I mean, if you want to get mad about the truth that's fine, but besides the setting, let's just be real that annualized franchises have to subscribe to this sort of development pattern
Still the COD game I havent played yet because they refuse to put it on sale.
BO3 was innovative in Multiplayer and half the fanbase dumped on it
Infinite tried to change up the campaign(best in the franchise) and not only was it dumped on but sold the worst since COD4.
They tried to change BO4 up to other modern MP standards and it ruined the game.
Im glad they don't listen to people asking them to reinvent the wheel because if it changes too much I ain't buying it anymore.
You know what you are getting with Call of Duty and at least until BO4 you knew exactly the minimum enjoyment quality, time, etc would be each and every year.
there is only so much you can do when you cant iterate on a formula too much. Many of those systems didnt change things enough for people who wanted more and didnt satisfy people who wanted things to stay the same.
I picked the hardened edition for PS4 up for $24.00 at my local Exchange store in Pittsburgh a few years back. You kinda have to search for the deals/ be at the right place at the right time unfortunately.
You can probably find it at your local store for a few dollars lol.
They were acceptable in BO3, garbage in Infinite and feel even worse in 4.

The in-game personalities were cool and I wouldn't mind it at all if future games had them as well, but I just can't stand the fact that Specialists give people extremely powerful weaponry and abilities for doing nothing.

Does it have...a single player campaign? All I care about to be honest. I think it should also be the first focus point on all media released (CLARITY, SP YES OR NO) I never touch the MP in COD so last year´s didnt exist to me.
This game needs to be huge for activision. They recently started franchising cod esports for next season just like they did overwatch. I have been reading like 15-25 million buy in for franchising in the cod league which is insane for how little viewership it gets.
Cross play and free map packs are probably coming. I'm sure they want to really push the new esport league.

They are charging teams 25 million for a league spot they need multiplayer to succeed this year.
Cod pros make like 60-100k and five players to a team tons of money is being dumped into the league. I would be surprised if we don't have free maps and crossplay tbh.
🙏🏻 I hope you're right. Black ops 4 has been my least played cod to date for various reasons but the promise of cross play and free dlc maps could bring me back again...

I can see free maps happening, but I don't know about crossplay, at least for traditional multiplayer. I do think it's probably going to happen for campaign, Spec Ops, and the battle royale mode if it has one though. That said, I hope crossplay is in for all modes. Would make it much, much easier to find games on PC.
Black ops 4 season pass numbers were terrible by all accounts - Activision makes plenty from skins/loot boxes and due to that type of drop off could turn this into a PR "goodwill" move
PC-console cross-play simply shouldn't happen for any PvP modes, simply unfair.
If they do then PC would probably be walled-off unless you specifically join the party of a PC player like it is in other cross-play shooters, otherwise the m/kb players would just run circles around the pad players.
Nothing wrong with it if people can opt in and out of it as they'd like, which is how most games handle it.

I believe it. More and more people are straying away from COD and into mainly PC gaming, LoL, BR especially, of course this isn't new but this might be the first COD we see that's developed with the devs/Activison fully knowing they are up against a wall.
Doe the games already allow for kbm use on consoles anyways? They can just let you decide who you want to match make with like other games.
that would be crazy, I won't even begin to know COD's earnings and how Activision feels about recent years but I can't help but feel like they'd be throwing away money by doing that. So many people buy COD.
PS4 and Xbox One support KB+M input for games, but so far, no CoD has allowed it.

I don't think it'll be the entire MP. The rumours are just that there is internal conversations at Activision about a way to bring free to play in. With MW having no in menu BR I can see Blackout being F2P stand-alone with a MW map in November exclusive for a period of time to owners of MW.
The engine will never get replaced but it's likely got a revamp. They opened a studio in 2017 in Poland that may be working on engine side improvements
