I like extensions because they increase the chance of the whole thing being avoided. I still think it's unlikely, but extensions make it less unlikely.

So a customs union, where we'd have some input into trade deals negotiated by the EU, with aligned rights? Sounds awfully like being in the EU - except no veto, no actual meaningful voting rights other than 'a say' and probably less investment from the EU and a higher annual subscription fee?

Of course for Varadkar's suggestion that the UK could have a role in determining rules for the Customs Union the entire EU would have to agree to that in a binding resolution, not just a political declaration. It must be written in some Agreement linked to our Withdrawal.

I would like to reiterate my desire to deliver on OT2 as we organise an orderly exit from OT1. ResetEra members want us to get on with the job and I remain steadfast in my commitment to fulfilling my promise to them.
