Game isn't for me anymore. Loved BO1, but the TTK in this is insane. It's not even half a second. Cod has moved onto those who have the speed and patience to enjoy insta fragging. I had more fun with BF1 but I'm done with both franchises as it stands.

Also locking guns behind levels is just pathetic. There is really no other word to describe it.

Yep. A lot of the hype is generated by the fact it's called Modern Warfare and it's made by Infinity Ward. Had it been called something else, nobody would really compare it to the original Modern Warfare games because it's far more mediocre and broken than those games in anything that isn't the campaign. It looks and feels great, but the bare minimum testing must have gone into the multiplayer because it's unbalanced and broken as hell. Had they tested it properly they would have realized how prevalent camping became, how half the matches finish on the clock because people don't dare moving, how easy it is to hold an area with all the claymore + snieper + killstreak spam... MW3 was a bit of a holy mess but it was miles better than this in terms of map design and game balance.

Your viewpoint is nullified because you think BO4 is a good game.

It's the Black Ops I fell off the quickest from, I legit thought I'd stick to Blackout a lot but I don't think I played more than 20 matches in it, and the multiplayer bored me a lot quicker than I thought it would. And yet, it was a better experience even at day 1 than this campfest :\

I turned off the dialogue in the audio options and holy shit, I couldn't believe how much of a distraction it is to have someone yell at your ears every time a UAV goes up or gets destroyed.

Dude I turned on subtitles for campaign then went back to multiplayer and why the fuck are they captioning every little random thought someone says? It makes no sense.

I sometimes wonder about these devs thought processes.

Like the person who designed the scoreboard, had they ever played a single game of CoD? TDM and I can't see my own deaths....in TDM the only mode where dying actually makes a differences in the outcome.....I can't even see my current KDR in Team Deathmatch...

And then we go to objective based gameplay where dying really doesn't matter in the long run and....guess what?....I can now see how many times I've died. BUT, I can't see objectives taken or defended.....

What the actual fuck? How does this make it to live?

And don't even get me started on the Spec Ops missions, they are fucking god awful. Here defend this machine against endless waves of enemies that can kill you with a few bullets. Oh btw you have to stay near the device for it to work and there is zero cover to hide behind while doing so. Just absolute garbage design. I feel like the Spec Ops stuff wasn't tested at all. The maps look terrible, the design is terrible and the enemies behave terrible and are way to strong.

Same here, I bailed at Christmas when the aggressive mtx game along and never went back, that game to me was way more whack than this game, there's a good game here but BO4 was never going to be a good game with so many weird choices (specialists and 150 health to name two things).

I really love the multiplayer. I've always wanted CoD to feel more tactical, and now it does. I was so sick and tired of how run and gun that franchise had become. The change of pace is great. Overall the maps aren't bad either.

Ground War is okay, but as others have said it's not as good as BF. It makes you realize how much the destruction adds to the gameplay. The ground war maps just feel so static.

Christ I hate soundwhoring in games. Actively punishes people who don't have surround sound or headphones.

Since when hearing game audio and using it to your benefit is "soundwhoring"? What you would have players to do, play game muted? It's on audio team to make audio mix so that e.g. footsteps aren't too loud and prominent in audio landscape, but still usable for situational awareness.

This is the first call of duty I ever bought, and the first one I've even played in 10 years.

I love it! I'm havin a fuckin blast. I was going like 21 and 4 on a few matches last night, and I'm usually not too great at these type of games. Took the plunge with a couple buddies, we squadded up and played for a few hours last night, just a ton of fun. I had to force myself to quit and go to bed, I could have kept playing 4 more hours EASILY. This game surprised me, def gonna be in my top 10 this year, and I've never been a fan at all.

The campaign is great too, best HDR implementation I've seen, and I've been playong HDR games since 2016. The sound design it top notch too. Hell of a package.

If anything, to me it's the Treyarch or Black Ops effect. Since Black Ops 1 I always played more of the last Black Ops game once I was done with the honeymoon with each IW or Sledgehammer COD. I just prefer that style and I always liked BO4 even though it's inferior to 3 and 2. This time however it's so damn jarring because MW eliminates a decade of COD evolution: random map designs, a balance reminiscent of MW2 with its akimbos, Ghost being OP again, killstreaks being OP again, no stuff blocking corners, no real anticamping measures, nothing from BO4 so no EKIA and such...

