Epileptic PSA: There are reports that animations and flashing lights in this game can cause seizures. Read this article for more information

Why is there controversy surrounding CD Projekt Red and Cyberpunk 2077?

CD Projekt Red has a history of transphobia. This is well documented at this point and not a matter of debate. Due to this context there is particular concern about transphobic or insensitive content in Cyberpunk 2077 itself, such as the decision to tie gender to voice in the character creator, and trans fetishization in illustrations in the game—and these are just examples from prerelease footage. Additionally, there have been concerns about racist imagery and stereotyping. This article goes into depth about some of these issues.

What incidents of transphobia have occurred surrounding the game and the company, and why are they hurtful?

This list will be updated over time as more examples come to light, especially as the game releases and more content is uncovered. If you wish to have something added to this list, please send me a DM and get my attention.

Why is ResetEra allowing an official thread for this game?

There has been a lot of discussion about whether there should even be an official thread for Cyberpunk 2077, and many points of view were considered for this decision. Ultimately, a thread like this can serve as a platform for minority concerns to be aired and discussed respectfully, and given appropriate attention. We've also heard from minority members, including some trans members, who have asked for a space where they can talk about the game without needing to worry about trolling and bigoted posting. We expect all posters in the thread to extend the consideration and empathy to give them that space. We will be moderating as strictly as necessary to make sure they do.

What can I do to help fight transphobia?

Transphobia exists in many aspects of our lives. From casual discrimination such as the continuous misuse of a person's preferred pronouns, to more serious ramifications such as housing being denied, legal rights being taken away, and being discriminated in the legal system. Every trans person either has experienced transphobia in their lives, or will experience transphobia at some point.

Moreover, transphobia is a systematic issue that is present in every level of our society. Politicians fight to take away our rights. Celebrities use coded language and religious justifications, if not outright hostility, in order to continue to deny our existence. Media continues to portray us as the butt of a joke, or acts like we're something to be fascinated by, rather than treated with respect.

Actions speak louder than words: Become active in your local politics, donate to transgender causes, stand up for these issues wherever they arise, and if you know transgender people in your life be there for them and support them.

Here are some pro-trans organizations around the world where you can make a donation and show your support
  • For those of you in the US, The Trevor Project is one of the leading LGBT organizations. They are dedicated to crisis intervention and suicide prevention for people who are in need of support, love, and care.
  • For those of you in the UK, Mermaids is dedicated to the support of transgender, non-binary, and gender-diverse children, young adults, and their families. They have been around since 1995, and have been one of the most vocal voices speaking out against transphobia in the UK, including showing the dangers that transphobia imposes upon our youth.
  • If you would like to donate to CDPR's native country of Poland, you can find the Trans-Fuzja Foundation website here. The Trans-Fuzja Foundation has been around since 2008, and is dedicated to the support of transgender people in Poland in many aspects of life and society, including politics.
We are your friends. We are your family members. We're your coworkers. We're the people you meet on the street. We're the essential workers who keep society running in a pandemic. We're everywhere. We're not some sort of freak or joke, and we're not going away.

I want to give major thanks to Uzzy for lending her talent, time, and effort in putting together graphics and material for this official thread. Without her, this would not have been possible on such short notice. I would also like to give a shout out and thanks to Kyuuji for allowing me to use images and links from her own thread for this posts.

Spoiler for one of the endings:

Anybody else notice that?

How can you ship a game with bugs like this, when it's all up in your grill?
I understand physics, or npc fails in combat, but the damn cutscenes? Embarrassing.
Not that it's the only cutscene bug. I must have had at least 3 levitating cigarette bugs too. Plus the constant animation skips when a character changes for one animation to another.

Now that I'm completely done with it I don't really feel like replying the game or reloading for different endings. The game sort of wore me out.
7/10 in it's current state. Whatever outlet gives it a goty award is dead to me.

So when does the first DLC package drop?
From what I've seen, the CDPR DLC website says January.

But we have two big patches this and next month, plus the Next Gen patch eventually. I have a feeling we aren't going to get a HoS-type DLC for a long while.

Even then, I am curious if they will just be developing DLC for next gen. I'd like to see them continue to push things, especially if we are going to the Badlands or other areas of NC.

Yeah, the January/February DLC is more akin to TW3 DLC; that is to say that it will likely release in the same manner as the Witcher 3's first 16 DLC pieces did, like 2 pieces a week. The fully fledged expansions I wouldn't be surprised to not see until Summer or Fall, personally. I'd really really like a next-gen patch asap though, preferably with 4K/30fps and 1440p60fps options, with RT in the mix somewhere too. :P

100% accurate.

Honestly at this point I wish that they would just release the patches for last gen and say "This is the best we can do, once you upgrade to the current gen you will get to play as we always intended" and then go full force and do a "make up tour" and make the game what we know it will be.

I'm waiting on the next gen patch to do playthrough #2 but I can't stop thinking about the game, it is SO GOOD.

