There's no treatment. You just wait it out. Its a rare disease activated initially by infection or medication. You can only lessen the itchyness with anti histamines. I've been taking baths 2 tones a day in baking soda I believe and that stops the itchyness for a few hours.

I've showed freeza pics of my body during my last attack and he knows it's no joke.

My attacks last from 4-6 weeks on a sliding scale of pain.
huh, does your type not respond to the drugs i'm seeing recommended online? Acyclovir/Zovirax? Or is that something you decided not to try?

I was just told that I can only take medication that lessens itchyness. Over the counter antihistamines.

If Hickman wrote Marauders #14, it'd be a FOURTH retelling of the same god damn backstory.

I'm fine with the history but I feel like I'm missing some stuff. Maybe it's because I'm pretty dumb but maybe someone here get it better than me:
1 - What exactly is Amenth? Some alternate reality planet, some hidden place on earth. If it's on the other side of the starlight citadel then is it a whole universe that mirrors 616?
2 - Why did Icsa join Amenth? It's clear that part of the problem of Amenth is that people go crazy, but Isca seems stronger than most. They totally just gloss over it. Her mutant power is to not lose and it drove her to Amenth? Theoretically if she was fighting the crazy song, she would not lose and would stay with Genesis.
3 - The White Sword of the Ivory Spire can resurrect people. He has gone crazy and resurrects his army just to cause chaos? Or did he join Amenth? Does joining Amenth just mean you've given in to the crazy song of the universe? Is Amenth that abstract?

worth asking about if you talk to your doctor again. worth getting a second opinion. definitely worth pushing for a specialist/dermatologist if you haven't already. as someone with a physical problem that my doctor told me i'd just have to live with, i'm so sympathetic, messi.

Oh wow, thats a bummer. Might be worth trying to talk to a dermatologist if you havent already. When I got my shingles outbreak, my normal doctor thought I was using too much deodorant lol. Wasnt until I saw the dermatologist that they actually were able to help.

Or it could just be from reading too much shonen jumps

I think Amenth is supposed to be some sort of weird hell dimension. Its actual physical location is unknown.
2. Isca joined the Amenth because she supposedly 'can never lose' and the Amenth are the winning side.
3. It sound like to me that the White Sword is just crazy and ressurects his army to fight and kill anyone near to him. Demon or Mutant alike.

fucking recommending antihistamines. at the very least, there's gotta be at least a dozen types of OTC lotion that would be great for itching and pain management they could have recommended, as well as stronger alternatives through prescription. Messi

i'm pissed. you absolutely shouldn't be left in pain.

1- Amenth is some kind of other hellscape dimension / universe different from Earth, yeah
2- Isca's mutant power makes her unable to lose (somehow) so, since Okkara was losing, back before everyone was transported to Amenth, she joined Amenth. It's not explained very well and it's still kinda confusing how her powers work. Only weak-minded mutants go crazy in Amenth or something like that.
3- The White sword seems to be able to resurrect 100 people every day. So he got himself an army of 100 people and marched into Amenth long before the rest of Arakko, and he fought the amenthians all that time. Genesis says war and bloodshed became his new religion, but in Stasis it looks like he's extremely loyal to the Okkara of old, and loathes this new Arakko-Amenth union and calls the horsemen traitors, so there's more going on here.

I guess I should give the whole thing a sober re-read.

Right, for #2, its shown that Isca joined the other side because they were going to win no matter what. They had been biding their time for 100 years and the Mutants thought they were ready to win since the Amenth were sending such a small force to their walls compared to what they really had. Along with breeding Amenthy with the mutants creating a whole new generation to fight.

And for #1, the way I see it is that Arakko and Krakoa were once one big land mass that was split in two by the twilight sword, 100s of years ago in the 616 universe, but in otherworld or whatever its called. Krakoa is now on our earth, while Arakko is still in Otherworld, and now the story is told during present day.

I do like Genesis. I hope that she is saved from Annihilation. I like Isca too, and Solemn and Pogg. If X-Men lose, I hope it's to one of them. Except Magik. She and Pogg will join forces and fight shoulder to ankle against Annihilation or Saturnyne...whoever is the end big bad.

I haven't read this week's Marauders yet. Just X-Men

Yea, im expecting some of them, like Death and Pogg, will stick around after the event thing is over. It does feel like Saturnyne will become a villain by the time this is over.

I wonder if they will end up rejoining Arakko and Krakoa, and find some common ground to live together somehow.

