Monkey Island 2 is from 2010..

For me the 2,5 D game and Telltale game are a different series

But I hope Monkey Island is not dead..

@ Disney give the IP back to Ron Gilbert...

Honestly, I think you're 5+ year qualifier is a little too strict, especially when we're talking about 3-4 year dev cycles nowadays.

That means if a dev leaves a franchise, develops a new IP entry and then starts and is two years into development of the old franchise, you'd consider it dead if we knew not what they were doing.

Yeah, I think your 5 year cut off should actually be extended, otherwise we're just lumping in "franchises we haven't seen in a while" with "franchises that have very low chances of making a return".

I miss Suikoden, Lunar and Advance Wars so much it hurts. Let me add two more that I miss:

Growlanser - Growlanser IV: Wayfarer of time (PSP) in 2011, but the last numbered one was VI : Precarious World for PS2 in 2007...

Pocky & Rocky - Pocky & Rocky with Becky from 2001 for GBA.
