California Games is a 1987 Epyx sports video game originally released for the Apple II and Commodore 64 and ported to other home computers and video game consoles. Branching from their popular Summer Games and Winter Games series, this game consists of a collection of outdoor sports purportedly popular in California. The game was successful for Epyx and spawned a sequel.
Yeah I'm a 90s kid too, but I have a passing familiarity with this game, and know that people from the 80s have a particular reverence for this game, I think it was somewhat of a pre-internet cultural phenomenon.
It was sarcasm lol. Probably the most button mashy game ever, famously so. I played it on the C64 though.I mean this was a lot of NES games. There were only so many mechanics with 2 buttons.
California Games was an NES game (and I think on the PC before that?) that was kind of like a beach bum Olympics. It's notoriously difficult and weirdly fun.