Pretty confident Okkara was originally on Earth, thousands of years ago. The Twilight Sword split the island in two and opened a rift to Amenth, this nightmare hellscape dimension (correction, it's not necessarily a nightmare hellscape dimension, but rather just another world that's dominated by the Amenth. some of the art from amenth looks pretty nice!). The Arakko half went through the rift to Amenth, the Krakoa half stayed on Earth where it's been since. Its only recently that Arakko mutants invaded Otherworld from Amenth, taking over the Otherworld Kingdom of Dryador. They haven't explained how Amenth did this. Maybe it'll be explored in Excalibur in the future.

when they talk about how they sent Summoner through a rift to Earth, they also show another rift opening in dryador, so yeah, the invasion of Otherworld was super recent

I can see Saturnyne getting out of it by being "Annihilation wanted to invade everything, I tricked them into holding back their armies with a tournament. I'm really good." She seems to hate the new Dryador peeps as much as she hates Betsy so who knows. She has always been super manipulative like that. But I can also see her ending up with the Golden Mask.

There was a future vision way back in dawn of X or maybe even Hoxpox of Doug and Krakoa merging into one being, so maybe after his (possible) death, he becomes one with Krakoa, but does that mean it doesn't merge with Arrako? Or does that future no longer happen if Doug dies.

Sorry if all the spoilers are annoying. Tell me to stop if it's not needed.

I'm not sure there is anything major to spoil at the moment except the last page of Marauders.
Its mostly just lore and backstory. So I'm ok without hiding stuff.

Crossover is off to an intriguing start. Was worried it was going to be another 1985 rehash, but I'm happy with it so far. Geoff Shaw just gets better and better.

Nice! Glad you enjoyed it. I remember you were a bit sceptical based on his other works. I definitely thing this was more than just body horror.
It's very different from his other works in tone and... restraint. haha. It's very funny, and he hits great absurdist humor notes without resorting to shock. I can't even type out some of the stuff I saw in the book I read of his in October, because I'd probably get banned.

Not that my normal write-ups are super long or in-depth, but this will be a shorter one just to get some eyes on the book. Kago's part of the ero guro nansensu tradition, which means a lot of his books have graphically sexual and grotesque imagery. Luckily, this one is different. I loved one of his past books, and I've largely hated everything since until this one. The tone is very different. He doesn't show very horrific things. There might be a few kinda disturbing images, but they're largely just weird and funny. I felt that absurdist humor was turned up in this series, so I had a lot of laughs without any stomach-churning shit.

The series is about a young woman working as a senior health aide. That sounds... normal, right? The catch is that her situations and those she cares for are very abnormal. There's a former Ultraman-esque superhero who needs to be cared for, a woman whose Alzheimer's makes people disappear from existence when she forgets them, and a woman whose wrinkles spread to other people and objects—just to name a few. Sometimes the world ends. Sometimes everyone dies. Sometimes, we're flung into the far future. The stories never really get dull, because Kago is a machine for creating fresh, weird ideas. They way he crafts these oddities while also making some great critiques of how Japan cares for its elderly population is great.

Pretty fun if you like absurdist humor or just want to read something new and different. I doubt it's like anything you've read before.

This was the first or second thing I've read by him and I could not get into it. I find too much of the art to be disturbing or uncomfortable.

I guess I should've taken into account that I probably have a high tolerance for that, but I found it to mostly be weird on the humorous side. I imagine it's not for everyone. If you've read something else by him, I imagine whatever that was was far more disturbing, though. Most of his other work disgusts me.

Can someone tell me if there is an easier way to link a post to a specific user.
I know you can type it all out with the [User] tag and their number, I just wondered if there was an easier way.

Ok this is my first review of the comics of the year nominees.
I want to try and review one comic from each person. Usually the first issue of the series.
Hopefully I can manage it.

So review #1

Strange Adventures #1 nominated by bluexy
Written by Tom King and illustrated by Mitch Gerads and Evan 'Doc' Shaner.

I will start off by saying the art by both artists is excellent.
Shaner provides a clean bright classic comic book feel for the fantastical scenes on Rann. With Gerads instead opting for a more detailed realistic drawings for the grounded scenes on Earth. Switching backwards and forwards between the two styles gives the comic an interesting sense of unease, clearly an intentional choice.

This leads us to the story by Tom King. I will start by saying I have had a mixed response to King's work in the past, some I have enjoyed, some I have not, but this one issue definitely intrigues me.
It is hard not to see parallels to his previous work on Mister Miracle, but so far Strange Adventures presents an interesting mystery surrounding Adam Strange. What do we really know about the square jawed adventurer? Is he a space hero or a space monster? I must admit I am curious to find out.

Hopefully this is ok bluexy
I started with you as you were tyop of the list.
But would you like me to link you to every review I write, in addition to whoever nominated the book?
