Concept Art for Dark Souls III's previous, unreleased iteration have leaked

Longstory short one of the artists posted these on there art station portfolio and were instructed by FROMSOFT to take them all down...but it was too late cause 4chan and discord already got there hands on them.

Everyone familiar with the original leaks should be aware of what this shot depicts.

What I love about Dark Souls 3 is how much it is influenced by Bloodborne. You can see it in the undead settlement or untended graves.

FromSoft has some of the best artists out there. This is beautiful.

Looks a LOT like the alpha screenshots that were leaked prior to the games announcement. A lot of alpha content has since been uncovered and posted on YouTube, and it appears that this game has had so much cut content, almost as if the game was scratched and rebooted.

Artists use references. This is how the sausage is made - every single great architectural concept art starts with an artist crudely slapping together pieces of famous buildings lol

That's how a lot of concept art is made. Often concept artists Photoshop something together and then paint over it. One of the concept artists of The Last of Us 2, Danar Worya, used photos of an IKEA to create concept art for that game for example.

Probably a really early idea of what would wind up being High Wall of Lothric. Almost feels like the town square that's guarded by the first Winged Knight.

Yeah. The alpha map of the Peak found by Lance is a less ruined version of the release version map.

I've seen these months back somewhere. They look great. From like many other studios tend to heavily outsource concept art for their projects. These are only a handful of pieces that never saw the light of day in any artbook.

Was it really necessary to make a thread for this? They have been out there for 2+years now.

These pictures never leaked. They were uploaded to artstation years ago by someone going by Jocus Wang and, due to reasons unknown to me, they were later taken down. They've since been going around imageforums, most notably pinterest and have passed mostly unnoticed but they've always been public.

On top of that, I wasnt able to find any mention of said artist in either the credits of bloodborne or DS3 so chances are this is just a case of someone trying to take ownership over work they didnt produce.

If there's anything interesting to note about these is how half of them are just badly attributed to DS3 when they are clearly concept art for bloodborne. There's also the case of that concept for a library with a ds3 character that was later turned into a piece for Boodborne's cainhurst

Yeah, Dark Souls 3, while an enjoyable romp, just never really got "there". The whole sun leaking thing not really making it in properly was baffling (although I guess challenging as a skybox shader I guess?), all the mad stuff planned around making bonfires with ash and corpses, and other cut stuff felt like they threw out too much of the actual flavour. I mean, its no way as bad as DS2, but still, it cements Dark Souls 1 as the best Medieval FROM game. We'll see if Elden Ring can surpass it I guess?
