So some threads are basically people refusing to spend a few seconds on google. But I suppose all the isolation is making everyone chatty.
There was a tiktok with a girl in a Bernie shirt dancing and saying "ok, Boomer" and it kinda took off from there
I looked it up, still could not understand its usage in many places I've seen it, now I might understand if is just a way to say "you are idiot"
Wtf is Boomer and what makes people use it at every chance they have?
A "Baby Boomer" (later shortened to just "boomer") was someone born during the baby boom after WWII, from 1941 to 1961.
In American politics, they're known for growing up, getting an education, and entering the workforce during economic boom times when education and housing was cheap, and then more or less dismantling that same support system for the middle class for future generations with the rise of Reaganomics in the 1980s, all the while blaming younger generations for being "lazy."

I guess I understand now, thank you everyone for the replies
Just to let you know, I've reported you due to being disrespectful, have a good day.
So a Boomer can be anything between 80 and 50 years old depending on where they are from.
Technically what people have said but actually used by many to discriminate based on age and get away with it. I'm still surprised it's use is so tolerated on this forum.
It refers to the generation born during a huge spike in the number of births in the aftermath of World War 2. In the discourse however, there have been stereotypes that boomer are ignorant and reactionary and got to live through the most prosperous time in American history and are thus out of touch with Millennials and the post 9-11 generation because we don't have the same advantages. Our college is more expensive and we've transitioned from a manufacturing economy to a debt based service economy. Wages have been stagnant or falling and young people entering their careers have to listen to boomers saying "just hit the streets and get a better job like I did." or "why do you kids not move out of your parents house, you're so entitled."I might be really out of the loop but lately I keep seeing this word being used every fucking where and I just don't understand.

In the "criticizing Israel is anti-Semitic" class of "discrimination", sureTechnically what people have said but actually used by many to discriminate based on age and get away with it. I'm still surprised it's use is so tolerated on this forum.
