Great! Recount and prove these assholes that the count was correct. Ain't no way they are going to find enough new votes to make up THAT gap.
That's why you have observers present, just like when they were first counted.

Georgia has to be certified by next Friday, so it has to be quick.
Then they would then just go with what is already certified/previous count.
Also considering that all the ballots are out, sorted and collected and such I trust when the SOS says they will finish before then.

florida had a hand recount of 8 million votes that started nov 16, 2016 and was finished by nov 18, 2016. this... probably shouldn't be a big issue.
People in here acting like Trump's base is going to believe the second count any more than they believed the first. Facts don't matter to these assholes. You can livestream close-ups of the long form of every single ballot and they'll still insist that there's fraud and the election is stolen somehow.

10,000 votes aren't being thrown out in a recount. It would take the courts to do something like that.
I haven't seen the latest numbers, but I think this falls into the automatic recount so Trump wouldn't have to pay.
if results aren't certified or ready to be certified, then a judge can extend the time for the recount.
part of the issue of counting all the ballots is opening mail, curing ballots, making sure provisionals are correct, etc. that's not an issue in a recount. it's literally just counting. it's a daunting amount of ballots sure, but not insurmountable.
and while i don't trust the gop, i also trust the ga sos actually wants to certify the results for his state or else he'd look like he did an extra-shitty job. the republicans think that dems submitted fraudulent ballots. republicans are expecting to win georgia, not have its results not matter. that latter bit is a next-level layer of concern coming from democrats.

Hey if trump wants to make sure the count is fair, why not invite him down to watch it in person? And also of course some democrats so they can make sure trump doesn't try to order some shit during the count, he'll realise how boring it is for these people to have to do their duty just to prove his ass wrong, but hey convince him the whole time he is there watching they'll have a live TV feed on him at all times, just so we can see his face do a Ralph Wiggum the moment his heart breaks when he realises he lost again on live TV. Of course if he ever accepted such an invite he would clearly have to accept the results of the count which is why he wouldn't do it.
they're not opening mail and curing ballots. they're just counting. it's a lot that they're counting, but it isn't the same level of intensity.
It's technically a risk-limiting audit, not a recount to appease Donald Trump and the GOP.
