This looks really incredible and it's been getting some very positive word of mouth.

here's some gameplay:

Game description:

You go everywhere, from the Marrow below to the spires that pierce the grey clouds high above before scraping the edge of the troposphere. No delivery job is too dangerous, and no one is faster than a Cloudpunk driver.

In this story-based exploration game, you will meet a diverse range of characters including androids, AI and unscrupulous humans at every level of society. Everyone has a story, and in the course of one night in Nivalis, everything will change.

Features:

  • Explore an immense vertical cyberpunk city with your hover car and on foot
  • Unravel mysteries in a world of corporate conspiracy, hackers and rogue AI through the eyes of Rania
  • Meet a diverse range of characters and immerse yourself in their everyday lives
  • Your decisions will have a lasting impact on the inhabitants of Nivalis

I think I'll pick this up tonight. I watched some of the looping stream on the Steam page and I looks really nice, I liked what I saw of the narrative. The visuals and music set a really nice atmosphere.

Cloudpunk is coming to consoles

We’re happy to announce that we have partnered with Merge Games to bring Cloudpunk to consoles (PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch) as our co-publisher later this year. Here’s an announcement trailer with mostly new game footage. Please help spread the news. Thank you <3 cloudpunk.co

Very excited to check it out at that time.

Debating weather I should get it on Steam or wait for the console version. I'm in no rush to get it, but it''s on my radar.

From the reviews it seems to almost be similar to "walking simulators" in the gameplay department. Personally I'm fine with that, so I'll have to give this a shot. People should probably know that going in, though!

Yeah, I've been following this one.

I don't quite the gameplay though, is there any challenge in the deliveries or is it just a walking simulator? What I understand is that there's at least narrative choices.

Can't stop playing this game, they really nailed the atmosphere.

Also bought the soundtrack off of steam, it's a great blend between Vangelis, Deus Ex and synthwave.

They also already released a first patch that adds basic functionality to the map - much needed!

I like what I've played so far, great atmosphere and amazing sound design. I also bought the soundtrack edition and I'm currently listening to the music outside of the game. It is definitely a narrative "walking simulator" type game with not much gameplay beyond flying around and talking to people - I like it, it's what I expected.

They put fucking Denuvo DRM / online activation on this game though :( - That's probably why there's no GOG version.

lol. I personally consider CP2077 to be closer to GTA then it is to Witcher 3. I get it, RPG, stats, But I think you can set the difficulty to easy and play it like a GTA. I bet you there are some heist missions. And errand quests. It is just futuristic in setting and people.

Played three hours last night. I love it so far. Aside from the Blade Runner adventure game, this is probably the closest I've felt in a game to being inside that world.

The atmosphere is incredible. A combination of beautiful visuals, surprisingly good lighting and rain effects, and fantastic sound design. The way the environmental audio drifts in and out as you're flying around the city is perfect. Other flying cars zooming by, advertising billboards, police sirens, etc. The soundtrack is really great also, lots of Vangelis-esque synths.

I think the writing overall is also pretty solid, and the story is already hinting at some deeper themes that have my interest piqued. The voice acting can be pretty uneven, but there hasn't been anything too bad yet imo.

Definitely won't appeal to everyone, though. It's a pretty laid back game, mostly focused on exploration and dialogue. Isn't really any danger to the player or action that I've seen. I wouldn't quite call it a walking simulator, it feels more involved than that, but it's not too dissimilar.

Kinda cool being able to fly around highways in the sky like in Fifth Element. As much as I'm looking forward to Cyberpunk, I don't think you'll be able to do that.

Naaah, I guess Cyberpunk will be a considerably different game that the "typical" free-roaming GTA.

How so? You can free roam, steal cars, cause chaos, escape from the police,...etc. just like in GTA. The only difference is the in-depth RPG mechanics.

Have only played 30-45 minutes and made a couple deliveries, so *super* early impressions, but:

+ Atmosphere - the whole game feels amazing
+ Movement of your vehicle - feels like there is real weight to it, feels good to drive

- Voice acting seems pretty weak/amateurish so far

Question for those who have played more of this game: I am finding random items around the world. I assume these are mostly to sell to vendors for money (ie. I won't be able to "upgrade" my vehicle later or mod it to make it faster, etc?). My guess is that the open world aspects of this game are pretty limited. I assume outside of making deliveries and talking to people, the main gameplay mechanics I'm going to interact with are refueling my vehicle and fixing any damage? Just trying to see how deep this goes on those fronts.

Some are quest items [unsellable, like the punch cards], others are for selling at merchants. Occasionally you need an item to fix an elevator or get through a gate, but it's always an item you can find aplenty in the world. I'd suggest to keep just one partially depleted battery and corpo flyer, just in case.

You can customize [I use the term loosely] and upgrade your HOVA at the garages. You don't need items to do that, just hard-earned money.

You can buy food, drinks or drugs at merchants and they temporary boost stuff like running speed, but it's all a bit vague and not very fleshed out.

I have the feeling that Cloudpunk would have been a pretty fitting Gamepass title.
Really intriguing in its design philosophy, yet too many gameplay aspects in the dark as to make a descision on whether to buy this game or not ...

This looks damn similar to New York Race for PC:

Which, yes, it's basically The Fifth Element, but the camera, the vehicle lol Look awesome though.

Where do you find the garages? I have figured out where to refuel but not where to get repairs.

They are along the "highway", marked with a wrench on your map. They're all over the place, just pull up the map and look for the icon.

You need to park on them and talk to the mechanic to open the menu.

Awesome, thanks for the info. Yeah, I wasn't quite sure what eating food/taking drugs was useful for, since you don't really have any health/meters at all.

Also, I assume there are no time limits for deliveries? They keep talking about the two rules make deliveries on time and don't ask what's in them blah blah blah. But will I get penalized if I take my time and explore while I'm also delivering?
