In early 2015, a man who runs a small technology company showed up at Trump Tower to collect $50,000 for having helped Michael Cohen, then Donald Trump's personal lawyer, try to rig online polls in his boss's favor before the presidential campaign.

In his Trump Organization office, Mr. Cohen surprised the man, John Gauger, by giving him a blue Walmart bag containing between $12,000 and $13,000 in cash and, randomly, a boxing glove that Mr. Cohen said had been worn by a Brazilian mixed-martial arts fighter, Mr. Gauger said.
Mr. Cohen disputed that he handed over a bag of cash. "All monies paid to Mr. Gauger were by check," he said, offering no further comment on his ties to the consultant.

The Trump Organization declined to comment. Rudy Giuliani, a lawyer for Mr. Trump, said Mr. Cohen's being reimbursed more money than he paid RedFinch showed the former Trump lawyer to be a thief. "If one thing has been established, it's that Michael Cohen is completely untrustworthy," he said.

I also find this crazy:

Mr. Gauger, who recounted those dealings to The Wall Street Journal, said that though Mr. Cohen promised him lucrative work for the presidential campaign, his activities related to Mr. Trump consisted of trying unsuccessfully to manipulate two online polls in Mr. Trump's favor.

During the presidential race, Mr. Cohen also asked Mr. Gauger to create a Twitter account called @WomenForCohen. The account, created in May 2016 and run by a female friend of Mr. Gauger, described Mr. Cohen as a "sex symbol," praised his looks and character, and promoted his appearances and statements boosting Mr. Trump's candidacy.

So seems like this will end up being a pretty big story once its really propagates through the news today.

Why is it not shocking that the guy who constantly complained about fake poll numbers was out there trying to manipulate poll numbers?

But why? This is some weird vanity shit.

I think the title should have a distinction that this was some weird online polling on CNBC, not like official organization polls.
In January 2014, Mr. Cohen asked Mr. Gauger to help Mr. Trump score well in a CNBC online poll to identify the country's top business leaders by writing a computer script to repeatedly vote for him. Mr. Gauger was unable to get Mr. Trump into the top 100 candidates.

Couldn't even crack the top 100.

It also means, the likely hood, that they paid to alter most polling, and attempted to alter clintons internal polling.

Placing her ahead of trump, thus shifting the clinton campaign and money outside of the states that were battle grounds.

In hindsight, I'm just happy that women have to be paid to say this about these two knuckleheads.

Bogus online "polls", but Trump would point to those things all the time to show that actually, he was killing it

Yup. If there's one thing Trump knows instinctively, it's how to run a con - and a huge part of that is creating the impression of something that isn't real to convince people to buy in to it. This story is amusing in some ways, but it also perfectly demonstrates Trump's MO: lie, lie and lie again, and tell everyone how magnificent you are, how impressive your performance is and show enough semi-convincing meat to persuade the gullible, and you can pull enough people along with you to do all kinds of things.

I'm seeing a pattern here, basically if Trump accuses someone of doing something, he himself is guilty of it. If he accuses another of killing kittens, his backyard needs to be checked.

It doesn't surprisee anymore.

Yet they complain about how long the various investigations are taking. With shit like this popping up every 24-48 hours, I don't know how the investigations could ever end. You couldn't find any 10 other Presidents/candidates surrounded by this much corruption. Trying to take measure of it is a free fall into the abyss...

The reason Trump is such a master projectionist is because he is only capable of understanding things through his own worldview and experience. He has no empathy so it's impossible for him to conceive of anyone else playing a straight game. Therefore, since he is a cheater and a liar that *must* mean everyone else is a cheater and liar, too.

So when he makes a claim about what others are doing you can be sure he has done it himself.

I can't believe the dumbest criminals were able to take the presidency.
