Bungie just revealed that Destiny 2's crucible mode will be 120fps on next-gen consoles like the Xbox Series X and PS5

Id hold off for at least a year before everyone settles back down to 30fps with RT.
haha I appreciate it but I game more in MP so these higher frame rate options are right up my alley. One downside is there aren't many affordable good hdr monitors and there aren't many affordable 120hz vrr tv's so that would be my only hesitation.
Going to be a godsend for what? Are your thinking it won't hold 120 very well?
This is great, just a shame that Bungie has consistently bungled any potential Crucible has had since D1.
Presumably they do though? Would love to hear the technical side of how this works.
I want to jump back into Destiny 2 but I havent played it since the OG version short of playing some crucible matchs with freinds on the PC F2P version.

Uhh, I hope the entire game is like this because, if not, switching between PVE & PVP and having different framerates for each is going to be nauseating if not.

I didn't know about this. Just looked it up and it says the series S is getting it so I don't think it's a capability thing though. Either way, I'm not surprised seeing the PS5 getting 120fps, that's merely why I asked why wouldn't it get it, but it guess that if there are games that are skipping that option on it then that post makes more sense to me now.
It looks to be a BC issue with the PS5. As someone else mentioned Star Wars Squadrons is the same way.

I expect the majority of games with competitive multiplayer elements to feature 120hz output modes this generation. I think the only people expecting otherwise are people who just aren't that tapped in to the trends of the competitive MP landscape.

That's good, but I don't see why the campaign isn't 120FPS. The game isn't that demanding.
Yes, higher refresh rate/framerate makes you a better player. However, that was tested on mice, so the difference with controllers will be smaller.