Finally crafted the epic version of Overwatch. 35,800 damage crit headshots. 😂

I do 200.000+ damage headshots with my Comrade's Hammer and at least 100.000+ with overwatch on a good crit. You can reload and try for better rolls on these weapons when you craft them, until you get a feeling for how they can turn out. Then stick with a good roll on crit chance, crit damage and headshot bonus. Then deck yourself out in as much crit+ gear (mods) as possible and grab everything related to crits in the perk trees.

Why do people keep saying DLC's? The Jan/Feb patches are just to improve the game and fix bugs etc. especially the last gen versions, they aren't DLCs.

Went to a clothing vendor for the first time and kind of digging this dress I bought (even if it's super impractical for actual combat situations lol). I hope they add an official glamour/transmog system to this game, but I guess for now I'll have to look into how to upgrade armor/clothes, as I'd like to keep using some of these outfits later into the game.

I agree too, yeah. I'd love for next-gen to get more of a focus. I've looked at a lot of PC footage and it already looks phenomenal there.

Mention of DLC comes from CDPR themselves. Note, this is not equivalent to HoS or Blood and Wine. Expansions like those two will come at a much later date, which is what I meant. Hopefully that makes sense. :)

I think with the release of the current gen version and all the issues and bad press they have been receiving...imho I think they are going to take their time to release the Next Gen patch version. They do not want to go through that hell again and if they release a Next Gen Patch version that is also broken and/or having severe performance issues etc. they are just going to get murdered. I think they are going to be really cautious with that Next Gen version and I think it will be a quite a while before we see it.

Ok something I've just noticed on my second playthrough on the hardest setting. Some boss fights have phases. My first build dropped them so quickly that most did not actually get the chance to fight back, now I just completed fighting

Oda at the parade level and did not realise he would get above you and drop a barriage of smart bullets while running around hunting you down

Most of the time it was just pew pew drop, but this time it felt like a drawn out fight.

Am I right or am I right?

Yes, but I need a different gif to accurately capture how surprised one is when they've watched the 2018 gameplay demo a million times, and during the scav den they are expecting the cool little cutscene where you dunk the scav's head in the water and silently blow his brains out.... and instead you DUNK THEIR BODY INTO THE EMPTY DUMPSTER LIKE SHAQ WITH YOUR VOLUME ALL THE WAY UP.

Was there supposed to be some sort of quest with Mama Welles?

I got her phone number, can talk to her but after about 120 hours and an ending, she never really came up.

So, I was roaming around on my Point Of No Return Save and I received a call from Kerry that linked to 5 missions I completely missed and I'm sure I spent at least 1 ingame week since my last mission just by passing the time of the day to do screenshots... He sure takes his time to call back.

There's no quest but if

you send Jackie's body to her you get a wake for Jackie, you get to explore his garage with Misty and you can attempt to reconcile the hostility between Mama Welles and her. Then at the end Mama Welles gives you the keys for Jackie's bike and you get to drive it out of the garage. She's pretty much a concerned figure at that point, not much else to her. You do get a quest from Pepe the bar tender if you go back though.

Without the wake, she's a big nothing burger of a character. It's the one thing she's actually involved in.

It's basically a wake for jackie. It's a really nice quiet mission that plays to the games strengths of giving these really nice character moments.

You can hit that early on with the right pistol. With cold blooded and stealth perks that give +25% To silenced, +50% headshot, +50% out of combat crits, on top of revolvers with 4x headshot multiplier, you can become a god early on if playing quiet.

Balance is not this games strengths but the power fantasy aspect of it is still satisfying.

Well just completed the game (including all side jobs I came across, with the exception of the tarot card and cyber psychosis ones). I got the temperance ending. Overall liked the game. I didn't have any game breaking bugs or crashes, however the bugs definitely ruined some key moments.

That "Dirty Biz" Side Op made me feel pretty uncomfortable..

I ended up killing the son after reading through their computer because I'm role-playing as a generally apathetic/slightly evil character and wanted the father to feel horrible for what he did. But I didn't expect the father to react so tragically (I guess since I'm conditioned by the game to believe side characters are not really responsive or realistic) and I actually felt really bad afterwards so I ended up killing the father too to sort of "spare him the suffering". The surprisingly good voice acting from the father, alongisde the general tone of that side op being all sorts of fucked up kinda fucked me up

All in all it left me feeling pretty raw and I guess that's a good thing? I do think games should make you feel things..

I just surprisingly reached the point of no return.

My 3 % things are:
Edgerunner - 90%
You only live once - 60%
Down to the wire - 40%

Am I missing considerable stuff here that will effect the ending?

Riders of the Storm - Panam and V alone as the storm rages overnight.
Ghost Town - Bar Scene with Panam
Pyramid Song - Judy scubadiving (guess this is more of a mission, but whatever)

I know you said favourite scene, but there's a lot I can think of to the top of my head lol
I got a few (can't pick one lol)
- The opening of the parade mission
- The reunion gig with Samurai
- The cloud conversation like you mentioned
- Chillin on a yacht while Kerry plays his guitar
- Escaping through the sandstorm with Panam and Saul
- Discovering the secret room in Dream On

Also fair stuff.

