Hello, I'm a Bronze Age mod and I'm already in the Workshop.

Not really familiar with the game, and it's hard to find info about Multiplayer. Is it a fully fledged multiplayer where you essentially can play the full game with up to 64 other players on the same map?

Yes. In Paradox games, the only practical difference between single and multiplaye, is how many people is playing at once in the same game.

Still massively overwhelmed but the resume game from the first desktop menu has made me realise what a click fest it is to get back into a Civ game. very nice feature.

I've been toying with the tutorial, and I'm quite impressed with it. It doesn't seem a Paradox tutorial, quite useful and well made.

It's still a fuckton of information to absorb for any new player tho, but that was inevitable.

Yeah, as somebody with ~90 hours in CK2 I needed a refresher and it seems to be great for that.

Been playing around with the tutorial for an hour. Never played one of these games before and I'm totally overwhelmed. I like it, but it's going to take me a while to figure out what is going on.

I was just browsing the Workshop and saw this.

Man, it looks incredible.

How'd you pull it together so fast?

Congrats.
Normally key modders from other Paradox games get early access to their games / new big updates so they can port the game quickly. For instance Kaisserreich.

My suggestion is to make sure you understand the most basic things (how to browse the menus, how war works, how to get married if you're unmarried), and then just dive in. You will make a billion mistakes, but will slowly learn more and more of the game systems, and it is pretty hard to get an actual game over. After a couple hours, you'll have learned a ton, and can restart with much more confidence.

Finished the tutorial part of the turorial.... I guess.....and of course I'm lost. :D

Married for 2 minutes and my wife is already cheating on me.

Looks like a fun game though. Overwhelming at first, but I do feel I have a good grasp what most thing do after the tutorial. Just need to connect the dots.

Gonna jump in proper once the weekend starts.

Thanks, good advice. I'll get some hours in tomorrow and hopefully it'll click. I'm starting work again on Thursday after a long break - the worst time for this game to come out for me!

so in this game, how granular can I forge my society? Can I create a socialist utopia that has zero taboo on sex, that has no racism, minimum wages and stuff?

Well, minimum wage is a capitalist concept and wouldn't be a thing in feudal society so yes, there's no minimum wage.

But...you can create a religion that accepts polygamy, equality when it comes to gender, same-sex relations, a female warrior clergy with a female pope that won't criminalize deviancy or female & male adultery but it's better to create said religion when you're in a strong position because those Catholic bastards will call a crusade on you pretty fast if you're some just measly count.

Welp, time to murder your first wife if you can't divorce her.

Also you gotta murder all the children that she made with you. Can't be sure that they're your real children after all. You must keep the true bloodline secure.

Biggest issue I have so far from my first couple of hours playing is not being able to control what messages I get. I didn't learn I had a grandson until I clicked on my son's profile and saw he had a kid now. We definitely need CK2 levels of message log control for things like that.

Edit: Holy shit, 97,000 concurrent users on Steam right now. For non peak hours and being Day 1 gamepass that's insane.

Lol, I just noticed that when you start your game back up it updates the main menu with full character models of your immediate family (last save).

Got married in my last session, later fired the game back up and there she was standing next to me and my elder son in the menu screen.

Man, that detail.

I'm impressed to see someone has already posted a Sunset Invasion mod over on the Paradox forums. This fanbase is the best.

lol welp. Got a hook on a neighboring ruler, he came to me asking if he spilled a secret on my bishop, I'd drop my hook on him. Couldn't do anything with his hook so I said sure. CANNIBAL SECRET DISCOVERED.

Oh.

Playing as the Emir of Toledo, I sent my spy master to find secrets in Leon. Discovered that the king was boning his sister, and I felt really terrible for his poor wife. So naturally a schemed to romance her and now she's my soulmate. Too bad we can't elope because of stupid religion 😭

I like how you can create new variations of your religion, but those prestige costs means this is a multi-generational endeavour.

Did the tutorial, slowly trying to figure out how this game works. I guess it's not so easy to just make my son a vassal, since one of my vassals who hates my guts can't just be fired or killed.

I love how transparent stuff like schemes are now in terms of the information presented. It's actually clear what's going on rather than being some vague mechanic that might happen eventually. Same with secrets and everything around that.

Is marriage the only way to gain allies?

Annnd two times in a row my ally has tried to bring me to war with another faction and the prompt just vanished before I chose an option.

I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed by the game. I was done with the tutorial section of the tutorial and tried to get control of the entire island but i'm just getting swamped with issues and options and the need to look for spouses and who knows what else. I'm thinking of starting a fresh game and taking it slow.

This seems like a lot of fun! I'm not sure I'll have time for it.. do you think this is best played in longer sessions or maybe you can do like an hour here and there? How slow is it?

How does multiplayer work? Can you have a long game going for months and just play an hour here and there?

While this is a game that you can easily lose entire days to if you aren't careful, it works well in smaller sessions as well. I'd often do hour to hour and a half sessions of CK2 before bed.

You can change the game speed at any time to customize how fast time is passing (and thus how fast or slow the game is in terms of things happening/for you to do).

Seems like you can't just sit on unformed Duchies to exploit Gavelkind, they get automatically formed upon succession and handed to your other kids. Though maybe I've misunderstood what happened there.

Finally home to download the game. Thankfully it's not a big install. Have a 4 day weekend coming up so I think I'l get to play more then but I'm excited to start digging in.

Lol in theory that sounds great but then you're looking at the clock 4 hours later wondering what happened...

Is there really no way to move around on the dynasty tree? All the normal means of scrolling dont work.

A very clever move from both Paradox & Microsoft as it's a sort of game if you enjoy you are better off using Steam for mods and DLC. But it also a major bonus to attract people to Game Pass .Being on GamePass hasn't effected sales figures it will increase them in the long term.

Maaaaaaaaan I love this game.

Went through this whole multi-part event with a serial killer stalking my castle. Turns out, it was my first son! He fled my court and I denounced him. I can't wait to see what happens when I finally croak and he presumably shows up asking for the primary title.

Oh yeah. This being on gamepass is absolutely going to be the push I needed to get into the series and it seems super likely I'm buying DLC at some point now that I don't have to invest $60 up front to try it.

Very exciting and also makes me value my GP subscription.

Goddamn, why did this have to come out the same week as Wasteland 3? I can't do 2 meaty PC games at once.
