I ahev a question for chubigans ; feel free to ignore if you don't want to answer.
Will humble store sell the cook serve delicious 3? I have humble monthly so i get a discount there.
If it isn't going to be sold there i'll buy from steam.

Do these have multiplayer? Are they similar to overcooked in any way?
Yes; No, aside from the superficial idea that you are cooking food for people.

Overcooked is you controlling characters, running around, assembling recipes.
CSD is more interface-y, you do everything from the UI/menus.

Dang, it feels like CSD2 just came out. I didn't play that much since it seemed to still be in-development at launch and I guess I never got out of that mindset. Now there's another new one! 💦

CSD2 had two player co-op, I think this probably does too. It's kind of like a typing game. Except typing out words taped onto zombies, you're prioritizing a dynamic queue of orders, memorizing food recipes, and managing food prep on the side.

I knew this was coming out soon but I didn't realize it was this week. Looking forward to playing it tonight.

Just played the first few levels on my lunch break, it's so good!! CSD 1 is one of my favorite games but I bounced off CSD 2 hard and still dont like to play it. This smartly uses the best bits from both games and pared the formula down to its essence to create an exhilarating arcade cooking game. (So far)

Boy, I didn't even get close to a 5-star restaurant in CSD1, never mind CSD2. It's probably a bad idea to buy this, isn't it.

but POST-APOCALYPTIC FOOD TRUCKS

(actually one of the things that appeals to me is no more chores, so maybe that's a genuine reason to dive in here)

I love - loved - the first one. Second one was okay, although I ran into a weird slowdown glitch where the official solution was to run a beta branch of the game. Never played as much of it.

Would be interested in more for sure.

Though the avocado poutine pictured above is pure blasphemy.

It will be on Humble once we release v1.0 later this year (Summer).

The second game was such a disappointment that I'll probably wait until well after the full release to pick this up.

My wife and I loved the first game. LOVED it. We played through every single challenge to wring out as much time as we could from it. She doesn't play many games at all (Like, really just this series and Overcooked), but the first Cook, Serve, Delicious clicked with her completely. As such, we bought CSD2 on day one...and were just so completely disappointed with it. The basic systems were still there and arguably better, but the change in structure to be more open-ended just killed our interest. We anxiously awaited all the patches to it that sounded like they would bring it more in line with the first game, but after several of them that made slight tweaks, we just bounced off of it forever.

From the little I've seen with CSD3, it appears to bring back something of a linear-ish structured campaign, which is great to hear. But CSD2 was such a turn-off that this is very much a wait-and-see for us unfortunately.

100% understand. That said, I definitely returned to a more linear/story based campaign and the structure is way closer to CSD 1 than 2. I'm excited to see the reviews!

i've had CSD2 on PS4 since launch, and i still play it (mostly co-op) once in a while, to scratch my cooking itch.
i just love all the pictures of the food, and we really like the chores part of it too (it mixes up the gameplay).

I'm so happy to hear it, and my wife will be over the moon. Honestly, despite my reservations, once she finds out about the Early Access she'll probably make me hop on Steam right away and get it. Haha, she adores the first game, man. Great work on it.

Best of luck with the launch!

Is there currently an "end game" in place in Early Access? Just curious how things would go if we played through all the EA levels before the full release, how easy it would be to get to the new content once it's out.

I've done a few levels and I love it so far. The gameplay changes are cool and help sell the food truck idea with how quick it is. And the music and general story premise is pretty great.

Can't wait to play this when it comes to Switch; I'm a big fan of the second one. I'd also love to see the original game come to Switch/consoles, too.

Congrats man. Though it really seems me and my brother were the only ones who preferred CSD 2's mission structure.
Thirded. The pre-set level structure forced me out of my comfort zone. I loved it.
Oh don't worry, there is plenty of experimenting with this game and I definitely force the player down some interesting paths later on in the campaign.

Won't quite be able to pick this up right now but I'll definitely be looking to pick it up within the next few months.

The first CSD is still one of my favourite Indie games so I'm looking forward to eventually playing this.

Gonna try to jump in on the weekend.

Also count me in as someone who enjoyed CSD2 for what it was. 1 had the nice progression system but with 2 having so many foods I personally thought having the themed restaurants with fixed menus and buzz helped soothe my choice paralysis with the giant menu of foods. And it's huge because I'm still not finished much less gold medalling everything.

I saw 2 mostly as a huge challenge mode around the themed restaurants since your restaurant was sort of just there and was fairly open ended.

Hahaha, i actually laughed when he showed the churros card and the location said "Portugal OR Spain"
chubigans Its clear you read the wikipedia article (that brings theories as sources from the huffington post from all places), but its really Spain. Hey at least you didnt put Mexico, thats were the majority of people from the USA think they are from lol
While one of the theories says it was brought by the portuguese from China, what they brought, if they did, was "you taio" something similar, but with a totally different shape and made with salt and not sugar.
Then theres the theory that it was created by spanish shepards but using a arab receipt in 1800 (which would make a lot of sense becuase we got a ton of arab culture the iberian peninsule was conquered by them for 500 years and a lot of food already comes from them). Both of these theories come originally from an english speaking article, which is not really the best source (and the problem seems that all things in the interent are using this article as the source).

