As the leaks already said this is basically a WWII skin for Modern Warfare, so I'm already out of the MP. I'll only consider getting the game if Zombies is solid.

For people saying this is a "re-skin of MW2019" – I'm probably not going to buy it so I don't really care, but I don't think that's entirely accurate

It looks and plays exactly as you would expect it to be. For some people I'm sure that's cool. For me its a big nope.

I think Warzone running on the MW19 engine means a larger fanbase feels more at home with its mechanics than BOCW...I couldn't stand how the game felt in comparison so I get why the next two cods will essentially be updates to the mw19 game...but if you didn't like it then yea, the future of Cod is a bit bleak.

Eh it doesn't bother me too much. Devs can't please everybody and that's fine. But if Treyarc starts incorporating mechanics from MW2019 for their next game then yeah that might be time for me to tap out lol.

Early beta is this weekend right? So its only streamers who can play currently then?

Well…that's kinda interesting to hear. I guess I'll find out in the open beta. The flow may be similar to old maps, but all the 2019 inclusions makes me think otherwise. Especially after playing the gunfight alpha.

Maps were only part of the problem. You still have issues like the lightning fast ttk, Killstreaks and people not showing up on the map when they fire their gun unless you're using a perk. Also something you shouldn't forget is that these impressions are based on playing with and against other content creators who typically aren't the type of players to camp in a dark corner or behind cover the entire game.

Yeah people forget the radar in CoD is what helped with the "traditional flow". So it's a head scratcher seeing it as a perk. You know what could make the flow even more similar to CoD4 again? Red dots on the radar lol.

Probably would have had more impact if they had released the trailer before the multiplayer beta.

Yep. Day one like the previous 15 or so COD's. Between MP, campaign, zombies and a new WZ map, it's loaded with content.

Right? I didn't "get" COD until recently - played MW1-3, then dropped off until Cold War - but it's such a complete package, top-notch production values, and these days, incredible free seasonal support.

I understand attacking COD as basic, but boy, is it a good value proposition.

New Warzone map looks awesome and I think the game itself looks really good too. But I kinda can't get passed them not having factions in the multiplayer. Seems like they shouldn't have even done WW2 theme if they're only gonna have allies fighting each other...

didnt like that alpha at all, after playing so much CW, Vanguard felt so sluggish. probably rent this one for the campaign and maybe give mp a shot, but i think ill stick to CW and Halo for my MP fix next year

Flipping through several live streams (good lord can I not stand most of the "personalities". I know this is just me being an old man, but the wacky, over the top shit is annoying) but what I am seeing of the maps looks *great*. Really immediately clear flow where you can read and anticipate combat, but also a decent amount of creative flanking routes and angles. This mountaintop villa level is :chef kiss:

Really looks like a last gen game and the WW2 environment is just so played out in 2021. I'm good with Cold War till next years COD game

Don't love the WWII setting, but if it feels like an improved version of MW2019, I'll be extremely happy.

Oof ... popped into a few streams to see how it plays in real time and it looks pretty rough.

Meh.

I watched that gameplay from yesterday and it looked like a Modern Warfare mod. Maybe, and that's a big maybe, I will give COD another shot with MW2. It will nex to have some big changes though.

Please tell me Champion Hill isn't replacing Gunfight. Because, man, this just seems like TDM duos compared to the more tactical & slower paced Gunfight. Just simple, gunskill, positioning, no killstreak bullshit, versatility with all the guns you have to use, & communication with your teammate.

Ace's initially impressions are a great sign, looking forward to the BETA.

I was worried when I heard about it being the MW 2019 mini map but at least there is a perk that gives you the traditional mini map.

Looks okay, but I think I'll be sticking with BF2042. No point in buying both me thinks.

I wasn't excited until I realized that the baseball bat animation was basically a copy of Sgt. Donny Donowitz in Inglorious Bastereds when he decapitated a Nazi with that sweet swing.

In terms of core mechanics alone (leaning, radar/compass separated, tac sprint, mounting, DOORS) it is appealing to the people who liked how MW2019 played.

The more arcadey CoDs are similar to 360 ones.
Well, I was talking about previous COD (MW2019 and CW), but it's true that the meaning of my post was too wide. I mean, yes, the core mechanics of MW2019 are in Vangard and I didn't see too many new stuff leaving aside the "mini tank"

The pacing option sounds interesting, I felt that the MW maps were usually too large for their player counts and could have been benefitted from having more players. I'll have to play this for myself, but I am certainly open to a less campy MW19. I also like that Castle and Dome are returning from WAW, Castle was one of my favorites from that game

1. It's pretty confusing imo that the narrative "yeah, these specialists have an axe to grind with the reich" in this trailer doesn't work with them showing everyone killing each other. Russians killing americans, japanese killing brits and don't forget you can play as the "cool" flamer nazi...

2. Good it is depressing to see the logos from Raven and High Moon Studios at the end. Such great studios and they're making CoD MP no. 35,378... What a waste.

Loving what I'm seeing. It's a good mesh of MW 2019 & WW2 from the guns, movement, overall game design and maps.

Engine =/= game design. All the older CoDs are based on the same engine which got upgrade with every game or so. Yet they are all so incredibly different if you ask the fans.

I really want more information about zombie mode. Outbreak in Cold War is my favorite thing in the entire franchise. I fucking love it.

It's doing that shit from 2019 where you get an overview of the map before you spawn.

The spawn system was abysmal in 2019

That's the thing. It's pretty clear this is going to feel at home for fans of 2019 so we can't really say it's for CoD fans in general, anymore. Treyarc's more arcadey philosophy is different than IW's recent approach, which seems to be a more "realistic" spin on the formula.

That much is known when you compare BO4 to MW2019, and MW2019 to CW (which basically stripped everything 2019 added and thank god for that lol).
Send treyarch cods to the gulag

I'll give it a try this weekend but I didn't like the Alpha much. On a side note, its good to see they're not restricting early access to digital pre-orders only, that was bullshit.

Just watched the full reveal and nothing excited me at all - well, it was sort of nice to see a new Warzone map with some COLOUR!

One thing I will say - I can see the blind fire and sliding along cover while mounted mechanics ruining Warzone.
