Seriously. Argentina was a no go because of their Covid situation. Colombia because their political situation. And they chose Brazil.

Of course, there should be no Copa America this year, but why on earth would Conmebol make a reasonable decision.

Translation:

Brazil will host CONMEBOL @America Cup 2021! The best soccer in the world will bring joy and passion to millions of South Americans. CONMEBOL thanks the President @jairbolsonaro and his team, as well as the Brazilian Football Confederation @CBF_Futebol for opening the doors of that country to what is today the safest sporting event in the world. Putting sanitary concerns aside, why are these idiot confederations holding continental tournaments when they know they won't have enough time for World Cup qualifiers next year in the first place? CONMEBOL already skipped a date in March!

That Argentina became a no-go so close to the date of start left them with little viable options (countries that could reasonably be prepared to host this in such a short notice). Ideally they should have postponed, but perhaps moving to the US/Canada (if at all possible) would have been better than this.

Well, they used to invite Concacaf´s "stronger" teams during the 90s early 2000s , Mexico even played finals Vs Argentina and Colombia and several 3rd places in a row.

I can't speak about US or Concacaf as a whole, but the Mexican federation cut ties with CONMEBOL because.....well basically CONMEBOL are unfair pricks.

There's a whole lot of variation on what Continents are (in particular their number), with regards to "America" and "Eurasia":

In any case, the number of teams in Central America would make it quite a challenge (though, perhaps better for the overall improvement of the sport in the area).

CONMEBOL wants the money that team like Mexico brings ratings and fans, but it was also afraid of Mexico winning so they placed rules that invited teams could not bring their A team, so Mexico started sending crappy b and c teams.they stoped inviting Mexico.

And hell, let's not forget the last time that Mexico played with their A team against the reigning Copa America champion in the Centenario cup

Do you have a source for that? the news always said that it was Mexico not being interested in the 2015 edition of the Copa America, I have never heard Conmebol not letting them come with their best players, even here the coach says that they don't want to send players here

Well it's just a matter to see the Mexico's track record in the tournament from 1993 to 2007 and you pretty much can make a case what they are totally scared (let me know if you need source for that too) , let's not even talk about Libertadores and Mexican clubs performance (and the referee fuckery in the finals they played)