Black Ops 4 has issues but it's the result of a dozen years of formula changes, balancing and innovation. It's far from perfect but BO4 does evolve a lot of things from 2 and 3 iterating upon them. Modern Warfare throws everything out of the window and gives us a product that simply feels... unbalanced, untested. It's as if Infinity Ward never made a multiplayer game before and are now going through the issues other developers solved several years ago for good. Except they also did solve these issues, because even Infinite Warfare had better balance, less OP killstreaks, campers weren't this rewarded, it had better maps, etc..
Are the other modes in Black Ops 4 such as TDM equally or more popular than Battle Royale? I completely wrote that game off because I noticed it hugely emphasized that game mode.

I love the game but I think Ace has nailed what needs to be adjusted here, all of which are rather reasonable tweaks imho

I like Ace but I think he is arguing a bit too much for his play style in this video.
He has some valid points, the only problem would be - if they change everything he suggests it would change this CoD into a "normal" CoD that serves to its competitive esport crowd.
And that is something that they wanted to change with this entry.

I like his ideas though as I mostly play aggressive.

I am really enjoying the game online. Got 5 of my family in and we blasted all the game modes. I'm a big BF fan but the last few have left me cold BF4 one of my fav's. The pace and gunplay is the best I felt from Cod since MW2

I'm mad the advanced UAV last for 25 seconds. Its duration should be longer like 35-40 seconds and the fact it can be shot down. IW needs to buff it.

Been mainly playing TDM, Domination, and HQ to level up to access some guns. Finally played Gun Game or whatever it's called last night, and man that is so fun and intense. Nice to play in short games and have some suspense.

Better to have rushing gameplay be dominant then camping.

This is the first year in which most of my TDM games end due to the time limit due to people spending most of the match camping and not killing each other.

Edit: It wasn't totally uncommon when the TDM kill count was 100 but now that it's back to 75 and still mostly ending due to the time limit is crazy.

The second LMG, SA-81 I think, is a pain to level up. It is supposed to be good at long range, and it is when you tap, but there's so much recoil and the M4 just craps all over it.

It really is a bit hilarious how many TDM games end with the time running out

"This says alot about our society", except unironically and society replaced with MW 2019

The dedicated 6v6 mode has made the game more enjoyable for me overall. I'm still bitter about the map design for the most part. I think had the Treyarch map designers assisted with this game it would've been near perfect.

There is a difference between footsteps being one small part of a greater whole of situational awareness and combat and it being a core pillar of it. It's never been this bad before, part of the problem is the way the game promotes camping (of which the t-rex footsteps contributes).

It's gotten worse and worse over the years but in MW it's horrible.

Great video by Ace. I was running in to the exact problem on the construction site map (I don't know what the map is actually called)

I spawned at the back of the map with the construction site on my right. I would walk for 30 second or less then get picked off by someone camping.

I started off 0-10. Yeah I know what people are thinking "You're an idiot you should have went another way." Well I tried. No matter which way I went I was shot down every time. What am I supposed to do there just stand at the back of the map the entire time? I don't get IW logic in making these maps.

That's just the COD community's term for it, not the poster's.

My reaction to Ace video:

Zone control + camping has always been a big deal in COD, at least the ones I have played. Saying this is no longer recognizable as a COD game is just... so wrong. While the maps are a bit tedious and the visual clutter is ramped up, feels like a MW game 100% imo.

It also annoys me that he wants to just accept that maps are not going to change. I think any good developer should be open to the maps changing and so should the player base.

I hate that he wants to see old maps brought back. Why do people want this over actual good new maps? Meh.

Yes, footsteps are too loud... I think crouching should be completely silent. And non-sprint should be quieter as well. They should not make dead silence a perk again. They should just make it less required if you are moving slowly. It is far from ideal to give people the option to have it unlocked permanently. I love that it is a field upgrade rather than a permanent upgrade. That is one of the smartest moves they made imo.

Obviously the character call outs being heard by enemies is stupid.

I am curious about the silencer thing cause I noticed there is a heavier silencer option. Maybe the heavier vs lighter silencer work, or should work, differently. Either way being spotted while UAV is up with a silencer, even with ghost, is I think not a big deal. Maybe the heavy silencer should prevent that, with the downside of having worse aim or whatever the silencer does.

I disagree with pinging radar bs. Screw that nonsense.

Hate any reduction to headshot damage. Would love longer on average TTK but reducing headshot damage is not the way. When I get headshot or get a headshot, those kills should feel insanely quick imo.

