2020 already has a pandemic, devastating earthquakes, a crushed economy, but sure why not some hurricanes too.

Locusts Are Ravaging the Horn of Africa—the Coronavirus Is Making Things Worse

For months, hundreds of millions of locusts have been flying across East Africa, the Arabian Peninsula and the Middle East, forming the largest swarms seen in decades. New swarms are continuing to spread from Kenya to Iran, and the worst swarms—those over the Horn of Africa—are multiplying quickly.

That would definitely be bad when you combine it with the fact that the Gulf Of Mexico is on fire:

So far, everything in the Atlantic is warmer than average. But if you look closely (you really don't have too) you can see, the Gulf of Mexico is on fire. Nearly 4C above average. The MDR isn't super warm but is definitely warmer than normal.

If a hurricane develops and finds itself wandering into the Gulf, it could feed uncontrollably given the conditions. Obviously the fewer hurricanes we have this season, the better chance we have of avoiding the Gulf supercharging some hurricane to Harvey or Michael levels or stronger.

California
I think we all knew this was inevitable with global warming. Give it a few years and California will be having hurricanes as well.

Life is only going to get worse, but at least those profits were worth it right?

East and Gulf Coast is going to be hit hard by so many man made problems. Insufficient and in some cases politically motivated reckless deliberate failure to prepare for an epidemic we knew about in December.

The dismantling of health insurance for the most vulnerable.

An utterly destructive failure to fix rotting infrastructure.

Political leadership that will literally kill the same people it encouraged to hatred and ignorance pursuing the agenda of a sociopathic know-nothing narcissist - all to feed a short -sighted economic philosophy that had already transformed into an unworkable uroboros by actually becoming the disguise of populist xenophobia it was trying to harness.

It's one thing when your sponsored politician is pretending to be a second amendment drown the government folksy bigot - but when it's no longer a rabble rousing act -- then your federalist birthed master plan now has morons at the wheel.

I guess the upside is going to be affordable housing for millennials if they're willing to do the repairs on Grandma Ruthie's flood damaged sea level rancher.

Get your ass to the polls in November and vote for basic common sense and decency if you can even find it on your ballot.

Even if you love Trump and fantasize about saving your backwoods compound from ravening Mexicans or zombies, at least consider how inconvenient canceled movies or unavailable lysol wipes or the brutal cost of your diabetes medicine is and maybe hold your nose and vote for someone who thinks your fellow racists should also have affordable health insurance and a decent wage.

Government is not there to agree with your biases or cheer on your anger -- It's there to run a complicated country. It should at least be competent.

This year is going to demonstrate if aerosol dimming from all the particulates we emit is hiding some effects of warming. Based off the heat in the Atlantic and the plummeting levels of sea ice, 2020 is going to be a helluva year even beyond the pandemic.

The Great Barrier Reef is also undergoing a bleaching event worse than 2016. Summer is probably going to be hot as fuck so nasty wildfires are all but guaranteed.

Setting up evacuations and shelters during a pandemic sounds like a fucking nightmare, but also right on par for 2020.

It makes sense that diminished global smog and reduced sea ice would provide storms with more energy to feed off of. The interactions between disastrous weather, wildfires, and heatwaves with the ongoing pandemic is going to be dire.

The dimming of aerosols is interesting to think about. It's messed up, but our pollution cloud is keeping earth cooler then where it would be if that cloud just disappeared.

Boiling pot just keeps getting hotter.

Nigga, we are getting jumped.

I live in Houston. Imagining another Harvey this year on top of everything going on is almost funny, in a macabre way.
