To all those people saying "look outside Nintendo", why should I have to?

Because I would assume you want to play these types of games and they exist, just not under Nintendo. You can play those games while also campaigning for better gay representation in Nintendo games.

To all those people saying "look outside Nintendo", why should I have to? Other people aren't looking outside Nintendo, so why should I? I'm not going to let Nintendo make games that only straight people can enjoy without guilty feelings or baggage.
I think people are saying this because mainly Nintendo games don't focus on romance options for anyone, so if this is what you're looking for there are probably better options.

With that said, FE should still include these options.

What am I really supposed to say? If they don't get why they should care about my experience being unequal and lesser, then what else could I say?

Also, I think I'm going to ask saci to make a thread about this, but I really don't like the idea of "Well why don't you just stick to games by western or queer developers?"
1. They usually aren't anime-styled
2. I shouldn't have to feel left out while straight people talk about Nintendo games.
3. I don't want to be forced into this weird "queers only" gaming ghetto instead of getting to see myself represented in mainstream work. It hurts to be told that I'll only be respected by being around people who are exactly like me. There shouldn't be a dichotomy of "mainstream" and "queer" games. They should be one and the same.
I'm saying it's worthwhile to frame it from their perspective. As game developers, they may want to make a product that the audience will enjoy, they want to craft an experience that creates certain feelings, they want you to have a lasting relationship with their franchise, they want the franchise to be successful, they want people to appreciate their characters, they want to be respected within their industry.

I suspect that what you want is going to interact with those interests. So even if you don't personally care about what Nintendo gets, you can make a stronger case by looking from that perspective and saying "here's what's in it for you if you do this".

As I previously stated, "general awareness" is a nebulous nothingburger of a plan. I'm hoping that's not a direction this chooses to go in.
Honestly, what's probably gonna happen is that the campaign will go in the direction desired by the people putting in the work. Maybe making a Discord got folks who are interested in planning and drafting stuff would help keep momentum?

I haven't been able to get started on the data analysis. (I don't even have internet at home at the moment.) I could have something preliminary by mid-September.

The main thing I'm scratching my head about is that it's not really clear to me that you really understand the content within Fire Emblem Three Houses that you are currently so charged up about. Like, let's fast forward 6-12 months and imagine a world where this campaign (or one like it) succeeds and they patch in more queer S-Rank supports. I'm... not sure you're going to get the payoff you are looking for based on how you are posting.

I know, but I'm also meaning that either the next Fire Emblem game with romances like Awakening/Fates, or other Nintendo/IS games with romance should do better at it. I don't know where I said it above, but patching Three Houses is definitely more of a "to make a statement" thing, just because I know they're obviously not going to patch the old 3DS games that had more romance elements. And of course, I said a page or two ago that I also expect LGBT equality from companies like Squeenix, Bamco, and Atlus, who do make more games with romantic content and I often get the same "you shouldn't expect LGBT content from these companies" spiel even if I think a game from looks cool but just needs some more gay options. So part of this rant is definitely directed at them as well for not offering those options.

Well, who were they trying to target by putting in opposite-sex relationships in Awakening and Fates? What feelings were they hoping the audience would have when Robin/Corrin got in an S-Rank relationship with a character? I want to have the same experience as the straight people who have "waifus" or whatever. So to answer your question, they should take the audience and feelings that they were targeting with Awakening/Fates, and broaden it to include gay/lesbian offerings that evoke the same kinds of feelings as the straight offerings.
Pardon my ignorance but who's the one male same sex relationship you can have?

High School DxD exists. It has a freaking "Oppai Dragon" music video in the show. You shouldn't feel titilated by cartoons my ass. If this type of thing is gonna be pandering to straight people, then it sure would be equal to get stuff aimed at gay people, right?
Uh, I never said you shouldn't feel titillated by cartoons. I said that wanting to have sex with Nintendo characters in particular isn't something that is important to most people and I don't want a pro-gay movement to be characterized as being about... that.

You do realize there is a difference between Nintendo games and ecchi, right? Something like High School DxD is literally softcore pornography. Fire Emblem may be a more mature Nintendo IP than Mario, but that doesn't mean it's ecchi.

I implore you to look into what Fire Emblem: Three Houses actually is-- a game that happens to have one scene at the very end where your character gets married, not one with Oppai Dragon music videos lol.

Update: the game added Jeritza as a recruitable character in Crimson Flower. He can S-support both Byleths.

(Note that despite the tweet, no word on if it's a platonic or romantic S rank yet. Given his role in the story, platonic seems entirely possible.)

As mentioned in other topics, the Jeritza S supports are confirmed to be romantic for both genders. 👍

Maybe this isn't worth a necro bump, but Nintendo sent out an email survey about Fire Emblem: Three Houses. One of the questions is just a free response field to say anything you want to say. I used it to complain about the lack of varied male same-sex options.

Ah, damn, I filled out that same survey and it didn't cross my mind to add in something about that. Would have definitely at least pointed out the absurdity of only having the female lord being romanceable by either gender.

This is a very good idea.
