You know what? I'm gonna give it a chance. I've only really tried Enter the Gungeon, so maybe I just need to find the right game for me.
Honestly, the procedural generation is light. All the levels have certain focuses, and certain modular themes recur throughout. There are surprise Elite bosses and various layouts, but once you have run a stage a few times, it feels familiar and you are able to know what generally lies ahead. You know what? I'm gonna give it a chance. I've only really tried Enter the Gungeon, so maybe I just need to find the right game for me.

What do you mean? It got worse?Oh boy, that switch handheld framerate is rough now. Especially with poison clouds, it dips to what feels like sub 20.
I'll agree here, never had an issue with performance.I don't know what to say dude. It's one of my favorite Switch games from the day it released. Its performance has never been a problem for me in any way which affected me to play the game, including beating it on 0-Cell and getting close on 1-Cell - and no, its performance has never been the reason why I failed a run.
They made a bunch of smaller performance improvements in the weeks after release before 1.1, so maybe those are what prevented me from experiencing any issues? Either way, Dead Cells was my favorite Switch game in 2018.
Yeah, performance seems somehow worse on handheld now
I was not going to buy it just yet because of my huge backlog but I was decided to buy it asap. Not anymore since I'll want to play handheld most often. Sad
Overall performance in handheld mode is a lot better, but yeah there does seem to be a bug with some effects like poison which drag things down to be worse than they were before the patch. :-(I'd like some other reports of this, because there's only a few people complaining about this. I'm worried about being crazy.
It definitely seems worse overall to me. The second area is really bad. I assumed I'd notice it feeling a lot better instantly, but it's pretty damn terrible now, I think because possibly the frame rate range swings more wildly?Overall performance in handheld mode is a lot better, but yeah there does seem to be a bug with some effects like poison which drag things down to be worse than they were before the patch. :-(
Not really a fair comparison. Shovel Knight isn't a metroidvania, and isn't trying to do the same things. It's basically a new Mega Man + Ducktales.Dead Cells spoiled me when it comes to metriodvania. I moved onto Shovel Knight and it's so much stiffer in comparison. The fast past fluidity or DC can't be matched.

You have to find the blueprint - I got it in the Ancient Sewers, not sure if it pops anywhere else. You need a skill that you get upon beating the game for the first time to reach it.Is this in the console one? How do you get it? It wasn't showing up for me like the previous money blueprints.
- The 5th money blueprint is now available ingame. Version 1.1.3
I read that there was an issue about the game crashing that seemed related to old runs prior to the update and that the problem disappeared when starting everything anew.I see I'm not alone with the handheld woes. I smoked a little weed last night, and settled into bed SO excited to boot this back up. Then when I got to the second area, things just went downhill.
Performance is noticeably much worse in handheld mode now, and I HATE that an ugly update label with "pimp my run" has been slapped across the otherwise beautiful title screen. What was the dev thinking... =(
Ah, thank you. I'll check out that area. You have to find the blueprint - I got it in the Ancient Sewers, not sure if it pops anywhere else. You need a skill that you get upon beating the game for the first time to reach it.
Do the poison clouds not create frame drops in docked mode?Docked mode on Switch is great now.
Could not stand the stuttering/drops before but now it is quite smooth 60fps most of the time. When it drops it is not as low or as long - it does not affect the gameplay/controls like before
I don't exactly know because I don't own the game yet, I am interested in it but I'm a bit weary of the performance issues people mention here. Basically people estate that handheld mode is worse than before when using poison cloud weapons.Have not noticed an issue with anything special. Where are the poison clouds? Could be i never seen one.. (only played 5-6 levels over and over)