Edit:
Oops, posted before done, will complete in next post I make.
edit2:
Was at the end so will just post here:

He wants to remove risk vs reward for fighting for the objective or getting his precious killstreak? Meh. I do not think point streaks by default or whatever is a good idea. His whole play to win spiel is on point. But if you think getting your killstreak is going to be a better move than capping that point right away... well...you are then still playing to win.

Picked this up last night. Played some Realism Campaign and Realism Multiplayer.
Haven't even seen the games HUD yet, haha. I might keep it that way, been having a blast.

The campaign is that good popcorn blockbuster that I was looking for, Clean House was the standout mission so far.

During MP, I checked my latency in options. It was hovering around 500ms. How is that possible? Are there servers really being hit that hard? If it really was true, they hide it very well with their netcode.

I saw this on Reddit but apparently Titanfall 2 put the gunshots on the outer circle of the minimap to show direction. I think some other games have done this too, MW should scrap the compass and do this, the HUD is too cluttered as-is.

Well, you don't know if a new map is good until it goes live and you get player reactions. And good level design is very difficult.

I'm really enjoying this game now. I spent quite a bit of time last night setting up my loadouts to include 2 S&D/cyber attack loadouts (one AR and the other SMG) with specialist turned on as killstreaks aren't as plentiful or useful but the extra perks sure are.

Then 2 non-S&D/cyber attack loadouts for AR and SMG again, with more focus on killstreaks and trying out potentially less optimal weapons - having a lot of fun with the Oden now I've unlocked stock etc for stability. It's monstrously powerful.

Last loadout is a sniper build that can be used in either sets of game modes.

Tried Gunfight for the first time today and really enjoyed that too.

Surely soundwhoring would be using high-end speakers or headphones to more accurately reveal and position quiet footsteps? The footsteps being incredibly loud is more of an equaliser than anything.

You do have your speakers on, right?

I seriously doubt any old map will translate well into the new game anyway. Good level design is difficult but they have had the time and resources to develop them. And as far as not knowing, you have plenty of opportunities to test the maps before release.

You would think that on their 50th cod game they would have this process down by now.

When I'm not using my headset (which I can't use all of the time) I have to use stereo speakers, the directional audio in this game sucks. Sure I can hear that there are footsteps but there are so many points of egress in this game I can't tell where they are coming from without my headset. Point is you shouldn't need a headset or a surround sound system to be able to make well of the sound stage
aand footsteps themselves shouldn't be so integral to the gameplay.

Wait, suppressed weapons fire shows up on the compass....
WTF IW!?

lol... this game has so many mind boggling decisions

- ugly ass map design
- Minimap, but you can't see when people shoot
- compass even though we have a minimap
- I can be behind someone and they don't see me, yet will yell CONTACT, turn around and shoot me
- Suppressed weapons show up on the map
- 50000 angles
- deaths showing up in domination where it's not needed, but not in TDM
- kill confirmed not enabled ( we know its in the game) for no fucking reason at all
- splitting map design resources between 6 v 6 and 10 v 10
- footsteps loud as hell, like you weigh 500 pounds. to make it worst, dead silence isn't a perk, its a fucking thing you get after a little bit of time in the game. like wHY
- M4 is op as hell, makes other guns useless and penalties experimentation

like c'mon man.

Honestly, the only change that I like to MP this year is the gunsmith. It's crazy how many attachments there are.

I'm not really sure what to say. As graphics and gameplay advance, so does sound design. I certainly would always want game developers to be pushing the boundaries of accurate sound positioning as much as possible, especially in a competitive game.

The shooting feels pretty good, but I'm not sold on the maps yet. With that said, I don't think any COD has made a worse first impression.

Nothing but campers everywhere. They've literally added a camp button to the game and it's infuriating. Mounting a gun into any position and then just peaking rewards shitty players.

I'm going to keep playing it for a bit, but after getting used to shooters where player movement and actual skill at firing a weapon while moving shows creativity and true ability, I don't think I can go back to this ancient park yourself in one spot for an entire match and shoot people as they run by gameplay.

It's for people who are bad at shooters.

I feel as if this game wasn't directed or managed well. Someone was too ambitious, instead of focusing on the core COD experience first and then working on new stuff after.. they tried to do too much in the timeframe they were given. Like butter spread over too much bread. This is the 13th? COD? They've made mistakes that were corrected years ago. Just some thoughts.
