It's only XEM that's been stolen and this exchange wasn't signed up with the financial regulator, which they say they will do now....I bet!

Doesn't seem like the effect should be too bad (except for XEM) but who know's with Crypto.

Their exchange is allegedly showing $100m+ XRP being moved out too. They haven't officially confirmed that part yet.

I personally have high hopes for VEN, at least hold on to it until after the rebrand of end of february.

I sold half of my holdings when it hit the $8 high. I regretted it for a time, but I'm happy with my decision. I successfully withdrew out my initial investment and made a nice profit with some leftover in case it reaches another high.

I'm eagerly awaiting the re-brand and hoping that drives the price even more.

Sorry - I'm asking really stupid noob questions. First time sending ETH and never had these questions when using LTC or BTC. Don't think the ICO thing applies to me but the fact that Binance doesn't accept smart contracts means I can't send my ETH straight there anyway and need to use a private wallet inbetween apparently. Sending LTC to Cryptopia didn't have these complications so just figuring my way round this process

I have sent ETH to Binance and used it to buy alts on there. I went from coinbase to Binance and then picked up some XLM/XVG/XRP etc...

Could you expand on the smart contracts thing because I haven't had any issues transferring and buying but this is small amount less than 300$

Seems to be a Bitstamp only thing. Googling about smart contracts only seems to return results for them. I guess other sites don't use that method?

Really don't like to draw definitive conclusions from short time frames, but there's definite bearish divergence showing on ETH and BTC. Would indicate a short move down. We'll see.

Last night was a great time to buy VeChain.

From last night on the discord I think we're on track:

Of all potential variables I think everything will come to a head tonight (Thursday), if it's just a typical January trend/correction this weekend it could begin to stabilize, if it's people afraid of futures they think it expires tomorrow, if btc is actually being suppressed because of futures it has already corrected to within that range, we don't talk about the other thing (Ethertay)

I expect Asia to dump further tonight (Thursday) and then east coast to start pumping in the morning and maybe a good weekend starting tomorrow (Friday) night

I'm hoping for a weekend pamp starting tonight.

BTC 1HR. Support moving up, resistance moving down. Something has to break soon. Purple line is 1HR 200EMA, which has pretty much been resistance since $15K.

Interesting detail you can read on reddit about the Adress where all the stolen XEM coins got transferred to:
It is very easy to track. A mosaic has been sent to the hackers addresses, marking them as tainted funds:

http://explorer.ournem.com/#/s_account?account=NC4C6PSUW5CLTDT5SXAGJDQJGZNESKFK5MCN77OG

Since there is no mixing service for NEM, it will be pretty easy to follow these funds.

https://www.reddit.com/r/nem/commen..._the_tether/dta152a?utm_source=reddit-android

Take a look at the explorer, you will see a mosaic attached to the hackers address.
http://explorer.ournem.com/#/s_account?account=NC4C6PSUW5CLTDT5SXAGJDQJGZNESKFK5MCN77OG

mizunashi.coincheck_stolen_funds_do_not_accept_trades:owner_of_this_account_is_hacker

Here is info about namespaces and mosaics:
https://docs.nem.io/en/gen-info/namespaces

  • Also note that this particular mosaic has been setup so that it is not transferable, it will always be linked to the hackers address.

Could the person change at least parts of the funds through sites like EtherDelta into other coins and then use other services to "launder" the coins?

Grr. Cryptopia seems to have busted withdraws. ETH better not crash while the last of my holdings are stuck in processing trying to get it to gdax.

I'm very slightly leaning in favour of that support breaking, but I'm prepared either way. I think the market could use a better v-shaped bounce to re-invigorate itself.

One thing I did notice is there hasn't been a 1D candle close below $10.7K during this entire downtrend. Every time it drops below there, it seems some whales or tether bullshit pushes it back above this point, which is why I have a put a line there. Price movement basically looks like accumulation or distribution between $10.7K and $11.9K for over a week now. We'll find out which one soon.

Another thing to watch for, which Twitter has turned me on to, is the 1W StochRSI on BTC is getting close to crossing up again. Consensus seems to be that once that cross is confirmed, it may be a good place to buy back in. I think there will be a sub-10k dip before that cross happens however, but that's just a feeling. It might not dip first.