Hanging with Kerry on the Yacht was a nicely serene moment. ^^'

Surprised there's not as much love for the prologue, though. Some of the highest highs are actually chucked in there.

You only live once needs to be at 70% for the "secret" ending and it's tied to the answers you give in one quest.
One of the endings depends on your choices during Panam's questline.
You should be able to test the 5 other endings independently of what you did during the game, the % don't matter, you'll get phone calls during the credits from people you met/saved during the big side quests.

The mission "Chippin' in" the talk with Johnny on his grave you have to take specific answers, I didn't get that ending, I read about it after, and Panam hates my V so I don't have the Aldecaldos ending either. :P
Too much StreetKid RP, next time I'll play a male nomad fan of Silverhand that'll romance Panam. :p

As someone who's played through a few different outcomes already, I wasn't aware of

this secret ending supposedly having to do with Silverhand. Not sure if I want to know which specific conversation this is tied to quite just yet, but is it Johnny you're talking to, Alt, or someone else? (If it is someone else, I'll just try to figure that out for myself. Or at least, until I cave in. And just open up your above spoiler in the next 10 minutes. Time'll tell. :-P)

EDIT:

So this 'secret' ending isn't

New Dawn Fades

right? Because that one I did have access to.

Yes it's a conversation with Silverhand in one of "his" side missions that leads to the "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" endings.

I started another playthrough and combat is so unbalanced even fairly early on. Doing a brawler build and you can get legendary armor cyberware early, then if you are grinding street cred for Gorilla Arms just go a bit further and get the legendary HP bonus and stamina bonus augments too, get to 20 Body, get all of the +HP/armor/damage taken perks in that tree. I could kill groups of level 28-30 enemies starting around level 16 by walking them down and punching them into dust. Started going down Cool path and I don't know if this is working as intended but blunt weapons do give stacks of Cold Blood, you might have to land that additional hit to kill them but that's easy enough.

Bummer about brawler build is that the finishing move Gorilla Arms animation is fucking awful. It has no weight at all. And even with the full-on Bulletproof Monk perks the Beat the Brat quests just suck. The combat system isn't tight enough to pull them off, the enemies are extreme HP sponges, hitboxes are nonsense, and the tracking on their moves is so stupid. I beat them but it was annoying.

Oh wow I found legendary mantis blades on the ground by doing one of the blue markers. Idk if I should stop punching people now and switch to blades

Level 16 and still no points spent..

I'm level 34 and if it weren't for the legendary OS slot thing that grants me slow mo, I probably wouldn't have used a lot of it lol. I still can't decide what to use it on.

I think I know what I want. But then I try looking at the perks and points and glaze over. But I know I'm also hindering progress by not spending points. My starting attributes are basically maxed at 4-5 now.

I like stealth. But often get into shoot outs. The mono wire looks cool, but that's oddly body beneficial.

Its all about the Sandevistan. Once you've got epic or legendary arms with a black market battery and the Epic or legendary Sandevistan mods the whole game turns into basically a "How many toddlers can you fight at once?" simulation. It's pretty great to strut up to someone, pop the slomo and give em that quick straight jab - already dead and starting to fall backwards in the air - and then before the fool hits the floor you sprint to all his friends and do the same thing. 90% of my encounters are done before most of the people even know i'm there. Ive shattered the skulls of more people in the process of standing up than i ever imagined...

beat the brat tips for the final fight: Previous advice excluded - Razor's 3 hit combo is a complete and utter shitfest that almost killed me maxed out on armor and 20 body while guarding. You wanna bait out his little charged superman punch he tries, dodge for the slo-mo and throw nothing but heavy shots. You can feed two into him at least before he does a dodge at which time you should dodge backwards and park on the opposite side of the ring as him. Just stay there and wait for the superman. Double tapping heavy punches whenever you use the Sandevistan is also the way to go. With all my shit geared towards hurting people I was able to burn just about half his life down in the beginning of the fight with slomo chained punches to his guts. One will hit him for huge damage and he will grab his stomach and bend forward. Feed the top of his skull a heavy shot and he recoils back hard and arches his back so you can feed another punch into the guts. Rinse repeat.

That's for anyone else having as much fucking trouble with that fight as I did the first couple of times. Fuckin garbage. Ozob was a much funner fight. I hope he shows up again as another gig or something.

It does really piss me off that even with the legendary knuckles the hand to hand dmg doesn't scale. Like ... the fact that compared to someone just crafting a Katana with almost 2k dmg is so wildly effective compared to my hands is exactly what I was worried about before the release of the game. Nevermind the occasional dumb jank when i'm trying to punch and he just pump fakes and stands there wasting time. Or when i try to activate my skills and they don't work for whatever reason. Or I try to dodge and it fights me on it so I smash the button cause i'm in a fight and i need to fuckin slo things down now pretty please and instead i'm crouching in the middle of a fight. Uuuhhgg. I just wanted some Ghost in the Shell level "yah guns are great but if homeboy gets close to you he can just pull your skull apart" kind of scary body mod shit. I want to be fucking Adam Smasher.

oh well.
