"In Colombia they are assassinating us"

Today in Cali, the armored police squad of ESMAD started attacking one of the farmers' markets selling products to civilians

These emerging points have been serving to producers to sell their products locally since several roads are blocked by the ongoing protest.
E1Em7biX0AkF_nS

And finally, the names of the 47 people who have died amidst the protests:
E0-_c46XEAoufEI

39 assassinated directly by police brutality.

Do you have any sort of mainstream or reliable news feed source (in spanish is okay too) to follow up this and maybe update the thread?

One update from our "beloved" business man's...

www.elespectador.com

La “legítima defensa” y otras propuestas del uribismo y empresarios en Pereira para frentear el paro nacional

En una reunión privada, con miembros del Centro Democrático, se puso sobre la mesa la conmoción interior y la presión a la prensa a través de pauta.

The Patron de Fundo mentality never left. These guys aren't just happy with having a shit load of money and controling several aspects of society, they also want us to thank them for it. I just read the article, it's really disgusting

Updated the title

Thanks for the update!

Yeah, sadly, any mainstream news is plagued by bad takes or lack of coverage...
Yesterday was 1 attack on 1 cop, not even deadly, and it's getting coverage all around the news, when everything was under complete control in every city until the armed police starting attacking. And what about the +40 killed these past days? And the missing ones?

But there are some great outliers are like this one:
E1R7eMWXoAgOJH0

E04aWiJXoAQ-ADI

In other words:

😂

The rest is pure trash...

I've been getting live news and coverage from Tik Tok, Twiiter, Instagram, Telegram, etc.

Anyway:

That silliness of having Copa America in Colombia needs to stop, a sports tournament can't happen when we know what purposes that serves:

Totally disgusting, and the government (And those armed rich sickos) are 100% enabling this:

Paro Nacional: menor de edad se habría quitado la vida tras denunciar violencia sexual por parte de policías

De acuerdo con organizaciones de derechos humanos, la joven denunció que agentes de la Policía la violentaron sexualmente, tras ser detenida.

Minor died by suicide after being sexually assaulted by police.

This happened in Popayán where protests where violently shut down and there were unlawfully arrests.

Man this is so sad. I feel for Colombians right now. And as usual it feels the world doesn't care and sees this as normal for Latin America. Like... this thread is 3 pages long and it's been up for days. And tbh that's pretty good for a thread on LatAm struggles here.

I appreciate folks who are updating the thread and providing good sources. My family in Colombia is such trash. They are all in the Uribe cult and don't give a fuck about what happens as long as the upper class stays in power. Irony is that a lot of them would literally be homeless if my parents didn't financially support them 100%.

Álvaro Pérez, who runs a small logistics business, had been waiting for six hours in a queue that snaked around the neighbourhood, and was losing patience.

"We need to go back to work, to be able to move around freely" he said. "I supported the protests at the beginning – most of us did – but this is never-ending now."

Same thing happened here. The government and media started saying that the protests were only harming the small and medium businesses, in an attempt at turning people against people, and thus forgetting why the people are in the middle of this in the first place.

And in that attrition tactic, of course the people is the only one suffering. I don't doubt Duque's willing to chocke them before doing anything else.

Sebastián Munera, 22, was killed a couple of hours ago by the ESMAD armed police squad in Popayán.
Cops shoot a stun grenade directly to his neck. He was a STEM student in UniMayor college who worked part-time selling food to finance his studies.

Colombia's president ordered that the city must return to normality to the minister of defense, head of the armed forces including military and police.

I guess several assassinations will soon be happening in these usually forgotten parts of the country.

Duque preside el retroceso de Colombia en la escena internacional

El rechazo internacional crece frente a la represión del paro por parte del Gobierno, y encuentra a un aparato diplomático colombiano en desorden, tras la renuncia de la canciller Claudia Blum.

This one gave me a chuckle... but not gonna lie, much of the Colombian media is shit, including most of the international correspondents working on international sites like Janiot on CNN.

The Colombian government didn't authorize the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights to visit the country, BTW, saying that it's "too violent" right now.

Motherfucker, now is the moment to visit, not after you violently repress all protests. They couldn't be more transparent that they want to give the image internationally that everything is fine, when it's really not.

The future is very uncertain however. But that's the whole point right? It's always been. Too much for most.

Medellín lived through terrible chaos today.

Young people with no future have nothing to lose and they do not feel like owners of the city they inhabit and rage and impotence overflowed. They only have to risk everything for everything." "Colombians, so emotional, are losing the background of the strategy and rationality necessary for structural change. There is an overwhelming number of dark criminals and 'paramilitaries' in the streets." "It seems that the government wants the whole disaster to worsen to be able to take out the public force with all its weight, establish a state of internal commotion and reach a dictatorship. Civilians (paracos, hired killers) shot the press and the police backed them up.

There was the burning of banks, health units, in addition to the destruction of public equipment, used as a shield by the protesters. Chaos!"
So far the report. To further heat the atmosphere, the government of Ivan Duque disavowed the agreement that its representatives had reached with the Unemployment Committee in Buenaventura, due to pressure from far-right politicians such as Germán Vargas Lleras and Álvaro Uribe Vélez.

Three people died this Friday in confusing events that happened in Cali, A member of the "First Line" group, as the young people who stand with shields in front of the mobilizations are known, told various media that a man who was prevented from passing at a blockade point took out a gun and started shooting at the people who were there. That sparked a confrontation in which, according to the young man, the man, who apparently was a member of the Prosecutor's Office according to the documents he was carrying, continued to shoot while the other people who were there threw stones at him and then lynched him to death.
Duque ordered this Friday "the maximum deployment" of military assistance for the department of Valle del Cauca (southwest) and its capital, Cali, which today experienced a new wave of violence during the sixth "national strike" in which at least three people died.

And to put more gasoline on the fire, the Council of State is about to approve fracking.

I think Duque's intention to lead the country into a civil war is clear, this is paving the way for a dictatorship. And since there is no real coverage by the "big media" this will just go unnoticed by most.

i'm from cali, there are helicopters flying low on residential areas, i don't know what to feel...scared? sad?, i think they are doing this in here because this is one of the more progressive colombian cities and they (duque's political party) lost every election in here, they got rich people (narco?) shooting at protesters with the police right by their side only watching (even although firearms are illegal in here). They arrested a musician and made it say it was throwing stones...they are probably massacring humble neighborhoods tonight.

I know they don't care what this city people think of them, but it hurts me seeing so many lives erased only because they protested agains a corrupt government.

People is still being killed to this day...

A 16-year-old kid was killed today by the police in Cali.

He was unlawfully arrested in a protest, taken by a cop truck, today his body was found with signs of torture and charred to death, after a supposed robbery ended up as a fire elsewhere; his body was alongside others protester.

A video of her sister talking (In Spanish):

A musician participating in the protests was also tortured until he "confessed" on video to cops of being a vandal...
There is proof that he only was playing the trumpet...

Meanwhile, a rich guy, fully identified, who was protected by cops shot openly against marchers in Cali was given a full coverage in the news to say his side of the story:
E2qj_P-XoAE6rW9

Sad story is that this country is full of this type of paracos, or wannabe paracos (Thanks to the United States too btw). Rich people, or people who want to be rich, who are willing to kill anyone who they deem below them but even slightly affect their proposed lifestyle.
