In December 2018, Coyote Peterson stopped making videos where he intentionally gets stung by insects with incredibly powerful stings. His final sting was the mighty Executioner Wasp, to which he bent the knee in unspeakable pain and declared it the King of Sting. He said that he would make no more sting videos.

Now is 2020 and there was a press hysteria about Japanese Giant Hornets invading United States of America (FYI, Coyote has made a sting video with it. It was up there among the worst stings). Thing is, Cicada Killers, a native large species of wasp that specialized in killing... uh... cicadas, has emerged for its hunting season. Since this is a huge and intimidating wasp, its very easy for the uninformed to confuse it with the Giant Hornet. So Coyote caught one while doing a conservation video for Alligator Gar and decided it would be a good opportunity to show that a Cicada Killer is nothing like the Japanese Giant Hornet and relatively benign. He decided to come out of his "sting retirement" and get stung on this special occasion to show that this insect's sting is no big deal. He explained this in his announcement video:

So he got stung

Shit was weak. He said it isn't even as bad as a honeybee.

Bonus:

If you want to see a real badass stinger, see this video of Coyote getting Yamcha'd by the Executioner Wasp

I made a thread here about these things last summer as they moved in under my porch. I wound up leaving them be, so they were back again this year. They are giant mother fuckers, but they just totally leave you alone.

The most annoying thing about them is that while they were at peak activity at the start of summer, they kept flying into our windows. They are big enough that you would just regularly hear the thud of one smacking the glass. But, they were also only around for a month or two and then seemed to vanish until next year.

We have a lot of digger wasps and these around me. They are big and scary looking but they want nothing to do with you and won't bother you. I still kill them though to keep them from digging up my yard.

I think there was a short period where he did actually, at least on Youtube. Mario took over the channel for a bit.

It might've been when Coyote was working on his Animal Channel show.

Edit: ...or maybe not? I'm scrolling through Brave Wilderness and it looks like Coyote has always been the host. Why the hell do I vividly remember multiple uploads where Mario was the one in front of the camera?

I don't know why he doesn't let someone else administer the sting. It's a miracle that this the first time the insect got away afterwards

That's actually really cool, the idea of showing what stings do and which are worth worrying about and which aren't and if it does protect these bugs all the better.

I had a group of 7 or 8 that made a burrow at a utility box in the corner of my yard. I never went from being more terrified to apathetic towards an insect so fast before. Once I learned what they were I let them be. Whenever I cut the grass they would just scatter away for a while and come back a little while later.

Yeah I've never seen these things in person before until this summer. I saw one flying a near a curb while on a walk and was like HOLY SHIT THAT THING IS HUGE and steered clear. Then I saw one banging into my screen window a few weeks later and it looked like the size of my thumb. I looked it up and they are apparently non-aggressive but they look scary as fuck due to their size.

I was present at and helped write the questions for an interview with Coyote and he came across as a really good guy with a genuine enthusiasm for nature and for the conservation thereof. I also massively got the impression that the getting himself stung thing was solely a series of publicity stunts to make a name for himself that he was a bit embarrassed at having to do and that he cared much more for his education and conservation efforts.

I couldn't help but laugh at certain parts of the Executioner Wasp video

Like there's a shot of the wasp chilling in the glass while Coyote is in the far background convulsing on his hands and knees. That and the way he parising the wasp's sting as he was rolling on the ground in extreme pain.

His gar stuff was fucking embarrassing though.

Holy shit that thread. They continued to revise their posts, still lying, in order to get away with some claim to fame. Solomon kept pushing them, though, resulting in them conceding and actually meeting up with him. Hah
Can't repeated stings result in your body reacting harsher to the effects?
If this is true, it would sorta undermine the whole project

This guy is amazing! And I have to add that he looks so young for his age (39).

Well, aside from the educational goals... have you seen the view-counts of his sting videos?

Some of them have over 50 million views
I stand by me questioning this (also i'm joking, it's fascinating and terrifying)

I also have the issue of habitually clicking on insect threads and specifically spiders despite being absolutely terrified of them.
i'm starting to think maybe the issue is with me.
Maybe i just love suffering. Is that healthy?

Never heard of this dude until today. In the UK a you occasionally get Hornets and they are big fuckers compared to our regular wasps, but Mr. executioner is another level entirely!

Oh hey, I got stung by one of these the other day. Basically felt like getting a flu shot. It's weird because they've been around here my whole life and this was the first one that I've seen being aggressive in any way.

Either way, glad Coyote's back.

I like Coyote's old-school enthusiasm for animals; it's like a Steve Irwin or Jeff Corwin vibe. But the fucking torture porn shit turns me off.

There is around 5-8 every year that swarm around the entrance to my house every season and I've just got used to em after a couple years. They don't really fuck with you just buzz around. Kinda intimidating at first cause they huge but eh.

I just watched a bunch of his videos. I wish he had some kind of ranking of what's bitten him. It seems like either the Executioner Wasp or the Giant Desert Centipede is #1.
