LOL! Luke is acting like a real asshole lately. :) I still kind of like him, but the fat that D2 was a bummer at launch is kind of his fault as well. :)
Realistically there's only like five game companies that can produce a destiny 3. And three of them love microtransactions
Tencent money? So is Bungie big enough now to self-publish? Or would they still need to find a publisher? I don't want them to leave Activision just to go work with EA or Take-Two, but who else could they work with and still keep the franchise multiplatform? Bethesda? Ubisoft?
Except they said they are going to self publish so I dunnoThey're not going to self-publish Destiny 3. It's too expensive. A lot rides on who they sign with.
well they also have all the Blizzard stuff other than that they have some more one time stuff like publishing Sekiro out of Japan. So with that done, Activission just has crash, Cod and spyro left? If COD dies this company is ded right? Sony you know what to do, bring our boys back home.
It was in the leaked contract that there would be a full, numbered mainline game every other year through at least Destiny 4, with larger expansions (then called "comets") released in the off year. That was definitely Activision and their annual release schtick. Obviously Bungie agreed to it though, so at one point that's what they wanted as well... but after D1 I think they learned the error of their ways. By that point they were locked into the contract though.I was and still am fine with TTK/Forsaken level content every year and HoW level content 2-3 times in between. This is the standard other service based games like Warframe follow.
I am not really sure if the "whole new game" thing was Acti or because Bungie wanted to change engine/make fresh start. Do we know if that was mandatory or whether it was justan annual release every year?
"Bungie acquired by Epic/Tencent"
It's going to be so rebooted a year from launch.
The studio was on fire constantly when they were at Microsoft. They haven't been able to match their heyday output since development teams grew beyond 100 people. It was always a team of like 5 to 10 engineers and artists putting in the work to make Halo multiplayer incredible while the rest of the game was on fire and coming together at the last minute. Even then Halo 2 and Halo 3 multiplayer were a mess at launch. Nowadays you need at least 50 talented people to do what those 5 used to do.
MS is like me playing Monopoly. Buying everything then regretting it in the end-game.Microsoft is too busy cutting checks to think these things through. Acquire!

Bungie leaves a gigantic publisher because it wasn't working for either them. Garner response? Bungie go back the other gigantic publisher you already left once.
this is a good and reasonable take and it will be very interesting to see what information about this deal will come to light.Wasn't the original deal a 10 year contract finishing in 2020-21?
By leaving now they are leaving early, and rules of business say early exit means the organisation/person exiting has to give something up. I was expecting this to be the IP itself seeing how VV and High Moon seemed ready to take over.
People act like 100% of the bullshit that came with Destiny is only all Activision's fault, none at all from Bungie themselves own decisions
I hope Sony and Microsoft buy Bungie, liquidate it, and split the money just to shut up you console warriors
destiny 2 is huge on pcWill Bungie keep PC versions of their future games around or take whole idea behind shed in order to save resources and to put less strain on studio flying solo in AAA space now?
No reason to get too excited. Another mega corporation will sweep in and take Activision's spot. Bungie can't make games like Destiny on their own.
The problem is at every major third-party publisher love microtransactions as much as Activision. Especially the ones that will be making destiny 3No one is expecting it not to have mtx. They just expect the mtx to potentially be handled differently and most importantly the quality of the game to be better without the forced release schedules of Activision. Not to mention not having the impossible demands of shareholders looming over you is bound to improve moral which is very important when making games. It's exciting to see what will happen next tbh. I hope they have success.
My English isn't good on that I thought I couldn't explain well enough lol
Because Bungie has to pay people way moreWhy not? Is it because we have more publicly traded game publishers in the US?
Highly disagree. Destiny campaigns are similar to Halo campaigns in length with less unique content, and Destiny multiplayer is laughable compared to the undertaking that is building a Halo multiplayer suite. If by on Fire you mean they would crunch for 6 months to year and deliver an amazing product when under the gun then absolutely. That said, Destiny is way more ambitious than Halo and delivering the game fans want is impossibl as you cannot please everyone.
I can't check right now but wasn't it originally every 2 years? Which Bungie managed to negotiate to every 3 years? 3 years is reasonable I think for a large studio like Bungie that can afford to have a 2nd team.It was in the leaked contract that there would be a full, numbered mainline game every other year through at least Destiny 4, with larger expansions (then called "comets") released in the off year. Holy shit the guy makes one little joke throwback on current events using a beloved old raid's feed text and this is your reaction lmaooooooooooooooYeah, up until now Bungie has been completely hands off and totally not at all responsible for the complete shitshows of Destiny 1/2's year 1 content.

Destiny is fully owned by bungo is what everyone keeps saying
