The German article says that you can walk up to and "access" the Subway, but it does not show you travelling with it, it's another way to activate the fast travel.
Does this mean we can still go down there and do stuff? I mean like driving down the rails with a car and so on.

I dobt mind them scraping walking around in the train itself but scraping the whole area/subway infrastructure would take away a whole layer of verticality I guess.

Background (nomad / street kid / corpo) isn't class that you pick for the V, it's V's background until that point

Sure it affects V's perception of the world and attitude V has about... well, everything, but it doesn't inherently make playthrough "good" or "bad". Also doesn't limit your choice on who you work with or not, who you betray or not etc.

TL:DR: Picking corpo rat as V's background doesn't make you work with corporations

But you do initially work for a big ugly corporation? I'm just trying to understand V's motivation for doing so if that's the path you want to choose.

-edit-

Btw, what happened to techie, solo etc? They got rid of those?

The techie skills are still there, they're just not specific to some kind of limited techie skill tree anymore, apparently. Hackers and solos can do tech stuff now.

Yeah, it's a real shame - it makes all of the hype that we conjured in our minds of riding the Subway in Night City based on this concept/production art meaningless:

Corpo Rat V does start the game as working for Arasaka, yes.
During that first bit of the game you get asked to do the job for your boss, illegal. As you could expect it goes to shit, you get betrayed and thrown out of Arasaka life. It's when V starts to live merc life with help from Jackie.

Techie and Solo were never background choices for the V, but they are "class" designations depending on which way your skill, talent etc. picks leans. Designation can change fluently as you keep speccing.

The techie skills are still there, they're just not specific to some kind of limited techie skill tree anymore, apparently. Hackers and solos can do tech stuff now.

Solos could always hack or hackers do tech shit, it never was hard limited system like that. It's just about where you lean to most.

I literally played Sleeping Dogs for like 2 hour just because of this... Its why I never understand ppl saying GTA's cars handling and controls are bad... if you want BAD car handling/controls play Sleeping Dogs... Every car in GTA feels different and unique to the car! With this and all the cut content.. its a wait and see for me.. I really just do myself a favor and wait 6 months for them to patch the hell out of it like TW3 and not be a paid beta tester... And YES I know this game isnt GTA but for fucks sake.. CDPR can do better than SLEEPING DOGS...

Some who played it did like it. Also there was mentions that when they talked with devs about the driving their response was that driving is till worked and tweaked, being aware that it's bit light and touchy in build press played.

So there is still hope.

If one is to willing embrace hope in 2020.

That is concerning to me too. They picked the open-world games with the absolute worst driving mechanics to compare Cyberpunk with.

Apparently the driving model wasn't final, and they're trying to make it more like Forza Horizon 4.

Yeah that one was weird since... they hired specialists in arcade racing (i think i remember former people who worked on burnout titles but i may be wrong there, sometimes my memory is a mess... and it's impossible to find back since when you search burnout and cp2077 it returns crunch work conditions answers).

That's why i thought at one time it was because the game was calibrated for racing wheels for vehicles.

Huh, Sleeping Dogs, a game from 2012 and a previous generation, is the poster child for bad driving in an open world? Off the top of my head, the Saints Row games and Wildlands are much worse and more recent offenders. Cruising around Hong Kong on a motor cycle was dope.

As always, pretty much any new open world game that is announced with vehicles I always know will have crappy driving physics and I feel let down instantly.

regardless how good the story or other parts of the gameplay is, like watchdogs, saints row or
Sleeping dogs, I can't help but always feel let down when driving, which is the only way to travel.
Even GTA v was slightly disappointing as it dumbed down the handling model and weight so much.

From the footage, I can tell car physics in 2077 are overlooked and just quickly and cheaply added in to make cars go left, right, back and forward...

No weight, instant turning, lots of acceleration noises yet cars are slow, looks twitchy, poor damage models, no weight...

I know I have not played the game and I can't be sure, but I had the exact same issues with similar other games and they turned out as bad as expected.
I am hopeful they will take the criticism on board,

plus I heard about someone mentioning they have physics similar to horizon in a new build or something.. still hope for us who love to drive.

probably why I rate GTA IV, mafia 2, Forza horizon so highly, had so much fun just driving around.

I am glad it's not an issue for some people and I know some, probably most, prefer cheap and easy physics but to me it's a big markdown, since it's the main form of transportation in game.

