I don't even have to read it to know that even in a hypothetical scenario where Republicans controlled all 3 branches again, there's no way that they would all agree to this plan.

The Republicans aren't stupid for attempting to pass this. They know what they're doing. They're counting on the ignorant and brainwashed voters to support this anti-poor healthcare bill.

Pay insurance, and then pay yourself, so that you can afford the out of pocket expense insurance fucks you on.

The theory is that the burden placed on the consumer through the higher deductible would encourage them to be more choosy about their healthcare services and reduce overall healthcare spending. They also encourage preventative care since most high deductible plans cover that 100%.
This is, of course, nonsense because the average American isn't a doctor and will really have no basis to compare different treatment options.

What this will lead to is increased overall spending when people who try to save money by opting out of preventive care end up needing more expensive procedures when they get really sick.

America is just so fucking weird. How can y'all still be against public healthcare in 2019?

Social dominance orientation (SDO) is a personality trait which predicts social and political attitudes, and is a widely used social psychological scale. SDO is conceptualized under social dominance theory as a measure of individual differences in levels of group-based discrimination; that is, it is a measure of an individual's preference for hierarchy within any social system and the domination over lower-status groups. It is a predisposition toward anti-egalitarianism within and between groups. The concept of SDO as a measurable individual difference is a product of social dominance theory.

Individuals who score high in SDO desire to maintain and, in many cases, increase the differences between social statuses of different groups, as well as individual group members. Typically, they are dominant, driven, tough, and seekers of power. People high in SDO also prefer hierarchical group orientations. Often, people who score high in SDO adhere strongly to belief in a "dog-eat-dog" world. It has also been found that men are generally higher than women in SDO measures. Studies have found that SDO has a strong positive relationship with authoritarian and racist beliefs.

Good luck with that.

The concern that Republicans would weaken the Affordable Care Act's protections helped doom the GOP plan to repeal and replace the law in 2017 and was one reason Democrats, many of whom ran campaigns focused on health care, recaptured the House in the 2018 midterm elections.

Still a concern for 2020. Healthcare is a top issue for Independents:

HSAs???

Republicans live in a fucking bubble that they think this is a good idea for people with low income... which is the whole point of making an AFFORDABLE healthcare system.