So those are 2 theories, but what we know as fact is that the word churro was coined in the Spanish Royal Academy of Language in 1884, as a synonim of "cohombro" that was another way of saying cucumber in spanish, and here comes the interesting thing, in the dictionary it was also added «Frying pan fruit of the same dough as the "buñuelos" and which, after fried, is cut into pieces that resemble a cucumber» or what the the makers at the time more commonly called "syringe buñuelos". By the end of the XIX Century, the cohombro started to get thinner, giving it the traditional size spanish churros have, and people that attended Madrid's Buñolerías just starting using the word churro to call this fritter different from the "buñuelo".
BTW this are buñuelos and can be made inside of different ingredients like pumpkins (the valencian version) or sweet potato.
buuelos-de-viento.jpg

Churros became so popular during the 1900 that the name of the place were they were made, Buñolerías, changed to Churrerías, and the word cohombro fell in disuse and changed to "porras" (churro's bigger, thicker and softer borther, or what people in the US usually call churro).
So the actual word Churro is officialy coined in 1884, but we can find in actual written cooking books that before they were called cohombros and churros, "syringe buñuelos" already existed in a Royal Kitchen book called "Arte de Cozina" from 1611, and theres even similar recepeits from before the portuguese went to China in 1513. A castiallian manuscrit from the XV century called "Vergel de Señores" already talks about a similar elaboration and use of ingredients and calls it "fried fruit", and even before that an anonym manuscrit from the "andalusí" time period (XIII century) that while it doesnt talk of the shape and adds honey, it does use a similar type of elaboration and ingredients for a food called zulâbiyya (that comes from the arab kitchen).

So yeah, thats why, no matter the theories, the only fact is that the name of churro didnt appear until around the 1850 in Spain (it takes some time until the royal academy coins a word in the dictionary) and that the food could be traced even to the XIII or XV centuries. Would be cool if you guys changed it, but if not, is not that serious, but I always find it cool to learn more about food and culture in this type on more open media and stop misinformation from shady sources.

BTW this is the article that mentions all this books as sources of were the word and food came (the article is in spanish). Its a pity that the article of wikipedia hasnt been changed with real sources.

Chalk me up as another person that *loved* CSD1 and bounced off CSD2 quickly. I really liked the new upkeep/maintenance features in 2 but did not like the campaign format and how it felt like you were just a guest cook at other people's restaurants.

Glad to hear that this is returning to the more linear format of CSD1. I hope it maintains a feeling of progression, where you are unlocking new and more complex recipes that offer some risk/reward and are improving your restaurant in other ways that make it more attractive to customers or are just making your work easier.

The stations can be toggled on or off in that menu so they might be turned off right now.

Thanks for the heads up Chairmanchuck, and thanks for another CSD chubigans. I just bought it and I'm looking forward to giving it a go. Like a few others in the thread I broadly speaking preferred the structure of the first game but loved most of the other parts that were expanded on so if it marries the two I think I'm in for a treat!

I just got a chance to play the tutorial last night before bed and though I was half asleep I liked it a lot. The two voice actors to my (slightly deaf ears) sound great and the set-up in silly but fun. The two side -kick characters look to be both fun and have game play uses. They maybe sound a little similar but that fits thematically so it's not a knock.

I thought the choice of pretzels and ice-creams for the tutorial was good as it reminded me exactly what the game is all about straight away, hit on all the key game play devices and then immediately made me remember I'm going to have to get my shit together asap if I don't want to be all about that bronze!

Finally I had a quick flick through the available food and there looks to be some good stuff in here. I love that chubigans has marked which food has been in which in the series for those of us who've played through them both. Looking forward to once again exploring the culinary world via the brilliant in game food porn!

Never played a Cook, Serve, Delivious before until this one. While I'm getting used to how the game plays with the different keys for food prep, I'm really enjoying this game a lot! Chill mode is a nice addition to for eternally patient customers! Great Game chubigans!

Although I just want to ask this. Are there plans to include a Turducken in the recipes in CSD3? Is it already in the game?

Congratulations, chubigans! Bought this yesterday to show some support, although I'm busy playing other games right now.

I'll start playing when the patch for achievements goes live, is it scheduled for late February?

Played this game at my brother's house yesterday. It is anxiety-inducing in a good way.

Having every action on a different key is kind of like a mad genius idea, because even as you're desperately to glance between the different menus of information you can't help but go, "Well, I AM cooking different things." And indeed it really does feel like you're working on uniquely different dishes that all need different levels of attention, and some are legitimately harder to pull off within the time constraints as others. It forces you to slowly remember key combinations, and when this starts happening you start learning to recognize when a customer is about to leave or when you're out of something. I'm fucking terrible at it, but the systems leave room for growth potential and it makes me want to get better at it.

About to buy it right now, actually. Great job chubigans

Thank you so much! What's fascinating to me is how everyone has their own method of play- some with keyboard, others with gamepad and people like myself with mouse. It accommodates any level of play, or that's how I feel anyways. :D

Thanks so much y'all!!

I love the food in this game, I just wish the gameplay could evolve. Not a fan of navigating the menus. Perhaps for a spin off series.

I just want more than just pushing button combos. I want to move a character around, but still have the focus be on simulating the cooking with mini games or button combos.

I want to serve customers at the tables, etc.

So a combination of Overcooked, CSD, and Diner Bros. I still havent found the *exact* cooking game I want.

Oh, OK! So you gradually add more in as additional areas get added to the game, neat. Great to hear it's rolling out next week!

I like having achievements around as a personal record of my progress, even though I'm not the type of person to go for 100% in games any more.