The driving in the gameplay bit where the car hits the divider looks wonky as fuck. I totally expect the driving physics to be mediocre at best.

Come on, the driving in Watch Dogs 2 was fun, arcadey in a good way. Nothing ground breaking, just completely functional.

Well in my case SD is the only open-world "GTA like" game that I finished from start to finish and I didn't had any major problems with the driving, so that info isn't something that I should have concern with.. I mean, many people have problems with the driving in Mafia games and I on the other hand, really like to drive around in Mafia 1 and 2.. so let's see how "bad" or "good" the driving in Cyberpunk is going to be when we get our hands to play it

so has the gore been toned down for the trailers or is there really none of it in the game? i watched the 20 minute gameplay video, and the shootout at the warehouse or whatever had pretty much no blood or damage on the enemies, and even the bit where v cuts someone's head off just had a brief red cloud. looks way to clean for my liking.

gameplay in general looks pretty weak as well.
Yeah, the blood and gore needs to be cranked-up for sure. That beheading in the new gameplay should leave blood stains on the walls and floor and not look so toy-like. That goes for dismemberments in general from what we've been shown.
Have we heard anything about the mobile game CDP is working on?
SPOKKO's game? Nothing yet.
Anyone speaking a single ill word against Sleeping Dogs is going well and truly up the top of my shit list.
Agreed. I love Sleeping Dogs🤘
Just asking, can you still take the train or subway?
Was a fully working subway actually confirmed or are people just going by the 2018 e3 trailer?
Subway riding [where you can see your character on it] is out and clinging to a wall with Mantis Blades seems to be as well:

To summarize [and translate] Fabian is saying "yes" when asked if riding in the Subway was taken out and then when asked if we can still do wall running and perch on the walls with the Mantis Blades; he says he doesn't think so - but he hasn't seen everything you can do yet. At the very end he says that we shouldn't worry because when things are taken out; other better things are put in their place - also that despite the 4 hours of play by the media, they haven't shown much yet and they still have big plans coming👍

Didn't CDPR just say that wall hanging is still in, just wall running is out. Fabian doesn't seem to be sure so I guess hanging is in, there still seem to be some cool movement options, so that's fine for me.

The french web site I followed, the preview guy said it is even worst than Watch_Dogs. You goes from top speed to reverse in second.
He compares it to controlling a RC car.
Also on the same page about the shooting.
Fist combat is the worst of the 3 but not really mandatory it seems.

I was a bit underwhelmed by the gameplay and the voice syncing and acting. It sounded like it was all recorded in a bedroom or living room.

I'm not planning on playing the game anyway until there's an optimized version for the PS5 or Xbox One Series X so I'll wait till then.

The gameplay seemed rough as well. The hand-to-hand fighting seemed really rudimentary and the shooting doesn't seem to have much punch at all.

What was wrong with the writing too? It was really... goofy? Almost GTA esque but without the cleverness and quirky characters.

To be fair they only got to play the prologue. I'm sure the game ramps up during the main quests.

Haven't never been the case with CDPR games, or well huge majority of RPGs in general.

They all start (very) difficult when you pick high difficulty level, but get boring easy towards the end as you get so insanely powerful.

In TW 3 there is some very hard fights in White Orchard alone on Death March because you are so weak, but enemies are so strong.

I wouldn't worry too much about the car handling. They specifically said they were aware of the sensitivity issues and were debating it internally.
Besides, this game doesn't really seem like one where you'll be spending much time in the car. I certainly won't be. Not when there's so much to see and interact with.

Subway riding [where you can see your character on it] is out and clinging to a wall with Mantis Blades seems to be as well:

I don't see how they could make something better than climbing and perching walls with the blades. That's part of what made being a hacker actually viable. If they take it out then it starts to become a more generic sci-fi shooter in terms of mechanics.

Cyberpunk 2077 Corrections and Clarifications Q&A

It's been a week since Night City Wire and my hands on impressions from Cyberpunk 2077. Lets do a Q&A to make some corrections to statements I've made and to...

For example he killed a cop killer, and stole his sniper riffle. The sniper riffle ammo traverses all the walls. Very powerful weapon.

Cop? He 100% sure about that?

Alanah got that weapon from "cyberpsycho" she helped to hunt down and kill.
