Holy shit, what an insult. The only issue I had with the art was Ward kept making Black Bolt's face look like Quitely's Cassandra Nova.

It felt like there was missing story to me. I couldn't get over that.
Must suck to be stuck in paradise.Ha. Neil Gaiman is stuck here in NZ. I knew Amanda Palmer was playing concerts, but totally forgot they were together.
It's mostly a lesbian romcom, which gets hot and heavy at times, but it's still mostly just romcom. Is it just a bunch of male fantasy cheesecake or is there something of substance to it?
Cool, I like romcoms. I'll check it out then. It was just very easy to think a comic about a lesbian BDSM relationship written by a guy was not much more than light porn. It's mostly a lesbian romcom, which gets hot and heavy at times, but it's still mostly just romcom.

It's a story about lesbians, written by a man, but I can say as a lesbian who is sensitive to the fetishization of my sexuality, that the lesbian characters at the center of the story are written as actual people. The book is good about representing a destigmatized view of BDSM culture and healthy sexuality. Is it just a bunch of male fantasy cheesecake or is there something of substance to it?
i think part of it's just release dates. x-men #6 had two more weeks on the market than #7 and comichron's said before that x-men is a highly-reordered series.let's cut through the gristle of gimmicks, relaunches and stunts, it's
THIS MONTH IN REGULAR-ASS COMIC SALES (for february)
1. X-Men #6 ($3.99) - 92,287
2. X-Men #7 ($4.99) - 76,691
3. Batman #88 ($3.99/$4.99) - 74,423 (56,992 + 17,431)
4. Batman #89 ($3.99/$4.99) - 73,390 (56,409 + 16,981)
5. Amazing Spider-Man #39 ($3.99) - 60,302
6. Batman: Curse of the White Knight #7 ($4.99) - 54,255
7. Amazing Spider-Man #40 ($3.99) - 54,210
8. Guardians of the Galaxy #2 ($3.99) - 50,934
9. Immortal Hulk #31 ($3.99) - 49,545
10. Venom #23 ($3.99) - 48,894
of note:
-if someone has a take on why come X-Men is always all over the goddamn place, I'd be willing to read it; it'd be one thing if the price point of #7 pushed some away, but #6 sold 11,844 more copies than #5, which itself sold 12,899 less copies than #4, it seems to be every other issues doing 90k and I cannot explain it
-most of the variance in the Batman numbers comes from the card stock variants, if you just look at the regular price point, the last three issues charted are at 56k or thereabouts, which is remarkably steady (#86 being a soft relaunch means I don't see it and I don't count it)
-I don't understand the drop between the two issues of ASM, they both had a Gwen variant, my guess is Larraz is way in demand now because of X-Men but that's it?
-yeah Marvel's business picked up mostly on variants huh

I bet you've explained why before, but I don't think I'm aware.
It's mostly aesthetic. I don't like the sketchy look of the non-painted pages, and I strongly dislike the designs of almost all the BDSM gear and even the characters' normal fashion/clothing.I bet you've explained why before, but I don't think I'm aware.
Interesting. I totally get not being into the aesthetic. For me, I felt motivated to read the book because I loved the character interactions, so I didn't mind so much that it wasn't super explicit. It's mostly aesthetic. I don't like the sketchy look of the non-painted pages, and I strongly dislike the designs of almost all the BDSM gear and even the characters' normal fashion/clothing.
I also wish it was more sexually explicit. It's already a completely adults-only thing that no one is ever going to touch if they aren't okay with strong sexual content, so I don't see the value in holding anything back. I guess my feeling is that it's gone too far to not go the rest of the way. If it was less explicit than it already is, I might not feel so strongly that it needed to go further.
Well, it's mainly because of the trailers and less because of the movie, but there's a scene in the trailers where Anna grabs a sword from Kristoff and turns around to face something. I think that got replaced by her grabbing a sword from one of the frozen soldiers to face the wind spirit. There's also the line from the trailer's where Pabi tells Anna that, just to sum it up, Elsa could lose herself to magic because it has such a powerful allure. It's extra motivation for Anna, but not like she really needs it.
The main one is Kristoff. He's just kind of there, and then not there for the movie. Yes he has his fun little 80's power ballad, but then he doesn't do anything. It bothered me because honestly, what is there for him to do? He just doesn't feel like he really needs to be there. It's Anna and Elsa's story and everyone else is along for the ride. Olaf was fine, too. Just Kristoff.
Yea thats nuts, especially for a book at that price. But totally deserved to sell that well imo. I bet it could have hit 250K if Marvel had pushed it even harder.
I really appreciate you giving your thoughts on it, thank you. I'm completely fine with its subject matter, and it's fantastic to know it doesn't fall into the tropes I feared it might. I look forward to checking it out even more now. It's a story about lesbians, written by a man, but I can say as a lesbian who is sensitive to the fetishization of my sexuality, that the lesbian characters at the center of the story are written as actual people. I don't actually love the book myself, but not because anything about it is objectionable. Sejic is on the up and up, at least as far as his work is concerned (I know nothing about him personally).
if that were the case, I feel like X-Men #5 should appear in the chart, and it doesn'ti think part of it's just release dates. x-men #6 had two more weeks on the market than #7 and comichron's said before that x-men is a highly-reordered series.

I didn't say he should have made it differently to suit me, I was explaining why it didn't work for me. Which I don't even like bringing up out of nowhere, and only commented on again because I was directly asked!I always find this complaint disrespectful tbh
maybe sejic made exactly what he wanted to make and that should be enough for anyone, whether they enjoy his work or not
let creators cook!
I think it's as fair as any subjective preference with entertainment. "I wish it did _____" seems normal.I always find this complaint disrespectful tbh

let creators cook! trust me there's enough pervy stuff out there as it is

He did. He intentionally doesn't show nudity or full sex at times. He finds that part boring and thinks he can convey the same without showing it.
No. In fact all heroes should have a cape because it looks cool
ya bats dont have capes why does batman
fuck. this is the batman we need right now.
I heard you paint comicsi said i don't like stjepan sejic here once and the next day someone with an irish accent said "you're leaving this community" and shanked me
