Lucasfilm fired Carano for the anti-Semitic post on Wednesday. "Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable," the company said in a statement to Variety.

Now, conservatives are attempting to spotlight the alleged double standard of Lucasfilm firing Carano but not Pascal, who, in 2018, compared migrant children in the U.S. to Jewish children in Nazi Germany 1944. "#ThisIsAmerica," Pascal tweeted at the time. He included an image that supposedly shows children in a cage in the U.S., though the image's origins are unclear.

"Hey @disneyplus, isn't this a'social media post denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities' and isn't it 'abhorrent and unacceptable'?" Steven Crowder said, tagging the company.

Donald Trump Jr. is also campaigning for Pascal's termination, even suggesting that Lucasfilm's decision to part ways with Carano but not Pascal is sexist.

"Disney+ must immediately fire any actor who has made an overwrought Holocaust comparison," Ben Shapiro tweeted of Pascal.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) accused Disney of "canceling" Carano in a post lauding the Dallas native.

Conservatives are now trying to get Pedro Pascal fired for Holocaust comparison

Donald Trump Jr. even suggested the decision to fire Gina Carano but not Pascal is 'sexist.'

I hope this effort doesn't work because kids in cages and getting banned on social media are not remotely similar. And these people are going to complain about cancel culture in one breath and call for firing someone to prove their point in another breath?

Yeah, saw a fox news lie that Mandalorian fans were "confused" why transphobe lady was fired and he wasn't. I can assure you that we are not confused, Fox.

Pedro was making a legitimate observation based upon history.

Gia was throwing a tantrum because she's an idiot.

But conservatives have a infuriatingly hard time telling the difference.

I would imagine Disney learned their lesson with James Gunn. Also a false equivalence. Gina Carano was also a pattern of behavior and given many chances to stop.

I mean even if it were the same thing (it isn't), he wasn't even on the show at the time so it's not like he violated anything. Just gotta always be the victims

Why do conservatives love showing off how fucking stupid they are? I know they don't prize rational thought, but wallowing in their ignorance is just insulting to the intelligence of pigs.

They do know the difference and deliberately ignore it--mainly because they have no problem with fascist behavior towards brown people.

I don't know if conservatives are really stupid or just willfully ignorant about what the real issue. Or maybe it's a bit of both.

It's like when they don't understand the difference between pointing out a white majority is behaving badly and being racists and discriminating against black people with generalizations.

Yea he's got nothing to worry about. Always depressing to see conservatives miss the reality that it's a genuine comparison.

I have to love how they have been crowing from the roofs about cancel culture and their solution is to... invoke cancel culture.

Yep. They're just hungry to be legitimized by the too often naive people in charge of these decisions who play into their ploy to flatten all culture, ideals & rhetoric robbing them of context. There are too many centrists or "apolitical" entities and people who play right into their obvious nonsense thinking they're being even handed.

You become the character you play. Conservatives know "both sides" are not equal. They know saying good things are the same as bad things makes no fucking sense. But they need to draw false equivalency to make their positions seem valid.

Therefore conservatives have carefully cultivated a style of anti-intellectual and petty offense-taking that requires projecting a kind of breathtaking cluelessness while feigning a complete inability to understand what context is. And ruthlessly excising all self-awareness.

On the internet, we would call this bad faith trolling. For conservatives it has become a way of life and at this point it may be useless to ask whether it's an act. Even if they are technically smarter than this, it's how they believe they must act to win a culture war.

The right acts like "cancel culture" and "the mob" is a emblematic of the left but they do it all the time and in straight up embarrassing and shameful ways.

Case in point: Ask any Trump supporter about George Floyd and see what they say.

What is it about conservatives and whataboutism? It's like they both go together like pb and j
They don't have any facts or reason to back up their hateful, bigoted rhetoric so they're forced to pretend there's no difference between good & bad things so everyone is silenced. If they don't get to promote harmful ideals or have to face consequences for expressing them, then they want to throw a fit.

"Hey @disneyplus, isn't this a'social media post denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities' and isn't it 'abhorrent and unacceptable'?" Steven Crowder said, tagging the company.
Lol this shit is so lazy. Who exactly does Crowder think is being denigrated in that Pascal Tweet?

You need that office meme, where one picture is a Jewish concentration camp and the other is literally Hitler, then the conservative saying it's the same picture. That's how fucking dense they are.

Right wingers think this:
Because history is edited, most people today don't realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?

Is somehow equivalent to this:

An Expert on Concentration Camps Says That's Exactly What the U.S. Is Running at the Border

"Things can be concentration camps without being Dachau or Auschwitz."
My uber-conservative dad always got mad when I called the facilities on the border concentration camps because he said it's rude to America and we're not like the Nazis, and that they were merely being detained for an indefinite period of time (lol). I tried to tell him not all concentration camps are death camps and we actually used concentration camps several times before in our nation's history but his dumb fucking boomer brain simply couldn't comprehend it. These people truly have no awareness of anything or have an ideology outside of whatever hateful bullshit Fox News injects into their brains. They're fully propagandized.

The idiocy of conservatives is an unending fountain. It just never ends. Keeps going and going. Pedro's tweet is suitably comparable but cons are going to take this to their graves about how Hollywood has knives out for them and so on. They will never understand why Gina was fired and Pedro wasn't.
