no castlevania 68k/chronicles in the other collection, no hard corps uprising or shattered solider in this one. konami can't do anything right confirmed.
Lack of 4 and Rebirth is sad but great collection still. Bought.
How is this a good thing then? It sounds like they padded the hell out of this collection when it could have been way better. The Probotector games are censored EU versions of Hard Corps (Genesis/Mega Drive) and Alien Wars (SNES) . Both entries have robots instead of usual humans (or wolfmen).
Not a super big fan of this, to be honest. Like, having the 8-bit and 16 bit versions of Contra is cool, but you effectively have the NES and Famicom versions, too. There's no reason for the NES version.
Including the European versions also seems like padding. Much like the Castlevania collection, including more recent entries like ReBirth and Hard Corps Uprising would have been sweeter than the European version of Hard Corps and Alien Wars.
Disagree. If there was no NES version of Contra, I wouldn't be buying it. For me the NES Contra is Contra.
The Famicom version, unless I'm mistaken, is just the NES version but with cutscenes and the story not being removed. The NES version, much like Dracula's Curse in the Castlevania collection, is actually a step down in terms of presentation.
The common explanation for this sort of change is that games in the late 80s and early 90s were often made more difficult in America due to the rental market. Game rentals were illegal in Japan but not America, so the American branches of some companies would insist on adjusting their games so that they would be too difficult to beat on a single rental.japanese version of hard corps is a must. i still dont know why they removed the energy bar from the western versions.
But at least Operation C made it(though why the GB version and not the NES one idk).
The Famicom version, unless I'm mistaken, is just the NES version but with cutscenes and the story not being removed.
What do you mean? There is no Operation C on NES. Maybe you mean Contra Force?
This whole time I thought they were the same game. Are they not?
This collection will get the JP and EU versions of the games. No Contra 4 is a big miss. Also, do those in the US get the Japanese version of Hard Corps as an option? The US version is much MUCH more difficult.
I played a lot of operation C growing up. I don't think I ever beat it. so.....DAY ONE PURCHASE!
The title "Super C" always makes me lol because it is the same name as a chain of supermarkets over here.
