Also, there are plenty of people on this forum who imply Sea of Thieves is an amazing title and their GOTY etc, not just some of the regular Xbox enthusiasts either, but a couple of mods etc too. You often find review aggregates and user opinions differing on here.

And Days Gone isn't being excused for all its flaws, it's simply that some haven't experienced many of them (bugs etc) and others enjoy it enough to compensate for them, not too dissimilar to countless games that have been buggy but still enjoyed by many. Then again, it's not like I expect you to offer a fair or rationale outlook on these things given you've been ragging on Days Gone from the offset.

I think part of that might have to do with Bend Studio itself, who are an underdog of sorts. It's been over 10 years since they released a AAA title, and when they started making Days Gone there were only 60 people at the studio. Even now the studio is still only around 130 strong. In comparison Bioware is what, 800+? The expectation is often higher from certain studios or franchises versus others. I think some likely appreciate the ambitiousness of what Bend has tried to pull off in terms of overall production, visuals, scope, scale and tech etc, even if they didn't necessarily completely nail it all.

It's sad that the hate is so high over this game that people have to constantly spread straight up lies about its fanbase, their reception and criticism. I guess this makes perfect sense for ppl engaged in corporate warfare, console wars, I dunno call it what you like. I just can't stand it. Looks like it's time to check out from DG threads for a while.

What you're seeing now is people mad that some are enjoying a game when one they liked didn't get as much attention. To try and balance out the positivity they'll show up in every thread saying the same things, making some up to try and make their point, showing double standards and hypocrisy. All because of console wars.

Sad thing is most of them are probably over the age of 12. Possibly even parents themselves. Imagine coming home and finding your dad being weird on the internet and PornHub isn't even involved.

I really don't understand where all the negativity around this game is coming from. I'm finding it a mostly really solid and enjoyable game within its genre. Nothing to get so worked up over.

Fantastic game in the pure fun and atmosphere departments, I can't wait to dig in again tonight. Sure there's jank and weirdness keeping it from being one of them elusive masterpieces, but I'm really impressed by what Bend created here as well as the ambition of it all. The world is great and I like the various gameplay loops and approaches to combat (stealth, melee, ranged, sniping).

Everyone I have seen talking about the game (including me) understands that it has flaws. What matter is how much fun the game is, which is something most people agree on.

Just posting a cherry picked video about bugs doesn't help you prove your point because people realize it has them but it doesn't destroy the experience. Skyrim is one of the buggiest games I have ever seen or played and yet I don't see people hating it as much, even when it does have game breaking bugs that made me have to use mods to fix it (I had to transfer my save from PS3 to PC then go to a friends house to fix some game breaking glitches through mods).

Are you serious? Bethesda game at launch are far worse in terms of bug and glitch that is not even a contest and they score 9-8 like nothing with a gameplay, story and graphics much inferior to days gone.

Even ac saga is not famous for his polish at launch, unity was a shit show at launch and the last 2 chapters run like shit on pc with an absurd 100% cpu load, and i can surely argue that gameplay loop, characters and story are not so much better than days gone onestly.

You talk like days gone is the buggiest open world ever created, you can't be for real do you?

Sony Bend created a solid game that appeals to the mass market. Great to see that major US outlets are irrelevant to the big picture.

The mass market enjoys bad things all the time, look at the transformers films or the twilight series. Just because something is popular and sells well does not make it good or even decent, just that it's popular. That doesn't make critical reviews from outlets both in the US and abroad irrelevant, it just means they're being asked to view things from a critical eye and give their singular opinion. Days gone isn't even bad it just seems like a decent 7/10.

I have to agree with this.

Looking at other recent low scoring games, even past ones...the user score is interesting.

Doesn't matter. I'm just waiting for the sales thread. That is going to be something else.

There's nothing wrong with liking a game with a mediocre meta. There just seems to be a lot of feelings on era when it comes to certain first party games like days gone and gt sport.

It's a lower rated game that was getting blasted in previews. It's full of bugs and cringe-inducing, laughable stuff. The publisher has created an accolades trailer that hilariously tries to paint the game in a positive light with outlets like the daily star

I think the game looks good personally I just found putting the Daily Star on a list of reviews as some sort of achievement funny as it's a shitty tabloid.

What choice does Sony really have?

I imagine they've invested millions into DG, they can't pull and MS/CD3 and pretend the game doesn't exist. Better to grasp at straws and the reviews like that from the Daily Star and try to sell a few copies than take the hit and move on.

Yes this is sad. One of her favorite games is Bloodborne I don't think Era will have an issue with that

I dont have a problem with people expressing bad feelings towards a game and I do not consider that "shit on them". To me is as bad that you praise a game based on who's developing/publishing it as it is to talk bad about it based on the same, I do not make a difference. The opinion is equally useless to me and it just adds noise and forces me to keep tabs on users to know if its a genuine opinion or not. An honest opinion is good whether is bad or not and i do not consider talking bad about a game having an agenda any worse than talking good for the same reasons.

Yup. Same here. Its a perfectly serviceable, often fun, sometimes buggy, open world from a first time AAA publisher in the last decade. Taken as a whole, I think it totally works.

What makes you think I am praising a game based on whos developing/publishing it ? I like single player story driven games - I don't care who they're from since I own all three consoles. Infact, I made a thread a little while back about how much I enjoyed Quantum Break.

And I do consider it "shitting on" when you clearly never had any interest or intention in playing the game, but frequent threads about it.

Yeah the review is well written and doesn't deserve the downplaying it's getting here. I do hope she gets the opportunity to write for a publication that doesn't promote cornball stories, upskirt photography and the general the objectification of women in the very near future.

I had 2 glitches after ~45 hours of playtime so far. One floating dead zombie body and the screen freezing for 1 second while driving with my bike. That's about it. Go and get it. It's a good game and you're gonna enjoy it ;)
