Dude was a stone cold badass renegade psycho. My first Bond, and goddammit I loved him.

The suits really screwed him over, delaying the production of the third film. Brosnan was good, but Dalton was better, closer to watch Fleming imagined.

He had the same problem as Brosnan. He was a great Bond in mostly shitty movies. License to Kill and Goldeneye being the exceptions in my opinion.

Daltons Bond movies were my favorite until Casino Royale. Also he was the best Rassilon and absolutely kills it as Niles Caulder in Doom Patrol. Hes got a way with menace thats for sure.

He was a phenomenal Bond, the closest to the literary character. The Living Daylights is a top 5 Bond film and the aha theme is great too. Also features John Barry's final and best Bond score.

I loved him as the villain in the TV show Chuck. Remember that? I think it would be an awesome idea to bring him back as a villain in a Bond movie.

He's fucking amazing in Hot Fuzz and Penny Dreadful. Bring him back as either a Bond Villain or as an aging 00 agent side character.

This is so true. Really brought a different dimension to the character we wouldn't see until the Craig era.

Though from reading all the behind the scenes stuff I do get the impression he may not have wanted to be Bond all the much.
He rejected the role multiple times over the years and he was quick to move on once it became clear Goldeneye would take a while to get off the ground.

I am glad he is finding better roles now with all the TV shows around.

They should being him back as ancient-ass Punished Bond.

My favorites are Moore and Connery but Dalton might be the best

Grew up with Pierce Brosnan, but Timothy Dalton will always be my Bond. And The Living Daylights is still the best Bond movie.

I mean, that's not even an opinion it's just a fact lol.
EON and MGM went through some major shakeups around licence to kills release and post release and Dalton got thrown under the bus. I recall LTK's advertising budget was throttled and they even changed it's original title of Licence revoked at the very last minute due to feedback from dumbfuck test screeners.
Then there was the legal shit show of the early 90s that just kept delaying his third appearance.

Brosnan is my first Bond and will always be my favorite, but Dalton is my second favorite Bond. After watching Goldeneye (and playing the game) I had my older brother rent a bunch of Bond movies. The Living Daylights was one of my favorites.

Bond is like Saturday Night Live. Whoever you grew up is your fave (obviously not for everybody).

Dalton is still the best Bond. I would have loved to see him in a few more 007 movies.

Dalton was a good Bond but his movies were just average for Bond flicks. Plus 1 of my favorite Bond flicks is Goldeneye so it didn't take long for me to get over Dalton with the new guy. But then everything past Goldeneye was trash for Brosnan's run.

Whaaaat. Living Daylights is way better than License to Kill.

Sean Connery was always my favorite Bond, but I agree Dalton deserved better. He was cold blooded as fuck. Such a breath of fresh air after George Lazenby and Roger "Twinkle in his Eye" Moore.

I never thought he had the acting chops for Bond tbh. Had the look tho. Just everything else kinda wasn't there IMO.

Yeah I think Connery and even Brosnan/Moore had better suits than Dalton. Maybe it was just 80s fashion dragging him down.

Brosnan was my era-appropriate bond and the first I saw, but I definitely preferred Dalton as an actor. Living Daylights is my overall fave, too.

haha caught me red handed! Totally was thinking Lazenby.
Lazenby was a very lucky man. He was selling cars and got lucky enough to land a modelling job in the UK during the free-love era of the 60's, and then somehow managed to bullshit his way into the role of James Bond, despite having no acting credentials.

Living Daylight is amazing and Licence to Kill is pretty good. Goldeneye is amazing but the other three are horrible pieces of cinematic shit, i would say Brosnan had a worse run.

Timothy Dalton is awesome. I'm not a huge fan of The Living Daylights or License to Kill overall, but they each have some wonderful moments like when he strangles that balloon after Saunders is killed.
