I say delay it until next gen versions are ready. Clearly PS4/xb1 versions will be severely lacking no matter how many delays in

Nah, they'll get bonuses.

Everyone else gets a pizza party.

You just reminded me of when I worked in tech support, an update caused huge mess up that increased calls into us by like thousands of percent our normal, we were working like mad scrambling to take the calls. The sr manager kept sending us emails about how we were doing good work and thanking us for us putting up with this and saying that the company was going to compensate us with some food after this all got better. When it was all said and done, and they let us pick what kind of food we wanted, he came back saying that it was too costly and we never did get anything in return.

Fuck I hated that place

From a selfish point of view I'm fine with this. Gives me more time digging into AC Valhalla and a few other games.

But on another note, what the hell is going on at CDPR. The game has gone gold but is being delayed a few more weeks?

whose denying anything? Why do his tweets always come off as so combative? Game development is tough and unionization is essential, everyone knows this.
I would imagine he's addressing the massive amount of hate and criticism he got for daring to report on the crunch in the first place. I mean just look at the twitter responses to his earlier tweets

I wouldn't at all be surprised to hear that it has severe issues on the original platforms. PS4 and X1S had mid-tier PC specs even in 2013. Try to now make a game that looks amazing in 2020 while still supporting these old consoles, it's honestly incredibly difficult. I wouldn't at all be surprised if Cyberpunk drops into the teens on both those platforms regularly.

You say that like someone who recently had the same issues with their own game on the OG consoles *cough*, lol. :D

I never understood how they possibly planned to get the world we saw in that gameplay demo 2-3 years ago to work on the original consoles, and was actually concerned when they confirmed it was a current-gen game.

Is this the first documented case of a game that went gold and THEN got delayed again? Man alive.

I'm sure the end product will be great, but I think CDPR also need to reckon with their working conditions after this ships. They can't keep grinding their devs into dust like that.

At this point, any release date they give us feels exactly like the meaning of "The Boy Who Cried Wolf.

I wonder how bad their stock price is tanking right now?

i just dont get why they kept putting out release dates they cant stick to. Halo infinite is frustrating, but not giving it a new public date is the smart move, because it means they can avoid this whole song and dance if they cant hit their new internal date. The public doesnt need to know.

i guess you didn't see the last cyberpunk crunch drama

I mean it's a single player game. So you could start it whenever you feel like. A delay just hurts.

as some have mentioned, it seems they probably get a preliminary "gold" with the promise that their patches would be approved but they weren't.

I just wish they would stop giving release dates, until the discs are burned.

Perhaps they wanted to avoid it launching on the same day as the PS5 in the tier 2 counties . Mind share is going to be reduced.

Granted, I'm really looking forward to the game and am trying to build a new PC for it, but this game is just going to be a massive trash fire at launch isn't it? I feel bad for the people who will be playing this on current gen consoles.

"Passing certification, or 'going gold', means the game is ready, can be completed, and has all content in it."

lol, someone over there is a bit confused; they just described what it means to be alpha.

This game was announced 8 1/2 years ago.
Potentially a LOT. You can really only work efficiently on optimizations if the game is mostly done, otherwise it's a moving target. Been there, done that. I'm pretty sure they're still polishing up content and usually you have artists / designers do some crazy shit that'll make the perf go bananas and then Tech / QA needs to find out why there are regressions and fix that stuff. Testing this game must be a nightmare (especially considering they're shipping on 9 platforms (and yes, it's 9 platforms now, the mid-gen refresh certainly didn't make developers lives easier), so I'm not surprised they're struggling over there.

I'd say be kind and try to think of what the folks at CDPR must be going through right now. It's insanely hard to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel and then hear yet again that they're not gonna hit that target. Snark and cynicism is the last thing you wanna read about your work when you're in these dire straits - every dev has been there and the best thing gamers can do is to at least find some encouraging words. Shipping is hard, really, really hard, especially if you're a talented team trying to do something amazing.

I remember not being able to play a stable Witcher 2 for months, so I guess I'm glad they're actually taking the QA seriously. It really has to suck to be the developers right now.

Fuck this. I wish I could cancel my pre order but I purchased the limited edition console and got the game as a pack in.

Any excitment I had is gone.

This means more crunch, right up to the holidays.

I hope the employees get some fat bonuses this year.
I very much doubt it lol, remember when they tried to pass off the bonus they would get due to them crunching so hard but it turned out to be the normal amount they would have gotten anyway lol?

So GOTY=sales? Animal Crossing isn't even a very good game IMO. It's an ENDLESS, tedious grind with charming dialogue. But there are better actual games even in its genre.
That's just your opinion. I could say the same about Trauma Porn Part 2. The reality is that all of them are critically acclaimed and beloved games, just AC had a bigger impact in pop culture.

Hey CDPR, how about a delay to early 2021so you can give your devs 1-2 weeks of time off during the Holidays, as we all know the 2 weeks+ after release for this kind of AAA ow game are more crunch to quash bugs/ implement features that didn't make it?

No?
Yeah, who am I kidding.

I feel so sorry for the devs...

I feel like it's going to be pretty polished.

Lol!

Why am I not surprised?

Also, crunch is bullshit. Always has been, always will be. Studios need to stop overworking their employees. Period. It's never worth it in the end, and the toll it takes on the team has long term ramifications that don't just vanish once the project is finished.

This delay is disappointing, but I'm more annoyed that the team has been forced to crunch with the excuse being that they were working hard to go gold and finish the game, but in the end, it's just some bullshit. I'd rather have them delay the game for as long as it takes if it means the team gets to have a health work life balance. And this is one of my most anticipated 2020 titles. There's plenty to play while I wait for the game to finally release.

Do right by your fucking employees first, CD Projekt.

Wow, the game must be a complete mess if they decide to delay it again. And the sad part is I don't even care anymore, I just feel sorry for the people working there.
