that's a very fine collection, especially the probotector part. hopefully they make it 60hz. just need a physical release now.
I've only played through them single player so keep that in mind; they are really good through the first and mostly latter portions but as they get near the end the difficulty becomes unfairly brutal, especially Super Contra. Definitely worth a playthrough to experience the NES counterparts in 16 bit for the music as well as the graphics.
Yup Konami doesn't want my money.sounds great
these collections really need physical releases btw
Ah, really? Nice!
Nice, should be an easy no death for me when I play it a lot. I did no death Contra NES, Super C, Contra 3 and Contra Hard Corps too! It's great, for a GB game. It's short and easy just like Super C.
That'll be tough, dual-screen grappling hook mechanic was a big part of that game.
Still not really sure why they stopped using the c-word after Super Contra in the arcades, instead we got Super C and Operation C before going back to it with Contra Force and Contra III.The title "Super C" always makes me lol because it is the same name as a chain of supermarkets over here.
These collections focus on the 80s and early 90s era of gaming. All 3 of them; that's the theme they are following.seems like they could have included at least some of the of the games after the snes era.

Doesn't make it a bad decision either.
In my opinion it does. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Original gameboy release, going by casltevania collection.Which version of Operation C is it gonna be? The one that came with Konami Game Boy Collection Vol.1 in EU has a (questionable) color palette for Game Boy Color and the title screen says Probotector despite not having the robots.
A very odd release that one.Which version of Operation C is it gonna be? The one that came with Konami Game Boy Collection Vol.1 in EU has a (questionable) color palette for Game Boy Color and the title screen says Probotector despite not having the robots.
The Return of the King.
Peak Konami. The Return of the King.
I'm buying this collection only because of Contra: Hard Corps.
It was originally not a Contra game, and it's not a finished game, it clearly hadn't had a final run of polish, likely because it wasn't even released in Japan but dropped only in the US for the late gen (post SNES) NES buyers. For completeness sakes I would have wanted this, but watching how slow this looks, realistically I'd never really want to play it.
Is it really this slow? Or is it just some weird thing where all Contras look that slow but my mind remembers them being so much faster?
- Probotector (Sega Mega Drive)
- Super Probotector: Alien Rebels (SNES)
Its a shame that Contra: reBIRTH its gonna be damned to the Wiiware inferno :(...Its a great game!
Pretty sure those NES controllers do work with this and the Castlevania collection just fine. They're basically joy cons, so I'm not sure where you got the idea they're limited use. These games are insanely hard to play with the controller options on the Switch. Too bad they released a NES controller that only works with NES games, but even then only a fraction of the NES games available on the system. I really should have bought this on pc.
Yeah, pretty odd.Surprised they didn't just toss in Contra Force if they wanted to pad the list, Probotectors should be region variants not slot-fillers.
Contra 4 was the original 'Mania'. A sequel made by fans of the original game that understood the original formula, style (80s action movie with Goldsmith-esque score) and appeal more than the actual company efforts for many many years. That'll be tough, dual-screen grappling hook mechanic was a big part of that game.
Why not a Contra Mania instead?
Contra was released in February 1987.Still not really sure why they stopped using the c-word after Super Contra in the arcades, instead we got Super C and Operation C before going back to it with Contra Force and Contra III.
