yeah right. I feel like this is mostly so people who shelled out tons of money for elite or custom controllers don't have to hang those up.Awesome news. Now sell me a box without a controller so I can save $50

With this news, I've just preordered my Elite Controller Series 2. Can't fucking wait.
Nah, just means they can lock it behind a $150 elite v3 controllerI hope that doesn't mean the Xbox controllers are going to be missing gyro features again.
Gyro .. maybe.. share ? No way.. I hit that by accident on my ds4 all the time.I think the bummer about this is the Xbox controller really should have a share button and gyro controls standard.

I can't imagine how that would even happen, but even still it could be placed somewhere else if that was an issue. PS4 and Switch both have single button share functionality. This is a major gap for the Xbox in day to day use.
Xbox One already has haptic feedback triggers.
Might not be as advanced as what Sony is planning but I'd imagine MS might improve their tech too.
That's good in theory, but does that mean developer adoption rate of whatever new features on the new controller will be low to non-existent?
Does anyone else want them to get rid of the "View" and "Menu" button and go for something similar to start and select. IDK why but this has always bothered me.
Yeah I don't think that's true.Yeah, this could be very bad news. Gyro aiming is a must for controllers nowadays.
every other controller uses a two button "start/select"layout including all PlayStation controllers up to now and you can't imagine how??? Really?
I use the DS4 touchpad only so I can bind left/right touchpad clicks to keyboard keys, ex: engine brake for truck sim games, more or less elite controller paddle stuff on a budgetSo it's the same with every generation so far? Seriously, how many games make extensive use of the ds4 touchpad?
people are still playing third party games on PC with 360 controllers. These new features are nothing but excuses to force prior controllers into obsolescence. And when these controllers cost $60 a pop, that's incredibly stupid.
Generation to generation, build quality, ergonomics, and battery life (if there's an internal battery) are all that should matter to anyone besides Nintendo.
Yeah, this could be very bad news. Gyro aiming is a must for controllers nowadays.
I'm a fan of colorful stuff. 😋You know I just realized that they changed that on the Xbox One! I could see how people could miss that feature.
A must that like 1% of people actually use.Yeah, this could be very bad news. Gyro aiming is a must for controllers nowadays.
Idk, sounds like the same as analog buttons, more or less, press harder to get different actions. Like in MGS2 HD gently letting go of the action button (Square?) makes snake put down pistol on PS3 but I think on 360 it doesn't
I had mine preordered already, but now I'm happy that all of my controllers will work if we choose to do so.With this news, I've just preordered my Elite Controller Series 2. Can't fucking wait.
I really hope that the next Xbox controller has gyro in it because gyro aiming makes games better. Otherwise though sticking with the X1 pad would be great, it's a very good controller.
This means backwards compatible. Forward compatibility means a newer generation accessory works on an older generation console. Example, the Dualshock 4 works on the PS3. If a Xbox One game works on the Scarlett does that mean it's forward compatible? Like where do people come up with these dumb terms.
I assume DualShock 4 will work with PS4 software on PS5. DualShock 5 may be required for PS5 games, though.
Gyro aiming? Maybe on Switch, Wii U, Vita, etc... but Xbox? Have you used gyro aiming on a regular controller before?

As someone quite thoroughly horrible at aiming with gamepads in console shooters, Splatoon's gyro controls are one of the best things ever to happen to first/third person shooting games on consoles. It would be fantastic if I could get that kind of controls on Xbox... and PC, since the Xbox controller is the default one on PC and its featureset is the one most games support.