Are any of those cheap new coins on Cryptopia worth a damn? Any thoughts on Ox? May buy some of that but I dont really know wtf it is.

If you're putting money into cheap coins on Cryptopia (I do as well. FLASH, XBY, ADC), those need to be longer term holds. They aren't going to get much movement at all during a bear market other than the occasional 1x jump by some news that propels it temporarily. However, during the bull market earlier this month, they were giving 3x-4x returns if you got in at the right time. Just have to be patient with them until there's positive buzz around Crypto again. Maybe with people getting tax returns soon, and Wall Street bonuses, we may be able to see the market cap rise again which in turn helps everything grow, and at that point, these small coins are able to give 3x-4x returns quicker than higher market coins.

Yeah looked at them and it looks like a bunch of garbage coins/coins that were traded with LTC/DOGE before Cryptopia shut those down.

One of the biggest crypto use cases is going to be electronic cash. There's really only going to be one winner for day to day use. Who do you think it will be - litecoin, bitcoin cash, raiblocks, stellar, or bitcoin itself? Maybe something else?

One that laypeople would never realize is working in the background.

Well it won't be ltc or btc if crypto is going anywhere since theyre both way too slow. I think bitcoin cash sucks in comparison to XRB as well so not that either.

XRB will hopefully be the next big trading pair at least.

Is there enough data apart from the 2 days to indicate something fishy fishy? Also, what does the 7PM high closing indicate if you don't mind me asking? I guess it's to keep BTC at a certain level, but why, to what purpose?

Finally, how are you taking the WSJ bullish article? Any substance to it?

I mentioned in a prior post how Bitcoin's candlesticks are manipulated near the end of certain timeframes, to make the charts look better. My post was about 1H candles. Here, the manipulators are deliberately pumping BTC at the last second before the 1D close, to create a better looking 1D candle which will stay on the charts like that forever to be used in traders' TA.

It's nice that more futures traders believe BTC will close higher than $11k, but I don't like to read a lot into futures positions. I don't think there is enough volume there to make a big impact, other than perhaps psychological. The futures contracts also don't interact directly with BTC, so it's kind of like betting on horse races. I'll stick with the charts.

Interesting, thanks Brandson.

For you TA readers it must be a pain to remove/dismiss these candles out of your calculations, or consider their true meaning.

A porn version of the BAT coin would do a lot of good for the industry, especially amateur stuff. Wonder if theres anything like that out there

Just gonna take this time to again, repeat, get your coins off of the exchanges. Like 95% of coins are ERC20 which you can house in a free, secure Myetherwallet.com wallet.

It's a million times better than letting your coins rest on Bittrex, GDAX, Binance or any other exchange; This especially goes out to those weary of Tether exploding and taking exchanges with it. Get your coins on MyEtherwallet or a Ledger (Ledgers will cost you money but using official coin wallets + MEW is free). Takes you less than 30 minutes and you can send all ERC20 tokens to the same Myetherwallet address and it sorts them all for you.

No hard work, complete safety, takes less than 30m to move all your coins. Free option via MEW and a $ option in Ledger/Trezor hardware wallets. Please get your coins off of the exchanges until you can get a hardware wallet.

Not my instructional video, just a link to a good guide, and a raw Google link to look up Ledgers and Trezors. No referral links or any shit like that. Just saying. This tether thing could go either way, lets not lose any money.

If you were probably going to prison for 5 years and wanted to dump your money into a/a handful of coins before you're arrested, which would you choose?

Almost everyone here loves VEN. Its solid as hell and ton of partnerships not only with huge multi-national companys but with the Chinese Goverment aswell.
NEO is another safe one. A ton of upcoming ICOs are using it. Seems it will be a rival to ETH whose marketcap is 10x of NEO.
ICX seems solid aswell. South Korea loves Crypto. The Crypto market trading is many times higher than the stock market there and ICX is their crown jewel.
Since your locking in for 5 years ADA maybe good. Its still early for these guys but in 5 years it maybe ontop. Designed to be a Gen 3.0 Crypto it is aiming to fix alot of faults of the current bigboys BTC and ETH.

Then if you want to take flyer on a smaller coin with potential. People here like ADC and PO.ET

XLM has been having a pretty good time recently and I didn't even notice.
